  1. Accidents, brawls, assaults. We cyclists are the most vulnerable. Any of us might have seen, recorded and heard. We stay in voice contact. We can ask / provide help / information, or just give us a good morning in the morning.

  2. Unfortunately, the overtakes you point out as bad, are what I get from the better drivers. The ones that I consider bad are about 6 inches or less from my elbow.

  3. Please can someone explain the laws on segregated cycle lanes/paths? …is it compulsory for cycles to use these where provided? I see an awful lot of cyclists on the road .. ( sometimes causing a nuisance sometimes not ) and right next to the road is a dedicated cycle track..more often than not raised to footpath level or shared space. .surely if the path is provided it should be used?

  4. These so-called bad overtakes still allowed the cyclist more space than many I've seen. I've even been overtaken by an "off duty" hearse even more dangerously. (I did wonder if he was trying to generate business!)

  5. The video is very bad – the demonstration cyclist is wobbling all over and does not check his way is clear before overtaking the parked vehicles – as a cyclist YOU are responsible to ensure YOU are not a danger to other road users and checking for your own safety.

As a pedestrian you always look to see if its clear to walk in the road.

I was taught to cycle so as to preserve my own life – most cyclists these days assume other road users (car drivers) have to avoid running you over and cycle as if they are immune to injury from cars.

If you cycle on the road do so in a way that doesn't put you in danger and act in a sensible way – watch your speed (you dont have good brakes) – you are not as stable as other vehicles and can easily be dismounted by a small stone or object in the road – if the traffic is heavy and slow moving and you have to cycle on the road go slower than normal as someone may step out between the cars or similar – if your on a narrow road check behind you often for large vehicles and move off the road if the vehicles behind are becoming frustrated as they will have less concern for you if your giving them cause to feel blocked by your actions. DO NOT assume you have more rights than the car/lorry/etc thats behind you – the driver may not be in a good mood.

You dont have a shell of steel around you and you certainly dont have any chance if you are dismounted in flowing traffic.

You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement. Laws HA 1835 sect 72 & R(S)A sect 129

  6. what about cycling with dogs in trailers I can find nothing on this on Utube regarding UK.???? we have rights too you know???. pavements are your friend in UK otherwise you are dead meat homies. In UK many country roads have no pavements, just hedges up each side and its a totally dangerous struggle with a trailer and a queue of cars up your arse up a steep hill. pretty hopless really. Though I must say, on the whole, british motorists are very courteous, but these yuppie pricks are the ones who like to travel fast and are the road ragers. If they road rage me, I will introduce them to ………say helloooo ..'……"meet my little friend"…   BAM!   MUDDAFUKKA!!##x!!#@#!!!

  7. No, I have not learned anything from this vid. The only thing it might teach you, is that the cyclist does not know how to ride his bicycle. Besides that, the UK roads are mediëval. Get a good infrastructure and kill the helmets. Greetz from NL and have a nice Brexit.

  8. The comments for this vid just go to show the low standard of education regarding the driving standards by car drivers in the UK. Maybe people should have to pass an IQ test before being being aloud behind the wheel of a car. That would cut the traffic congestion down by 90%

  9. I do think some more changes need to be made more cyclists brake more road laws then drives do cyclist should be made to get a license to ride on the road and get insurance and should be fined if seen braking the law

  10. Cyclists should be riding much closer to the side of the road, not like in this video, in the center of the lane. Much lower possibility of problems for everyone.

  11. These 'bad' overtakes are better than those I experience most of the time. I even get overtaken when there are parked vehicles both sides of the road. If drivers think there's enough room to squeeze through, they'll do it.
