Patrick Lefevere wants to meet with Julian Alaphilippe to “clear the air” after all he and Julian Alaphilippe have been through over the last few years.

Julian Alaphilippe is in the final year of his contract with Quickstep and will have to make a decision about his future soon. In this video I talk about the two routes he can take. What do you think he should do? Let’s talk about it.

    A little about myself:

New to my channel? I’m an average recreational cyclist that recently moved from America to Girona, Catalunya, Spain. The Vuelta España and The Tour of Catalunya will all be held here in Spain!

Sometimes I race and when I do, I share my training with you along the way. So far, I’ve done crit racing, road racing and gravel racing. I haven’t done a duathlon or a triathlon yet, but it is something I am thinking about!

So far in Spain, I’ve seen DSM cycling, SD Worx, Team Jayco Alula, Rally / Human Powered Health cycling, Ineos, Arkea cycling, UAE team emirates and more all training here. Did you know there’s also a GCN studio here?

Patrick Le wants to clear the air with Julian Al Philipe and that’s going to be a challenge especially after the number of disparaging comments he has made about Julian Al Philipe and his wife here’s a look at some of the few in case you have missed it but I think Julian Al Philip right now is in a position where he’s going to have to sit down and talk with Patrick whether he wants to or not and I say that because he is in the final year of his contract but the good news for Julian is that this year has been a standout year for him we know he’s a two-time world champion but this year especially in the contract year uh brings up the best in most people he uh Podium twice at the drill the Italia one in which was a stage win and there was a race earlier this year that I believe he got uh finished fourth in the points classification and the Name Escapes me but anyway he’s got good leverage going into this meeting regardless of what happens I think he definitely should talk about about an extension I’m thinking Julian should do one of two things in this situation now he could either stay with quickstep and uh finish out his career with one team use this year as leverage to maybe get a four or fiveyear deal uh with with some good money and he also could uh use the I mean Garen Thomas’s performance and what I mean by that is Garett Thomas is 38 years old and we see that he just finished second um or third excuse me in the drill de Italia Julian Al Philipe is only 31 and there’s a common belief that you know once you hit your 30s that you are old or an older cyclist but based on what Garrett Thomas is a able to do based on what Julian Al Philipe has done this year he’s got some good years ahead of him so I think a four uh year deal 5year deal asking for that is reasonable uh but he also could do another thing to Patrick and tell Patrick basically it’s been real it’s been nice but it hasn’t been real nice use whatever offer Patrick gives him and go to another team and there is a specific team that I’m thinking about that you’re probably thinking about as well and that is Red Bull Bora I say this because their agreement goes into effect next month um in June gets activated we know that Red Bull is basically a media house I don’t know where they get their money I don’t know anyone personally that drinks Red Bulls but hey people are drinking it they have money to sponsor a team that’s good recycling all right um they already got wal vard going there which well he’s rumored to go there I think that’s a done deal because he’s a Red Bull athlete he only has two years left on his yumbo contract that’s going to be easy to to buy out so they got W vard they’ve got rogl there and adding um someone like Julian Al Philipe for the next four or five years that is great for marketing the team um so I think it would be a win-win for Julian to get more money over whatever Patrick offers him and also get a Fresh Start not have to worry about somebody berating him in the media after every race or berating his wife uh crazy that I’m even saying that uh but what do you guys think that Julian Al Philip should do do you think he should stay with quickstep and just write it out for his career with the same team which I I think would be cool um or do you think he should leave and go to Red Bull Bora or a different team let me know in the comments and I’ll see you in the next video

    1. I think that if Alaphilippe wants to return to consider as great objective the great classics must look for another type of project because QUICK STEP is making a team much more thought for remco for something they signed last year to landa also are interested for the next year in Valentin Paret-Peintre .I also think that Alaphilippe is a rider that can be very good for teams without a solid leader in the classics, like INEOS Grenadiers, which is a team that needs a solid leader in the classics to really complement a solid block, currently they have good riders like Pidcock, Narvaez, Turner, Sheffield, but they lack a solid leader. And I think it's a signing that would be good for both parties because Alaphilippe would again be the absolute leader of the team and on top of that with good team mates and INEOS as a team would really lack a solid leader today and that would give them real possibilities to fight for big victories in classics.
