in today’s episode of the motor home mat podcast we discuss a recent incident where a family’s motor home holiday to Scotland went horribly wrong in the news an investigation has been opened after motor homers are seen dumping toilet waste on the nc500 and we answer your questions about light deflectors for France and a way to protect your motor home from theft [Music] welcome to the motor home M podcast industry insights and expert advice for the world of motor homes Caravans and camper van I’m Keith Gooden and I’m motor home Matt and it’s brought to you by that leure shop.com now please remember to follow on your favorite podcast app and click the bell and subscribe on YouTube brought to you by arabas creative. co.uk let’s delve into the news shall we then Matt an investigation has been opened as motor homers are seen dumping toilet waste on the nc500 first of all what’s the nc500 North Coast 500 it’s 560 something miles I think it’s a route around Scotland kind of like Route 66 but all around the coast of Scotland and it’s very very beautiful and it comes after a post on the nc500 the dirty truth Facebook group yeah it’s this is awful I mean there’s lots of talk isn’t there that this is happening all the time uh I’m not sure that is true but I have no doubt it’s a minority that do it uh and they do sport boilet the majority that would never even consider doing this what is in people’s minds that they think my toilet is full I’ll just dump it at the side of the road yeah well I guess they don’t want a full toilet they want to use it again uh it’s just horrendous it’s horrible I don’t why you doing it people stop it it must be against the law surely uh we’ll talk to the water companies about that yeah yeah enough about that I think now the camper van and motor home professional association camper says that chemical toiled waste should never be emptied anywhere other than a designated area at a campsite a motor home service point or in your own sewage system at home in other words like the chocolate wrappers take it home like chocolate rappers yeah don’t you remember the countryside code I yeah I do yeah yeah Britain and that family used to come along the cartoon family and they used to eat their sandwiches and as their chocolate they used to leave the mess behind yeah I do remember that now Countryside C indeed well take your toilet was and what’s interesting is they’re saying pour this down your own sewage system we did a whole episode on this didn’t we on can I dump my toilet waste in my chemical toilet waste in my toilet and the water company said no and we like why it just goes into the sewage system provided of course you’re not on a septic tank system that’s key and if you are really important you’re using a green or septic tank friendly chemical so A green chemical or Soo something like that but if you’re on a main main sewer system then yeah I I say pour it down your toilet as camper are um and we spoke to numerous water companies about exactly this uh and it the problem then of course is what the water companies do with it and it’s been all over the news isn’t it that they’re just tipping it in the rivers uh by the way next week we’re talking about Matt’s holiday in Scotland just give us a a a brief Insight was it good it was amazing that brief enough yeah that’s pretty brief honestly we went to the outer herdes and I really do want to go back so we only did Lewis Harris and sky but we want to definitely do some of Harris again that sounds like a solicitors doesn’t it Louis Harrison SC it’s like a boy band in the 70s and we want to do uh us uh Bara mle and Iona next there you go 174 miles round trip listen to the next podcast Welcome to our monthly campsite feature with Alan Rogers Alan welcome I’m m still not called Alan still called Rob oh you still got his name on your T-shirt I know anyway so Alan where are we this month so we’re in the doo region oh my favorite part of France thought it might be that’s why I put this one in for you thank you so come on then tell us more so this campsite is part of the hopia group um and it’s in bu um and we chose this for our as the winner of our sustainability and environmental awareness award a Punchy title absolutely I’m not going to repeat the full Awards come on let’s do the Alan Rogers caravana motor home Club European campsite of the Year Awards 20124 23 23 sorry oh yeah last year’s Awards last year’s Awards been awarded now anyway so hopia group are a big group aren’t they they’ve got 5050 campsites haven’t they yeah they’ve got um 50 in in Europe um a couple in the nether mostly in France um the other one in Spain and but they’re actually um started in North America um in Toronto okay so it’s a French Canadian company originally yeah absolutely okay and they’ve launched something called the Utopia Utopia Foundation which is their kind of framework for Success what is that all about so for them sustainability uh isn’t all about the environment um it’s also about um promoting responsible tourism de vop in eco-friendly environments um training up new managers so they’ve got a really good training scheme for anybody uh young entrepreneurs who are wanting to get into