I must say, although Brussels isn't an Amsterdam it does look very navigable by bike!
It's getting better and better every year. I would always cycle at about the same place as the right wheel of a car in front of me. In case the road is too narrow to be overtaken safely, then I would go right in the middle in a way that nobody would mistakenly think they can overtake me. Always be seen, try to overtake from the left unless the traffic is stopped and there is a cycle path.
