cycling event cycling about we’re currently in Albania in a town called shodra with our new biker friends Travis and Jordy overseeing the city is the result of Fortress originally built by the illyrians 2 500 years ago it was later rebuilt and used by the venetians and then the Ottomans as recently as the 18th century interestingly the name and legend of the Fortress rosafa comes from the story of a woman with the same name she was apparently built into the structure as an offering to the gods so that the fort would stay standing we read the story of razava which told us that after she was interned in the walls she asked to have two breast size holes left so that she could feed her babies this story might sound strange but it is still a part of folklore here in Albania so some women come to the Fortress to a spring where they anoint their breasts with water today the Fortress is partially standing and much of it’s been excavated to reveal secret passageways and doorways mostly to Nowhere if you bring a torch you can explore the secret passageways and Pathways like we did four of us don’t think we found all the Fortress has to offer true man tourism is a relatively new thing here in Albany given that the common Communist Regime only fell in 1992 after many organized demonstrations The razaka Fortress is a worthy draw card for anybody thinking of visiting this relatively unexplored country good
