the iPhone 6 released just about 9 years ago and I remember back in 2014 back in high school if you had one of these you were pretty cool and I just so happened to buy one of these cheap off of eBay this is apparently a grade A iPhone 6 16 GB but is it still useful here today in 2023 well let’s find out this little phone was $59 including shipping sadly it is only 16 GB but that should be enough to get by with given that I don’t use too many apps myself tearing into the bag we’ve got a whole lot of bubble wrap for protection there’s also a USBC to lightning cable and of course the phone itself it does appear to be in good condition now to power it on the package had been sitting for about 30 days perhaps the battery went flat within that time frame with power connected it did spring into life however it kept flashing the Apple logo and shutting off so I decided to hold down the home button which showed we needed to restore it through iTunes I attempted to update and restore this didn’t work giving me error code 4013 perhaps it’ll work on a Windows computer once again downloading the latest version of iOS and there was no option to restore now we get an unknown error 2009 which doesn’t even exist on Apple’s website anymore clearly there is something Hardware related wrong with this phone and I didn’t buy this to fix I bought it as a grade a fully functional phone the 30 days had just passed and the seller was somewhat reluctant to take it back and refund me they said I shouldn’t have left it in the box for a month but mate honestly if the item you’re selling isn’t faulty it won’t just die from sitting around for a month thankfully they did agree to refund as long as I sent it back that day second time’s the charm right I bought another phone from that seller hopefully we have more luck with this one I made sure to open this one up as soon as it arrived once again a nice amount of bubble wrap a charging cable and of course the phone itself condition-wise I’d say it’s absolutely great air but it is absolutely covered in Gunk it appears as the battery needs charging as as well somewhat surprising since they would have packaged it up only days before after letting it charge for an hour it did indeed turn on this time much more functional thankfully but definitely covered in a layer of finger Grease the front camera looks a lot better without it a bit of lens cleaner got the glass looking like new again the white antenna bands were looking a little bit grubby so I wiped them off with some eucalyptus oil much better now this phone must have been taken care of for it to survive this long and still be in this condition so let’s say you want to go out and buy the latest and greatest I phone well you’d want to protect it right well that’s where today’s sponsor casify comes in with their cases in all different shapes and sizes it’s a beautifully presented box that beauty extends to the cases they’ve sent over not all cases are created equal my brother dropped his phone from waist height and the back glass shattered in the case but with case def Fire’s range of heavy duty cases you don’t have to worry about that the ultra bounce case here is their strongest one yet so let’s really put it to the test for an added layer of security why not slap on an impact HD screen protector it’s it’s super easy to apply and you honestly can’t even tell it’s on there have you ever dropped a phone from a bridge no matter what side your phone lands on the ultra bounce case has the endurance and is tested to withstand a whopping 260 drops on all Corners apart from being a bit Dusty it’s completely fine and how about a bit of footy with a bit of Gaff tape she’ll be [Applause] [Music] right once again not even a scratch so now it’s time to give it a booting a pair of still capped work boots for maximum impact last of all a high throw directly onto concrete falling from great height face down onto concrete inevitably cause the screen protector to crack as it’s designed to do after all the drops the phone is still in pristine condition with so many designs to choose from there’s something for everyone and when you’re done with your case you can send it back for a discount on a future purchase from case toy honestly don’t wait until it’s too late a case toy case is a great investment cuz trust me I’ve been caught out many times before go to the description and click my link Cas toy.com /p to save 15% off your case toy order I really had fun throwing that iPhone around this one however definitely wouldn’t survive that so let the swap begin previously I’ve been using the red magic 8s Pro which is a very nice handset thankfully the iPhone 6 also uses a nano SIM my phone plan doesn’t offer 5G which is great since this iPhone is only capable of 4G cellular connectivity as soon as I connected it to the internet I had the option to download the latest supported version of iOS 12.5 .7 which was released in early 2023 so it should be pretty secure I then patiently waited as the update completed now finally here is my experience using the iPhone 6 first of all how is it as a phone for phone calls the answer is still totally usable no one complained on the other end and I could hear people very clearly as an Android User I much prefer iMessage although typing messages and documents on such a small screen is cumbersome for me I forgot just how small this generation of iPhones was to this day they’re still the thinnest there were several times where I had a mini panic attack thinking I’d lost my phone when it was in fact still in my pocket even though it’s the thinnest iPhone ever it’s still has a headphone jack and you may want to use it as the single downward firing speaker isn’t very good let’s open it up and see exactly what I got surprisingly most of the apps I use every day had an older compatible version available for iOS 12 I was hoping that Twitter would work an older version was available however you can’t actually log in or use it out of all the apps that did work some were fast and responsive Facebook was still excellent but then you’ve got ones like the McDonald’s app which is deceptively simple but it’s painfully slow the Aging hardware and only 1 GB of RAM is a far cry from The Buttery smooth performance I saw on the iPhone 15 Pro another major difference is going back to an iPhone that uses Touch ID it’s so simple fast and reliable paired alongside NFC it made payments super easy if the latest iPhone still had Touch ID I’d be using that over facial recognition this is such a small small phone and the battery is only 1,810 milahs I thought it was worth checking the health of the battery using 3u tools it says that the health is close to 100% but is definitely original given the 2015 date and 425 charge cycles look I know quite a few people that are still using Apple’s older XR and se2 models they’re always running out of battery and plugging in throughout the day will I find this using the iPhone 6 oh yeah I was charging it constantly I’ve been having pretty poor battery life and