the camping Game Y uh and they’re wanting to grow the awareness of sustainable tourism I see and this is kind of making their future sustainable isn’t it their future proofing the business by doing this absolutely yeah um and this particular site in the dooro is is absolutely beautiful um and it’s it’s quite modest in comparison to some of the other sites that we’ve featured so they’ve only got 145 touring pitesan modest in terms of size in terms of scale yes so 145 pitches is a small campsite by French standards isn’t it it is yeah yeah you can get thousands of pictures on some of the they’re like towns absolutely yeah so what features could we expect to see here so um on site there’s a lovely pool uh nice play area and the doo is really famous for walking and cycling and they’ve actually got a climbing wall on site and wine absolutely my favorite obviously they got a climbing wall on site yeah great for the kids oh brilliant this is so this is a familyfriendly campsite as well it is yeah and and if you’ve had um you full of onsite activities then you can head offsite to the local town which is Rocka madur have you ever heard of that I’ve heard of it so this is a strange town tell us more well you’ve probably seen pictures of it it’s typically French uh the tourist board um it’s one of those places mon s Michelle Rock andador it’s up there with those um so it’s um built on three levels and I’m going to read this out from the sheet the locals say that it’s they have the houses on the river the churches on the houses the rocks on the churches and then the castle on the Rocks so it’s it’s sort of built up in three or four layers um it’s Sacred City and it’s on the uh St James Pilgrim route so what is the St James Pilgrim route so a pilgrimage route is a walk um a route that um Believers walk along um it’s similar to theout route that goes to Santiago compostella in Spain okay right okay so it’s a real destination if you’re a big fan of walking yeah absolutely stunning yeah yeah brilliant a beautiful region so Rob when’s this site open so this site’s open from April till September okay and cost the big question we always have how much does it cost per night that’s it’s sort of in that mid-range again that we’ve talked about so from 35 per night so one last time Alan just remind us the name of the campsite so it’s part of the hopia group and it’s in bu it’s D brilliant Alan Rogers thank you very much you can find out more about all of Allen’s campsites at mhmp doino Alan [Music] Rogers it’s the Moto home mat podcast I’m Keith Gooden and I’m Moto home mat and it’s brought to you with that leure shop.com in today’s podcast we’re covering something really quite shocking uh a family uh were on the nc500 up in Scotland they pulled over in the teeth of storm Kathleen and then what happened Matt well they were sat there having lunch inside the motor home and it actually got blown down the hill they were allegedly at the top of a cliff but at the top of this hill the mot was actually blown over several times and rolled down the hill with the family in it and you’ve been talking to somebody about this haven’t you yeah so they were on a a motor home holiday that they they’d hired it from a company called Luna motor home hire and Peter who owns the company is a good friend of mine uh and he was kind enough to talk to me and explain what happened Peter thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak to me I was wondering what to ask you and I guess how did you react when they rang you and said that the motome had been blown off a cliff um well thanks for having us on here mate um to be fair the first reaction was very much oh my god really and I didn’t believe them initially they were um I asked them to to sort of describe uh the incident and where they were I asked them to even mention the number plate to me because again couldn’t believe that it was actually going to be one of our vans we have had calls from the past with other companies and uh yeah just unbelievable just I couldn’t believe it Matt I couldn’t believe it it was uh worrying and scary um we obviously checked that they were okay initially uh and then gave to some immediate advice and uh asked for some photos so yeah it was uh worrying worrying so Pete just tell us exactly what happened there’s a family in a Mot home mom dad two teenage kids two dogs and they were in Scotland they were driving along and it was very windy what happened next yeah so they parked up on a like a layby and the guys said to me that the wind was dying down the wind then uh had a freak gust of wind that blew the van over and down the side of the Hill they said that the van had rolled over a couple of times they’re not sure how many times possibly up to three but what she did mention was that the van had as it was rolling they could see the roof being ripped off of the van and and that was it it came to a stop at the end she said that as they were getting out the van was falling around apart around them and uh yeah I mean you know scary scary if you look at the photos you can see that the beds are all over the place the gas bottle was laying next to one of the beds intact I might add