Thanks to SR Suntour for sponsoring the trip, I needed it with how expensive the bike shipping was! Great suspension + great trails = great adventures.

Despite having a pretty bad mechanical on the trail, I was able to have another amazing day at Trutnov Trails. The Whistler inspired terrain is just amazing. I took as shot at the “A-Line” or “Whistler” section as they call it and couldn’t quite pull it off. I will be back to tackle it again some day!

🇨🇿Czech MTB Holidays (http://bit.ly/2GZBThw) invited me out for a great week of riding in the Czech Republic. I had no idea what to expect and I was blown away by the trails. There’s nothing like experiencing a foreign country on a guided bike trip.

yeah it’s the fourth day of riding here in the Czech Republic and today is a lot colder and it’s actually wet out which is probably good if you watch the last video who is dusty they were blowing the trails with the leaf blower which I’m still not really haven’t figured that out yet but uh yeah so this could be really really good it’s just overcast and pretty nice actually so looking forward to it this is where we’re staying and last night I had probably the best burger of my life and the rooms aren’t half bad either this is the town of truth north and it’s in the north of Czech Republic very hilly rocky so good it was like bohemian Squamish yesterday it’s so cool and the north of Czech Republic is on the Polish border basically so first day of riding we were actually in Poland a lot of it so this is a little flower shop and so these would be like $1 50 u.s. these would be like $1 30 u.s. and I love fuchsia so much I wish I could buy this right now and bring it home or all of these actually and then here you get two pounds of apples for 95 cents this trip is brought to you by SR Sun tor SR son tours concept of quick service products is at the heart of their design stretched out so i’ve got a new one but i didn’t want to make everyone wait for me one last day of horrible chained slap art guy right he leading the way all right this is where everybody’s showing up for enduro practice now the legs will get warmed up mm-hmm sounds like a hundred feet of climbing whoa what the hell I have no idea what I hit it looks super smooth to me yeah unless they got an outside pedal on something no puddles no nothing just hero dirt the rain was good spotted another ray oh yeah I like that paint that’s super nice the gray and orange man that gray and orange looks super good it’s like the reverse of mine my paint scheme but darker future check Olympians here oh they got a course it’s a competition this is legit this is cool this is such a little slice of culture it’s really a lot colder today I I could see everybody breathing and all our breath was visible pretty funny it’s probably 45 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday was 75 degrees Fahrenheit you don’t like the weather in Czech Republic wait five minutes we made it to the top nice big climb all warmed up now we’ve got dushawn joining us the mastermind behind these trails one of the people that got everything going out here and awesome I love it you did such a good job dushaan spent two years in whistler so that’s where the influence of these trails come from yeah so this is their next big project called flow Tech and they got about a third of it done so far maybe not yet a little less than that so we’re gonna ride a little bit but there’s a lot more to come over the next few seasons he has to sweet Wow let’s go hahaha there we go just the appetizer so he said the excavators could only get this far and then the winter came and there’s a lot more to be done holy crap that was really rad what does it take to get all this going a lot of work right yes a lot of people politics yes exactly very exactly volunteer community driven I thought we’re gonna have to climb back to the top but we have single track and kind of link us back up Oh so what was it like scouting in the forest looking for the big rocks and building stuff out here yes just as a start yeah not sustainable yeah yeah we found a BK XD style-challenged legit this is so scary oh oh I can’t do it I can’t do it okay to do and then down is you guys are crazy Psychopaths make the turn go up you just go it’s a there’s a gap but you just go then it’s super janky and slow and then you come over this rock roll oh he’s on me with the drop at the end decent drop man we did this one yesterday was excellent little sections crazy yeah [Music] and now we’re gonna continue we only did this much yesterday Oh chain yeah yep jockey wheel again happened yesterday oh it’s damn it lost the top jockey wheel oh this is no good I guess I should go look for the wheel and when something is wheel shaped it’s a not easy to find it just flies off into the the wood he found it oh okay sloppy chain I started the day with a sloppy chain and this is what happens I’m sure my crappy chain did not help matters but probably old derailleur too and that that cage is a little funky flipping in haha hi 50 like it like a fool no brakes quiet right now oh good time to having mechanical oh sweet they’re learning about the trails it gives me time hate people waiting for me do you have a spare cage the golden ticket look at that Swedish Paul is the hero oh yeah alright so we spend enough time on this the clutches awful right now I tried to tighten it stripped it out this is gonna be horrible alright now that I’m fuming with rage let’s see what this crazy trail looks like oh wow let’s drop right there [ __ ] yeah my derailleur is not in any shape to do this I’ll have to come back to copy it I’m hoping we’re going this way I kind of went okay this is nice I have to gonna be a little silly carrying the race okay even though the chain is sagging we are gonna get a run down this or crash this is nice this is like brand-new haha Lomer for the race riding blind haha nice okay warning you six sons of [ __ ] 900 millimeter tunnel 800 millimeter bars very cool that tunnel silly oh no I’m not clean I was I leaned I had to scrape a little bit holy crap yeah no problem the rescue vehicle hahaha so we just went back to the hotel got David and picked us up do [ __ ] on the back and also picked up a little pizza for in-between but I’ve got my chain and my derailleur down there so we can make the switch the day will continue so we’ve made our way to the trail house a little little bike shop in the back here and gonna put the new chain on I’m gonna put the derailleur on get it done this is pretty amazing there is a ton of mountain bikers out today alright we’re back up and running yawn help me out get it shifting so that was an ordeal and damn I hate making people wait I feel like I made the group wait like two hours but they had lunch and then they’ve split off so we’re gonna do some other trails and man I just think the lesson learned got to get better mechanic skills got to learn ins and outs of everything and just always be taking stuff apart and checking on it that little cage that broke the derailleur cage I’d already replaced that previously and it’s just sheared off the the bolt which is crazy not the bolt but the you know the piece that attached to it which is you know too much power but oh man it just sucks I’m so averse to buying new stuff just like uh spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on all this stuff and then to have to replace it for hundreds and hundreds of dollars kills me so ya better mechanicing is necessary that’s the lesson I’ve learned from this we got a Redemption run here I’m gonna try the a line I think I don’t know if I have mentioned this in today’s video or not but this is a big enduro practice today for a enduro race tomorrow this is where I put the power down and broke the derailleur cage a lot of shifting on these trails it’s the real deal is the sake man trying to race this it’s intense in this intense Eva okay oh [ __ ] alright that’s enough of that thought I could get it not today I’m perfectly happy to survive Hanzo yeah I wanted to keep going not stop oh I’m glad we got back though no I’m I know when to say no feels good to get it though check MCB holidays they have really put together a great itinerary riding when there’s great trails like this it’s easy so happy the bike is working that’s really a nightmare man something really bad happening I would be able to borrow a bike but still you don’t want to be just lose a day or anything to be horrible yeah inside line slower on that that is gonna kill somebody and during the race we are climbing back to the top and it’s the shortest way but it’s tough ah steady as she goes pain and pleasure so they say all the rocks out here they originated in Scandinavia in the Nordic countries and glacial movement and all the glaciers melting this scraped all this amazing granite all the way to here it’s pretty amazing it’s worth it I have to say it’s very clean there’s no trail trash and you know stuff like that in America it’s everywhere you know there’s a little there’s always something like that catches your eye that’s some piece of trash and it’s been pretty clean out here especially for as busy as this area is there should be all kinds of you guys take a little more pride I think Kenny called me in the Colby gingerbread also a word for drugs we’re getting high glasses are on top of my head right now help you see them why let me know this little section is so beautiful man it’s like whatever you great trail starts looking like starts out looking like and then it just becomes route hope you guys on patreon have been enjoying the extended cut videos of this trip there’s a lot of good action I love it I still come across a lot of people that don’t know what patreon is but it’s basically my own little membership club where if you sign up you get to my videos early and extended for like 3 bucks a month it supports me makes this channel exist and it’s a nice community to hang out with as well patreon.com slash bkx see you Sean had to get back he was getting his house renovated but he was telling me that these forests where birdie has some pretty interesting history with the 16th and 17th century the Catholics were chasing Protestants through here Protestants were hiding out then maybe before world war ii the or you know amongst world war ii the germans when the germans occupied czech republic they use this place as a training ground and then the russians did the same and now it’s the mountain bikers hopefully there will be no violence anymore should have seen that coming love the gingerbread how do I stay loose on the bike faster riding trails like this helps I’ll tell you that much I probably already said it 20 times these are good trails this has been an amazing experience and uh no no we’re only a couple days into it you more days to get help do Shawn was also saying he’s got the best job in the world man just getting people down trails he does coaching and just seeing them progress and then seeing people who ride trails that he helped build it’s just the best it’s all about fun right that’s all we are about in the Mike mountain biking industry I guess I’m in the mountain biking industry I’m in the fun industry really that’s guy all right we made it back Nellie Kelly said perhaps a soft drink is in my future I know I said I was gonna stop drinking them for BC bike race but I need all the calories I can get on these trips so we got back to the hotel I had a nice coke had some fries with some garlic dip relax cuz everyone else was still getting back and got the tools out and did some shifting learned a little bit remembered some of the it’s like I kind of already knew a lot of this stuff but when you’re on the trail and you’re trying to fix it and everybody’s waiting huh so we got it shifting pretty damn good now I’m feeling very good Thank You Yanni full service another solid day my legs are feeling it I’m on the fourth floor so going up the stairs I’m like oh oh I I had the burger again it was so good last night that I had to just do it again a burger so nice you got to have it twice and then after dinner at Paul and Doris gave me a little gift of some Swiss chocolates they had seen that I was doing this trip on patreon and they signed up and have been riding along with us it’s been awesome good good stuff I am digging the Czech Republic legit amazing trails I hope it comes through the videos I was watching some of it earlier and it’s like doesn’t look as steep in real life it’s so steep it’s so gnarly it’s so good we are gonna do some more riding tomorrow but until then thanks for watching you guys I’ll see on the trail

