Cycling on the Birmingham Canals Day 1
    Day1
The Trek Marlin’s were a good choice for this route with some unsurfaced parts of the towpath being a little challenging. The route left Brindley Place in a North West direction along the Birmingham Canal (New Line) with a brief swap onto the Old Line because the New Line was closed due to the “Syon Lane diversion”. Soon after that the route joined the Wednesbury Old Canal and quickly onto the Walsall Canal and down a flight of surfaced locks before a very nice run into Walsall and a look around the Walsall Canal Town Arm. The delightful Wyrley and Essington Canal led out of Walsall before coming quite muddy. That led onto the Birmingham Canal Navigations and through the very interesting Crosley Canal tunnel which is long, narrow and cobbled so remember to take lights. That led back onto the Birmingham Canal (New Line) which led back to Brindley Place again with the Syon Lane Diversion.
