[Music] it’s the morning after the final night before the Jed Italia is done airport time here everybody leaving same from the Euros Sports Studios it’s the last call for the final gretto of this Jed Italia so without further Ado the Call’s gone out let’s review that final week the final week of the Jed Italia began with confusion a standoff in linho between Riders and organizers there had been back and forth between the two parties on the rest day but with snow falling freezing temperatures and conditions clearly unsafe Riders were suitably fed up they were feeling unheard but finally a compromise was reached and the opening part of stage 16 would be cancelled there were even rumors that Riders might not start at all but after a vehicle transfer to the next Valley they did and pretty soon Julian alaf Filip was at it again he be caught on the way to valgardena and despite a late Julio pelari attack it was ground POG day five-star T pogacha winning again and extending his already handsome GC lead much more Humane weather conditions greeted the Riders the following morning for a day riding beneath the Majesty of the dolomites some of the J talia’s most famous mountain passes were on the route and there was a mighty fight to get up the road those who who managed that included the young German from EF education easy post G steinhauser his father had been a pro he also has a very famous uncle but he made his own name as his own man arriving alone among the Giants of nature having beaten off competition from a superb Emmanuel gabard steinhauser sealed a sensational first pro win stage 18 was set to be the penultimate chance for the Sprint trains a trip almost entirely downhill to the Venetian plane was the order of the day and after a nervous run into Padova a chaotic final kilometer ensued points Jersey Giant Jonathan Milan was looking for a fourth victory of the race but he would lose the wheel of his teammates along the twists and turns and Tim medle took advantage winning a final week Grand Tour stage for the first time it was his second Sprint success of this jeto the final Breakaway Bonanza was up for grabs in the far Northeast 24 hours later that on the roads of fi after a frenetic fight to be at the front 19 Hardy Souls worked to get their chance but alaf Filip wanted to make an early selection immediately harving the number of potential winners last week legs can be unfaithful Companions and they deserted some of the bigger names and better Climbers on the way to sapada already a Jiro stage winner in the past Andrea vendran is better known as a faster finisher on a hard day but having taken a gap on the last descent he would maintain and extend it on the last climb beating off classy competition to take his de Aton AER squad’s second win of this race behind there was a scare for garine Thomas in the GC group with a late crash making he and his team Sweat Just hours before his 38th birthday all would work out well on that front and the Welshman would see his Podium Ambitions intact as he blew out his birthday candles the race organizers had given him quite the gift however the final and most difficult of mountain stages a double shot of Monte Grappa to consume one after the other at the end of a hearty jro menu digested at record speed yes the fastest ever Jiro in history would come to a head when pachad even with tired legs showed heart in all reality he’d finished the job a week beforehand but with his fans lining the mountain side the team eager for more the race was finished in big pogy style another Mega Ride making his own and others memories for life it was POG in pink it was Perfection the final stage was a pasarella or procession around the monuments of ancient Rome that is until it was time to race for the final Sprint photos proo and a start that was too fast for some of the more seasoned members of the bunch soon gave way to a ferocious fight for Wheels on the way to the coliseum in this year’s Italian gladiatorial Arena we were entertained once more Milan’s bike provided the drama a mechanical meant that he’d have a tense and Furious Chase back but meda’s legs brought the speed the Belgian at home of course on the cobbled finish a third stage win was his leveling the stage score up between the two sprinting Giants of this race 3-3 in the end and that was that Pacha crowned winner of the jeto almost three years since his last tour to France win Martinez and Thomas secured their own Podium places the Colombians first the welshman’s fifth in grand Tours Tiber was the first Italian white jersey winner since fabiio aru and Milan the first Rider to go backto back in the points classification for almost a decade impressive achievements but the headlines around records and numbers mainly belong to the overall winner pachad took six stages the most by any Rider in a single grand tour for 15 years his winning margin of almost 10 minutes was the largest at any jeto since the mid 1960s Alli to his performances in races not usually suited to Modern Grand Tour winners it looks increasingly like the Slovenia is set for immortality among the sports great how fitting he should secure that in the Eternal City every generation has its Heroes however not all are lucky enough to witness a legend others had copy and Merks fans now a privilege to watch tday pachad Modern cyclings all round master all of us following the jeto perhaps have existed in a bubble but there was plenty going on elsewhere the ride London classique is now a 3-day event with many of the fastest ERS of the Women’s World Tour battling it out on the roads of Southeast England laoren AAS fits that bill and the S Works Protime star beat letia pansta to the line in Colchester on the opening day the Dutch Sprinter doubled up on day two extending her GC lead by taking another fast finish this time from a smaller group laps of the Mal in London were on the route to finish the race and viz was Queen in front of Buckingham Palace making it a hattick taking the GC prize to wad fard made his return to racing in Norway at the national tour but the opening stage was all about another famous cyclocross name from Belgium n Tor n a fifth win and a month of racing on the road this season meant that he’d be the first leader of this 4-day race that honor would then be won by another Young Star 24 hours afterwards under 23 world champion AEL Lor from France winning another tough uphill ending ahead of Ethan hater and bad lemon stage three Sprint was contested by fard but it was won by Jordy M the Bora hrow Man’s first bit of personal success since his big day out in Paris at the end of last year’s tour the final day here around the pretty Port City of Stanger gave the race its romantic story veteran Sprinter Alexander Kristoff haes from the area and managed to take the last stage win the 9 first of his superb career so far the horn held on to take his first ever GC 1. You are the most bias commentator I’ve ever heard in my life.
You should not be in the great sport. Commentators are supposed to be neutral. No bias.

    2. Great coverage this year, Rob. Both Nathan van Hooydonck and Luke Rowe have provided some real insights into the current peloton and how racing works in 2024. And it was particularly interesting to see behind the scenes in the Breakaway studio, especially the contrast between the actual set and how it appears on screen.

    3. Great overarch Rob. Too bad my favourite rider Bini Ghirmay had to abandon the race early due to falling twice in the same race, but I was looking forward to Rob classic comment had he stayed and win a stage at this year Giro.

I can only say it’s delayed and hopefully it will happen this year at the Tour, and get to hear Rob making another classic comments for the ages.

    4. Absolutely brilliant coverage from start to finish : loved every minute of it, just made better by the brilliant team behind it all. Thank you so much.
