I found a great deal on some Pearl Izumi kit- in particular the Pro bibs and jerseys in Urban Sage and whatever the navy blue floral is. I’m not the most fashionable guy around but both of these look like pretty cool kits, and at about $100 each, that’s pretty decent for a high end kit even if it’s a little dorky.

Anyways, for the urban sage in particular, I am concerned about how see-through it appears in photos: https://www.performancebike.com/pearl-izumi-mens-pro-mesh-short-sleeve-jersey-urban-sage-s-11122101hd4s/p1465573?v=1461207

Does anybody have any experience with these jerseys, and will I be showing everything I’ve got without a base layer in the green color? The floral blue does not seem as obviously see through: https://www.backcountry.com/pearl-izumi-pro-mesh-jersey-mens but that might just be because of the heavy pattern.

It’s mesh, so it’s gonna show what mesh shows. If you’re not secure in showing more skin I’d try another jersey

It’s not a Faux Pas if people can see the bibstraps. After all, they see it too if you ride with the zipper opened.

Aero jerseys tend to show the contour of your baselayer but not the nipples (but might depend on your physiology).

    3. Yes, the pattern on the blue one is effectively camouflage.

You really won’t know how see through the green one is until it comes in the mail. If it’s just a little looser fitting than it is on the model, it may not be a problem.

I have a few very thin, very lightweight jerseys and it isn’t as bad as it sometimes looks under the photographic studio lights where they take the product pictures.

If you wear contrasting bib straps, they can show up a bit more, but most of the time people still see you from your side or your back when you are on the bike.

If you wear a base layer, as I always do, it will also affect how these sheer jerseys look, although not everyone likes wearing base layers. I have a very thin mustard colored jersey, and the color really pops when I wear a white base layer underneath.

Finally, it really doesn’t matter. Good fashion or bad fashion, clash or coordinated, functional or fancy. As long as you are out there pedaling it’s all good.

Eliel makes a similar jersey called the “diablo” for very hot and muggy weather. I have one and personally, it’s not for me since it’s so see-thru.
