a certain German must have been obsessed with the single cylinder design as he made it into the Guinness World Records with the largest single cylinder motorcycle and went on to defend his lead the first time this German re di France Langer achieved This Record was in 1998 with a 900 a 58cc engine based on an MSU machine not long after vet de cut took his title with a 1440 CC unit but passionate and stubborn Langer wanted his lead back during his search for suitable materials langa came across an engine he believed was from some kind of a tank it looked promising for his project and later during discussions with the famous piston company Mal it turned out to be an old unspecified aircraft radial engine it’s piston was too heavy but Mal was more than willing to [Music] help the project was based around an NSU console 500 in 1950s single on the for Rog motorcycle with the frame from NSU the suspension came from Moto boy and old highly donut wheels and the rest was pure fabrication the whole engine had to be modified and strengthened to fit the project goal langa aimed for a 2,000cc displacement which necessitated extensive fabrication work on the cylinder and piston the cylinder was elongated by 66 mm with 17 cooling fins of 3 mm thickness and 10 4 mm fins on the cylinder head the valves were operated by a shaft with coil and hair pin springs for closing and the cylinder had 14 bolts to the crank case the original piston weighed a massive 3.3 kg but Mal was able to half it down to 1670 G thanks to a light alloy measuring 146 mm in diameter the crank shift had to be built from scratch and with a 118 mm stroke it TI the scales at a staggering 34 kg the exhaust was a 75 mm straight pipe producing a remarkable thumping [Music] noise the final displacement was set to be 1989 CC giving a modest out of 80 horsepower we don’t know the operating RPM range or the peak torque figure so we cannot calculate either of these however by ear it definitely doesn’t R very high and without any balancing or damping equipment it really cannot in order to not destroy itself note that the Bison only has a Kickstarter after 3 years of hard work langus bison 2000 is Wily known known and regarded as the largest single motorcycle in the world to be fair it isn’t the last attempt for the biggest motorcycle ther as we may speak about this three L machine sometime later

Thumpers deserve more love
Makes less horsepower than a gsxr 600. Meh,
If Alan Milyard sees this he will beat it.
when you need mo powa than a harley
Peak torque figure: yes.
Always excellent at digging up incredibly interesting stories…
Did I miss this information in the video? When was this crazy machine built? The clips look like 70s or 80s?
80hp? Never ever! :-)) Maybe 20. But surely more torque then you need.
Who is the German that makes the 260 cube V twin ?
It should be put in small car.
MAX RPM: 14
MAX Torque: Yes
My guess would be a max rpm of around about 1200.
Don't tell him about the Bulldog. Just : don't.
Kicks like a Bison!
Legend has it Z Germans built a single piston Diesel engine that cranked out 2000 hp in the late 30s
Amezing information………. Greetings from india🇮🇳🤠🤠🤩🤩🙌🤘🏻
Jeez kickstart, imagine the kick back
German engineers are so extra 🤣🏍️
What a stupid idea: the most unbalanced engine in the world with very low power!
B-B-B-B-B
Werners Dienstkrad isn't the real name of the bike with the wooden Fork. It's called the "Satteliterschüssel" what means something like "a good full Liter Pot"
Most impressive. Not 2000cc, nothing to do with power. Not blowing the top straight off the bottom within a few hiursnof running. That seems difficult. Where was the space for 14 base gasket studs found? How hasnt this removed so.much material the failure point of the 500 cases is not just transfered to slightly lower than barrel securing thread depth. How long it all lasts is another thing, fair play for getting it to run. Long live silly projects.

❤❤❤ very interesting video thanks
4.25:1 – is that the compression ratio? Its very very low
Bet that shakes like a wet Chihuahua,!!lol
I‘m sitting on the toilet right now and produced exactly the same sound as the motorcycle in the beginning of the video.
Must be giving out 3800 nm of torque