which was um unbelievable if I’m honest the van looked like it had blown up yeah well it I’ve seen the photos obviously and it looked terrifying so they were all sat in it having lunch you said to me off camera that the kids were in the beds when this went yeah they were laying down um on the beds after having a very late lunch and they were waiting for those winds to die down before moving on um you know I mean if the kids were on those beds and that van was rolling over fridge alone coming apart from the wall uh would have been heavy enough to hurt anyone uh don’t forget that as a high company we put in all the cutlery and Crockery and everything they would have been that would have been flying everywhere knives um the dogs would have been flying around all over the place it’s again it’s unbelievable you just you can’t believe how lucky they are and they walked away unhe hurt pretty much is that right pretty much yeah pretty much the kids uh were un hurt the uh gentleman had to go to the hospital to have a look at his eye apparently there was a bit of damage to his eye the lady uh quite clearly had a very had purple bruise over one of her eyes and she did say that she was purple all down her body from bruising so yeah I mean other than a few bruises uh they seem to be very very fortunate and do you know if they’ used a motor home before Pete they did say that they had used motoh homes before not on the nc500 but in general they have hired from someone before it wasn’t us um they are Keen holiday makers by the sounds of it and Keen Explorers so I think that they were possibly surprised themselves as to what happened now you say they were on the nc500 obviously it’s a really popular route with many firsttime motor homers but equally with people who are been motor homing for years I’m here on the outer Hees talking to you and we’ve been you know we’ve had motor homes for decades but what would your advice be to people looking to do the nc500 for maybe the first time uh or even first time in a m home on the nc500 I think as a company that what you are we have various different sizes of motor home if you are going to the nc500 as a tourist and you’re not used to it you should possibly choose a smaller motor home to go in we do have as as well as you do in your high company I believe we have four birth panan conversions it does mean that it is a little bit smaller but it is worth using those smaller Vans for that route the roads are quite narrow the route is tricky it’s not like driving around a small village in the center of England the weather’s different there’s lots and lots of people that go out there and they’re not necessarily forgiving when it comes to passing each other on the roads so maybe even visit the area check it out first just double check make sure you do plenty of research about the route make sure you plan well it’s not five night holiday it’s a 10 night to two weeks minimum especially from our area you know down south driving 600 miles before you even get there and then you’re looking to do another 500 miles around the top of Scotland it’s not a quick Journey it’s it’s meant to be a lengthy holiday to enjoy and not to race around the uh the North Coast of uh Scotland I’ll tell you one of the things we’ve noticed here is that they don’t have weekdays here they have weather days the weather changes in half an hour and yesterday we were out on a walk on a beach beautifully Sunny you know almost warm not quite uh it’s April as we record this and that literally 20 30 minutes later we had really heavy rain and it was really windy all of a sudden um and this morning we broken up in the hills behind the van I’ve got snow on uh there was a heck of a storm last night and you we thought we were going to get you know blown around rather aggressively last night but you we’ve parked fairly sensibly as we’ve been trying to because this story’s been on on our minds whilst we’ve been traveling around up here Pete obviously you’ve got insurance but what is the future for Luna Moto high can you carry on can you replace the motor home what’s the future look like for you we’ve been fortunate enough to have some very flexible investors uh who invest into the company um we have managed to get some money together to purchase a new van out of Italy roller team had a spare one available that was meant to go to New Zealand so we’ve been very fortunate being able to buy one so our customers that are booked into those vans will be fine we we’ve forgotten Insurance it is going to take time we have completed all of the paperwork necessary the people involved have helped with that um so really it’s just waiting now Matt if I’m honest uh we don’t know the answer right now hopefully we’ll get something soon I’m hoping for a payout the only things on my mind are how is how expensive is our insurance going to be next year it’s not something that we can just recover from by by just purchasing a new van and you know having the extra Finance uh with one of our investors it’s costing us money it will cost us money and sometimes think that hirers are not aware of the potential impact on business if they damage a vehicle it’s not cheap for