    1. One trail trick that have save me from the walk of shame is too carry an m-5 bolt and a few washers to do a makeshift pulley in a pinch. And yes I'm that guy that carries a bit too much junk in my pack….

    2. @8:30 This is why I use the metal ones. Also this is why I keep my driveline clean.

I wipe the chain before and after each ride, and lube every other ride. I remove the chain every 10th ride or so to soak in degreaser or mineral spirits, then relube with a wax base ptfe lube. My bike may be dirty, but the shock slides and chainline is clean.

    3. Nice man, tech and flow. Cool to hear some history of that area too. Props to SR Suntour for sponsoring the trip! I recently took advantage of their upgrade program which saved me $100 on a Epixon!

    4. Your "fuming with rage" voice sounds like my "having a good peaceful day" voice. Part of why I love watching you is your honesty, growth and ability to appear to remain calm when I would have been losing my mind. BTW, I truly admire your skills, I'll never have them. You keep riding, I'll keep watching.

    5. Amazing Czech videos! I need to do some riding in Europe. Maybe I'll ride in Italy next year.

By the way, how do you like Orbea? I heard great things! I plan to demo an Occam soon.

    6. I am not sure if anybody mentioned it but they use the blowers to clean the turns from dust so even if you rip it very fast you don't lose your front tire – safety measures 😉