after a random shot down it turned on a limited performance mode and you still can go into the settings and disable this if you want I’d also recommend disabling background app usage Facebook alone was responsible for almost 50% of the battery drain the low 16 GB of storage isn’t a huge problem since most things are in the cloud and streaming base these days and a lot of people don’t even store videos or many photos that being said even with the few apps I have on here I still have just over 5 GB of space remaining now onto performance with only 1 GB of RAM you’ll find yourself switching between apps often and requiring apps to load completely from the start there’s no denying that it is a somewhat sluggish user experience but it still manages to play Minecraft I was easily able to hop onto a survival server and play for now such features are still supported on here to me a solid camera is one of the most important parts of a phone given the sponsorship of this video I had the opportunity to compare the six to Apple’s best and newest the primary camera in the 15 pro has a slightly wider field of view and with a higher count far greater detail although in bright well lit scenarios both are pretty decent The Wider aperture helps to separate closer objects from the background the iPhone 15 Pro is a clear winner colors are far more washed out looking from the six however that may have more to do with Apple’s aggressive processing in newer versions of iOS the biggest difference is definitely video with the six maxing out at 1080p 60 the 15 Pro can do 4K 60 and the optical image stabilization makes for a far smoother video this is all handheld footage by by the way the iPhone 6 produces a far softer image and keep in mind this is after I did all those drop tests with the 15 Pro so clearly it survived them without any issues another area the six really falls behind in is its selfie camera it’s just 1.2 Maps so could I get by using one of these permanently if I had no other choice absolutely the few apps that couldn’t be used anymore could be replaced by simply using the web browser the photo quality was also fine which is pretty important to me a new battery would also make this a far better experience these are dirt cheap these days and it’ll get you into Apple’s ecosystem it would be great to see apple make a phone this small again but with the iPhone Mini being discontinued I won’t hold my breath the form factor of the iPhone 6 is still really nice and as far as I know it is the slimmest iPhone that Apple ever released but the limited RAM and limited storage means that it’s going to become less and less useful as time goes on anyway I had a good amount of fun going back and using this device it’s amazing to think something from 2014 can be considered stalgic at least in my mind anyway thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed and I’ll see you in the next [Music] video

The 6S for a 10-20 dollars more is a much better deal, you get iOS 15 so virtually all apps will work and you get most of the new features such as dark more etc. you get a way snappier performance, much faster touch id, far better camera and a Taptic Engine. The 6S is a far better bang for your buck.
Lol watching this video from my iphone 6
This sponsor aged poorly 😂😂😂
Using an iPhone in 2023…
I think it's a crime to stop updating a phone that's still usable. States should take a common step on this issue and ensure that updates are provided for at least 10 years.
Im thinking about getting one for the old games
WHY UPGRADE THE PHONE YOU COULD HAVE JAILBROKEN IT 😞
So here is the stupid part.. my iPhone 6 some how has better audio from the 3.5 mm jack thank my iPhone 13 with the apple dongle.. and I am driving Sennheiser 599 SE..
I know that impedance plays it's part here. But after listening to songs this morning I found out that the iPhone 6 is able to drive a higher volume.. no lossless or hi-res audio but the sound is way better..
So I checked it with a line in recording to audacity and get this.. the dynamic range and channel separation is miles ahead of the new iPhone 13.. We are being downgraded and trapped with trash. Yes it's faster with better camera.. but that's it. As my daily driver my Asus ROG and iPhone 6 still are way better..
Pretty sure that the audio hardware is better..
Shite
I use my 6s, for minimalist phone
I’m sorry but.. the McDonald’s app hasn’t changed. It’s still buggy and horrible
I am neither an android lover nor an iphone hater but I just wanna say that it is sooo humlitating for apple because he is just comparing the latest phone with a 10 year old phone. And trust me, I feel as if both are almost same…
As someone born in 2014, I feel old.
I’m currently watching tos on a iPhone 6s
I remember when I used this… ten minutes ago! I'm still using an iPhone 6 that I inherited from my daughter about 8 years ago, LOL! I changed the battery once – cost about 60 bucks, and it's due for a new change, it just gets old. Every few months I download my pictures to my desktop, that's the biggest storage issue.
Lately, though, I'm getting locked out of many app updates (apple doesn't let you upgrade past IOS 12), and it hurst a little not being able to open youtube, to be honest. (I don't care about twitter or FB) Great for productivity though! =) I just can't get myself to pay for a phone more than what I paid for a gaming desktop. Thanks for the video!
Can you still use spotify on iphone 6?
I actually still use a iPhone 6 (64gb) in 2024 and it’s fine
Will Snapchat work on iPhone 6?
iPhone 6 was the best because it was the last phone with an AUX port
Too bad didn't test the 6S… one generation different yet can run a still-supported/updated version of iOS. Would've been way more up-to-date. And is there much of a difference in price with non-plus vs plus? The Plus version would've solved screen size issues, and more/better cameras.
6 was bleuh….the 6S was the best iPhone ever made however…except for it's awful battery issues (but was also such an easy phone to repair yourself)
Me who is using a iphone 6 plus in 2024
for around $30-40 usd this is a great deal ngl.i'd consider this over an android phone that costs the same (for phone calls and social media apps)
I still have a iPhone 7 and it WONT DIE.
Stop with the fuc@ ads at the beginning of the video please leave it at the end🧏♂️
My grandma still uses her iPhone 6. I googled some things on it for her and it was weird how random apps and websites don’t work but otherwise the phone functioned perfectly since she didn’t need it for much more than a flip phone that sometimes took photos
Of off eBay
I still have mine I like to watch vids on at the house sucks they don’t have anymore updates for it tho 🫤
Buying from the same seller is crazy
I’m using a iPhone 6 in 2024 and play anrena brakeout just fine
I still have mine and it still works good and I use it sometimes 😊
Wow my dreams phone
More fun in Philippines bacolod
The form factor is elegant. I have my 6s with OS 14.5 and new battery. So slim and light.