us and yes it’s a worry we’ll wait and see what happens yeah well Pete thank you again for joining me this morning I wish you a very Speedy resolution to this whole situation and thank goodness again the family were relatively unharmed and survived um and I wish you every success for the future thanks Matt take care that’s Peter Schmidt the managing director at Luna motor home hire one thing that strikes me Matt is thank heavens the family are okay yeah absolutely it’s just remarkable it was unbelievable that they were actually in it and walked out of it as Peter says you know there were some minor injuries sustained but the kids were totally uninjured you and thrown clear uh it’s just amazing I mean it must have been as I said terrifying for the for the family uh and Peter’s right you there are some real good tips uh that he gave in terms of planning for a trip like this you if you don’t feel safe move I know when we were parted up we were in oool overnight Wai to get the ferry to go to the AR of Harris and and this was at the tail end of this storm actually it was a day or two later and we parked nose into the wind looking at the sea but we did all night long I was ready to get in and jump and and drive away uh and we had the seats facing forward so we could the keys were accessible on the table no outside cover on the wind screen so we could literally in seconds open the blinds and go and relocate the motor if we had to it’s not really the recipe is it for a nice relaxing motor holiday the way you’re painting I suppose you got to be looking at the weather forecast and making and making serious decisions about whether you’re actually going to start a a drive yeah it might cost you a lot of money to hire a motor home but you got to be prepared to change your plans haven’t you yeah absolutely yeah and and planning ahead is key uh there’s a great weather app called XC weather it’s all very well looking at the BBC weather app but it’s a forecast it’s not telling you what’s actually happening they’re going to they’re telling you what they think is going to happen yeah quite and you know as we know they often get it wrong but XC weather is telling you what is happening and it’s updated every hour it’s free and the other brilliant app we use is rain alert and it’s a 3-hour uh live view of rain radar and it shows exactly where the rain is moving across the country and we lived by these two apps whil we were in Scotland there one I always there’s one I always look at is um the Met Office rainfall radar which isn’t an app it’s uh you can Google it that’s that’s your friend and they update that update that every 15 minutes and it goes from uh actuality into into the forecast so the two overlap and you can actually see the clouds moving in which is which is a help yeah I think the same thing as rain alerts but it we as I say we were looking at these two apps all the time cu the weather there what was remarkable is how quickly it changes and we would be on a on a beach walking along in the Sun and literally 10 15 minutes later it would be gray really cold and hailstones and the weather changes so fast uh you which is lovely when it’s raining and it’s soon going to be followed by Sun but I think that’s what caught this family out and this was a freak storm and it must have been a gust of over 90 M hour that lift to lift a m home a big family m home with people in it with people in it and all their stuff you know I mean they they were there for I think over a week so they would have had a fair amount of stuff with them uh and it’s yeah as I say it’s just shocking terrifying easy to underestimate the weather isn’t it this was of course a higher motoo but it’s important to know that uh what you’re covered for with your own motor home so what do people need to keep in mind then Matt uh well of course insurance is really important as it is now for Peter and his claim for his whole mot home so it’s making sure you’ve got appropriate insurance cover uh you know bear in mind there’s different levels of insurance so it’s fire and theft which is you know does only covers when it’s parked up third party fire and theft doesn’t cover your m home at all uh just the third party you’ve hit fully comprehensive covers the mot home for all eventualities so it will cover you if you damage someone else’s motor home or car and of course yours in a complete loss scenario which is what we got here so make sure you are properly insured because you know this family did not predict this uh and so making sure you’ve got adequate insurance is is really important and remember too if you’re go into Europe make sure you add European cover so this happened in Scotland but if this had happened in France make sure you add European cover we’ve we’ve covered this before that you know if you don’t add European cover you’re not necessarily fully comprehensively insured uh so check with your ensure that you have got European cover for the period you’re there and that they are covering you fully comprehensively and the same with Breakdown Cover as well make sure you’ve got a breakdown cover that will will enable you to get away from the Moto and get home yeah when I took