This ongoing Video Diary by myself John Neal, sometimes known as John Longcroft-Neal, as the whim takes me.

TODAY’S SUBJECT is a video of the Walk of Faith in Nuneaton on 1st June 2024

    GENERAL STUFF
I am retired from two careers of primary school teaching when I was deputy head of a Middle School and Primary School, and as a self employed Chalkboard Artist from 2002 until I reached the grand old age of 65 in 2016. Since I retired it’s like a second childhood but with more expensive toys.

I play guitar and write songs and have written about 14 songs for the local BBC radio station. I run a weekly (weakly) evening Acoustic session at a local pub and have been doing so for 14 years now. I also started an afternoon acoustic session in a quite large cafe in Nuneaton. Both premises were former songwriting clients of mine.

Much of the music I use on this channel is taken from epidemicsound.com free to use on Youtube for a reasonable monthly fee, and sometimes I suffer you with my own music.

    Gear that I use:
    DJI Mavic Mini 3 Drone.
Iphone 15 Pro for camera, generally front facing so I can see myself in frame. Super quality especially if I keep the lens clean.
    Go Pro11
Gimble is a Q2 Smooth by Zhiyun, I ought to use this more often because it was expensive.
    Canon G7mk2
    Sony IC recorder

    Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone

Rhode videomic to do voice over on computer
Video editing with Final Cut Pro X
Polarduck Mini Tripod for mobile phone. This is so good and under £10.00 I bought two.
    Lamcou bendy leg tripod
    Smatree Tripod / mono pod
Mono pod is a Manfrotto Compact MMC3-02 and is very useful for getting high angles that look like low flight drone shots and so easy to carry on my bike along with the mini tripod.

My bike is a e28 Estarli electric bike.

I am a follower of the Bahá’i Faith and some of my philosophical ideas may show through in comments that I make, but, by and large, I’ll not make direct reference to my beliefs.

I also enjoy gardening but lay no claims to have any expertise, and you might catch me out in the countryside of Warwickshire and nearby Leicestershire on a walk with my wife or on a bike ride.

Please comment below to inform further plans for my vlogs. I’d love to hear from you. If you don’t you will just get whatever bubbly ideas float to the surface of my slightly muddled elderly mind.

in fact if you want to move forward slightly I won’t have to shout too much and we’ll let people go along the path as well they’re all looking very confused these folks uh listen thank you very very much for coming along and we’ve I won’t go and list all the notable dignitaries here so thank you all for coming along I’m I’m very very pleased um we last did this um uh walk about 10 years ago and uh was very successful then and it seems that the uh situation in the world is no better so I think it’s a great time to um start this walk over again just if nothing more just to get people together in a friendly way one of the um writings of the bahai faith is that we must consort with people of all religions with us in a friendliness and fellowship so this is exactly what it is no better way than to just walk you can be side to side with people and have a chat with them you all know everybody’s name because you all got a label on so there is no excuse whatsoever um I’m very grateful for all the various Faith communities the Muslims the siks uh the Hindus I think are busy with other developments in town but we’ll go past where they have a center there and then finally end up at St Nick’s church and thank you very much for accommodating us there we have also invited all of groups um from in town so whoever turns up absolutely fine so the first Port of Call will be the mosque which is in um Frank Street over this way we’re going to walk across here over the little Bridge through the park and across coton Road um I don’t think there’s much else I need to say Oh we must have a photograph of everybody and um my good friend here George just twisted my arm we were going to start at the bigh tree over there that tree we planted as a b Community about 40 years ago and it’s still standing and I hope the counts aren’t going to pull it down when they develop I’ll say develop and knock down all the area around here uh so I think the tree Will Survive which will be nice but this is the um station if you like of the buys we don’t we have a small Bai community in the neon of about 20 or 30 people and uh we meet in other people’s houses so we don’t have a center here yet but that’s the only thing we can mark the placees with and that’s why we’re here but um George from Leicester he had noted that uh he was rather impressed with the George Elliot um Monument here so he says oh could you not gather around this to have the photograph I go on then George let’s do it the big advantage of walking shoulder Tosh shoulder is that enables you to have very interesting conversations so many people from different backgrounds were able to get to know each othery the police we made our way through riversley Park and then crossed over Cen road then turned down this foot path to make our way towards Edward Street and thankfully the pcso has helped us across the road it’s the only reason I invited the police to get us across the road we then entered Frank Street and turned to visit the Nan mosque the dress code here was for everybody to take their shoes off and ladies to cover their heads one or two people have never been in a mosque let alone this one so it’s a great opportunity we then made our way to marbor Road just around the corner to visit the seek gooda after the usual wonderful hospitality of the siks with food and drink we entered the prayer Hall where everybody needed to cover their heads and take their shoes off we then headed off across Queen’s Road and then into the park behind the Abbey theater to make our way onto to Abby Street here we paused by the Hindu samage to have a photograph and then moved on towards the town center and onto St Nicholas church so come on say hello Tony how are you it’s the walk here we are passing Nan Town Hall making our way to St Nicholas church Vick Street where we had a very warm welcome by one of our Walkers that is the Reverend Chris routage this chur East 11:55 could well be earlier we don’t we don’t know if you look at the little ban at the back this is inherited knowledge I’ve had to find it out from someone else we need to test it with uh with history p but we think possibly there was a a um there may have been a church here per doomsday but it’s not in Doomsday Book so 1086 n is not called n it was called eat in those days uh and NS came later and they uh there was no mention of a priest there which would normally be mentioned in doomsday Weddington is in doomsday that was my other church then we left St Nicholas church and made a way across the road into riversley park to go to the peace Avenue and I think that this is a very fitting place to finish our walk of faith and here we have the plaque which explains what this um Peace Avenue is all about this sign says that the peace Avenue was planted in 1995 to Mark the 50 years since the end of World War II it was purchased by public subscription as part of the appeal of the mayor of n at the time counselor Don Jakes it’s the one you friends the the the quest of our pilgrimage this is it this lump of rock you know how many times I’ve passed this place I know [Music] that’s let me finish with two quotes the first one from the Bible but Jesus knowing their thoughts said to them every Kingdom divided against itself will become desolate and every city or house divided against itself will not stand Matthew 12 verse 25 and second from the bahai writings the well-being of mankind its peace and security are unattainable unless and until its Unity is firmly established for how long [Music]
