Part 1 of an epic 200 mile road trip with Justin Collingwood on the Cubs.
A 97 mile route from Hereford to Aberystwyth via the Elan Valley, the Arch, Devils Bridge, Nant-y-Moch, Borth then into Aberystwyth for chips on the seafront. The Cubs getting a lot of attention from the other bikers 👍😁

good morning everybody Welcome to some more Tales from the bike shed or if you’re watching in the Americas Tales from the motorcycle bunker it’s Saturday the 25th of May and I’m going out for another ride with Mr Justin Collingwood um it’s Justin’s route this time we’re going to head off towards um leaving Harford heading off towards King R through the Elon Valley which I’m really looking forward to I’ve been riding pedaling around there and walking around there but I’ve never been through there on a motorcycle and I’m really looking forward to it so yeah over to De Elon Valley Devil’s Bridge I think we’re then heading off up to B then dropping down to abist withth again for the Americas ABW um stop for some chips AKA french fries and then we’re going to head off back through traran and then through to um abues in Devil’s elbow and all that good stuff and then the Lim Brian is it the librian reservoir down to Landy and then to the Owl’s Nest Cafe for a cup of coffee so it’s going to be really good I think it’s about uh Justin said it’s about 200 miles so it’s going to be an absolutely cracking day weather’s not as hot or sunny or hot or sunny as nice as it was when we did the the Richard Burton cuz it’s all as you can see it’s all got grayness winter is upon us but it’s going to be absolutely superb really really looking for I’ve been looking forward to this one for ages um so yeah really really excited right so what’s going on with the bike then um no change the only change is my little um phone holder I was when I come back from the ride the last time I was trying to adjust the angle and I snapped the bloody wat’s face here so you can’t buy these separate so they’re only 7even quid so I’ve ordered a new one and the case will come with some kind of like sun protection so that’ll be here next week the watch has been cable tied on now that’s good breaking news I’ve got my little center mounted putting things in basket as you can see I’ve put my sunglasses in there this is from Teemu I think it was £50 delivered just cable tied on it’s more practical than this bloody thing here so that’s I’m really I’m really liking that um the new wind jacket I think it’s a wind wind wind I forget what it’s anyway it’s 7 quid from Amazon really good tried it on the mountain bike last week really really pleased with it so happy with that um these are my new motorcycle gloves from Oxford it’s pretty cold today so I’m going to use them I have tried operating the GoPro on and off switch and it is quite tricky so I’m just going have to be careful I have got spare thinner gloves in the back other than that it’s all good oops sort that out so yeah that’s it real good to go I’m just going to get kitted up and go meet Justin and then head off into Wales so in a bit oh I’m going to I’m going to limit the actual video in because you don’t want to see too much boring stuff I think I’ll start videoing just before rer and definitely through the Elan Valley you’re going to really like that so right in a bit right let’s go and meet Justin right So Justin’s on his cub it’s going to be a long day going to be a good day I’m loving the uh putting things in basket really useful just past new Radner BR po proper out right we just filled up just need put a bit of gas in it’s cold I put some liners on another thin top we’re going to head off over to Rader now and then through the Elan Valley up to uh Devil’s Bridge hopefully the sun will come out later on but bloody hell my were freezing just in down to freezing so I put some line a line pair of thin liners on and a thin top yeah bloody bloody bloody bloody bloody weather Andy boy right then Rader Elon Valley let’s go i s we heading over there Elon Valley weather’s chirping up a bit Sun starting to come out a bit I’m glad I put the the liners in the gloves and that little thing top on yeah he gorgeous Elon Valley and that’s Rader just up ahead right at the clock for henig and uh abist we’re going straight on for the DS so Charlotte Church has bought a house around here somewhere somewhere over there big fancy thing I’ve Rod past it once when I did an ebike ride around here and I popped by one I right CH show I was it going there and she went tidy Andy Boy tidy yeah it’s somewhere over there there we go Elon Valley all right little sheep what’s going on there then there one of the dumps straight ahead of us normally when the water’s high it’s flowing over that and it looks Mega yeah so there’s one of the dams first dumb I forget what it’s called now but right we just taking a few snaps the bikes in the background looks like there’s something going on all right we’re off now through the valley proper proper scenery The Visitor Center down there that’s where we just come from w oh bloody garous eight Wales brilliant so this road we’re taking now this is a popular bike road to uh abis rth via Devil’s Bridge really bloody nice got [Music] all right just have some more pictures and not bloody lovely all right we just going to go over the other side cuz there a toilet do the quick pee take some more pictures surprising given the amount of rain we’ve had recently the uh the water level has dropped a bit quite significantly right we just had a quick feet we’re heading off now heading out of the dams heading that way making a way over to Devil’s Bridge a so that’s where we just come from down that Valley over there that’s the monks trod route I think it’s always bloody wet and boggy you got a lot of the uh off-roaders green laners going up there and it’s very roty bloody long as well St going I’ve done it once probably won’t do it again not bad is it people don’t Grumble at this right there’s a bridge over there jie said it’s a good shot for photographs so uh I’m going to take it there and get some nice snaps of the bikes on there offroading awesome proper ricy Bridge right on to the next photographing venue just in those all the good spots we are now entering kerigan kerigan right this this Valley here this is the one you come down on day two of the trans Cambrian way and just the other down there in the bottom that’s where you shoot off up puke Hill heading on to furi so the next place we’re going to stop is a a place called the arch I’m not quite sure what it’s all about but it there’s an art the old metal mines not quite sure what metal they’re after probably lead or something all it said is come is with metal mine I’m guessing iron is was being mined given the rusty rocks right we soon be approaching the arch now be on our right there it is over there the arch not quite sure what he all about the arch ladies and gentlemen the arch right we are now heading off to a garage the other side of Devil’s Bridge we’re both going to top up gra a coffee bloody Ace so far absolutely brilliant CU say really been looking forward to this one he Devil’s Bridge Devil’s Bridge there we go Dev there the the Devil’s Bridge there’s the bridges just down there got to pay to go and see them so these are the bridges at Devil’s Bridge you have to pay to go down and have a look at them right this is the a44 four now B Fe garage going to pull in drop some fuel look at driving a c right we got a comfort breake coffee and now we’re heading off over the mountain to B now I’ve never done this one but uh just being said I will recognize some of the route once we get over cuz it’s down by uh Nancy Aon so I’m looking forward to this little section this is all new until I get to a place which I know there there’s another Dam over there first I think that’s the first time I’ve seen that one not quite sure which one it is but this is Nancy mck Reservoir wowers look at that that Bloody Ace although I’ve ridden around here on the naron trails I’ve never been in this area bloody lovely really nice I can see the sea hooray so there’s the sea IDE look at that look at that come on heading down the Valley now all the way to both and then we’ll turn left at some point and follow it into abist wife bloody Ace ride so far bloody Ace Little Village called Tali Bond now we’re going left all right so we’re going to head off to B and then justtin going to turn his left and then carry on to a swice welcome to both ladies and gentlemen welcome to both as you is riding in there you got a lovely view of uh Southern snowdonia over the uh over the uh over the over the bay along the coast to the Abu Dhabi over there bloody bloody lovely it’s not bad B and this lass is at the top opposite abui by the EST du EST that’s really nice not a lot there good for dog walking right so for this Junction if you were to turn right that say you in this lass in the top top of the W S3 overlooking abui we’re going to turn left for claric came there in the previous life camping with the boys it was really nice very hot so I’ve never been up here before so this is all new stuff all right this has got to be us dropping down into ABY swi now that was a nice little run over from uh both up over the hill and dropping that back in this is got to be all the university stuff here I guess yeah apparently the uh the ratio of females to males is uh is in favor of being a male they’re outnumbered apparently Auber swi auat right we’re heading off up to the prominade B There is the seaon ladies and gentlemen bizar bloody brilliant ever since I got this bike I’ve always wanted to do this going to W Veris on the little CB thank you just been route to here looking forward to the route back as well at all the bikers bu h [Music] about a bit of class parking up here a bit of class we’re here at AB twice me and Justin there he is the bikes are getting a lot of attention as they should look this gentleman’s coming for a look no y you feel free sir this gentleman rides a big motor bicycle absolutely love them and he absolutely loves them these are great nice a he yeah it’s all you need quick shot of all the motor bicyclists on their big bicycles ABY swi seafront that’s nice there’s Justin’s there’s mine all good happy days it’s nice at the bikes get a bit of attention right should we give your bike some attention now sir you’re all