the car over to France last year um I founded the insurance company and they said yeah you covered third party when you’re driving in France and it cost me £675 to cover the car for an extra 5 days so it’s not necessarily expensive not at all no same with Breakdown Cover it’s a bit more expensive than that but it’s it’s an insurance policy that means you’re protected and you’ve got the cover you need if something goes wrong because let’s face it you know nobody predicted this terrible accident and nobody nobody really caused it they were they were doing the right thing they parked up they didn’t want to drive in these terrible winds and so parked and yeah there we are so thankfully they are all okay uh and the other bit as well to think about is legal expenses so if something goes wrong and it involves a third party and things go legal then having legal cover is really important as well I always buy it uh when I’m taking out insurance so go over your policy with your insurance provider to understand what’s covered what your deductibles and excesses are and if there’s any exclusions as well and remember to update your policy as needed especially if anything changes with your motor home remember you know there’s a lot of variables involved who don’t just assume that you’re covered bring the insurance company I’ve always found them to be uh really helpful yeah that’s right and of course we’re sponsored currently by ripe and one of the reasons I endorse ripe is that you can build your policy and only pay for what you need plus they’re really easy to get hold off if you need help so if it goes wrong you can give them a call just pick up the phone and you’ll get through to their UK call center something about them I love and you can click the link in this episode at of our favorite parts of the podcast where you speak directly to Matt and he answers the questions if he can and if he can’t he’ll find somebody that does well I’ll do my best first of all Caroline Longman has been in touch hi Matt just watched your latest video congratulations on overcoming heart trouble um you might be interested to know that more women than men die of heart disease in this country so I do hope you draw women’s attention to this uh it’s also interesting that you don’t have to be pre-diabetic or whatever to have undiagnosed heart disease my husband 58 a fit cyclist constantly kept collapsing it was dismissed as fainting it turned out because I took him to a private specialist that he has Brady cardia which means he has slow heartbeat that eventually just stopped he now has a paac maker don’t ignore these symptoms thanks for all you do you’re great fun thanks and thank you Caroline for getting in touch I mean Matt we we talked about this a few podcasts ago here you are Dynamic fit and healthy a motor a motor home magnate and suddenly you’ve got a bad heart haven’t you I know unstable angina I was diagnosed with yeah complete surprise although a few months of chest ache as we talked about but yeah it was a but you didn’t go to the doctor uh yeah I did you did several times yeah it was quite hard getting an appointment yeah I joke that if I was given a soff shotgun I wouldn’t go to the Post Office I’d go to the doctor’s surgery and get an appointment there’s no way that uh a s off shotgun is anything like a a hard enough weapon when you’re faced with those receptionists let me tell you yeah they’re really friendly our surgery it is difficult to get an appointment I’m waiting for a follow-up appointment now but Caroline’s absolutely right thanks Caroline for your kind words really appreciate it uh it’s an issue for men and women uh and interesting that more women suffer with heart disease than men but I am very passionate about getting men to talk about it because I think that’s one of the challenges that us bles have is we don’t actually Converse about it and we are we’re kind of brought up to just ignore the symptoms and just carry on which is what I was doing uh and I knew something was up and did try and get a doctor to take note and and try and get something sorted and thank goodness I did thank goodness and by the way big shout out to everybody works in the NHS particularly those GP receptionists we love you Sandra Bernett in Paris in Wales hi Matt we’re off to France soon we have an auto Trail tracker eks and are trying to find out what light deflectors we need as I keep reading that they are compulsory in France we have adjustable LED lights that are always on as travel lights but we can point them down in the motor home so do we need the deflectors I’ve ordered some but they’re not the correct ones for our lights can you point me in the direction of ones which we need and where can I buy them many thanks says Sandra PS she says your podcast on reverse polarity was Fab as it helped me get all the leads I needed brilliant thanks Sandra well that’s a great question so it’s interesting that Sandra’s got LED headlight so there’s a number of things in here we’ve got the driving lights which are always on but Sandra’s headlights were an upgrade done by Fiat uh it was an option and in fact lots of moto homes have been arriving without this option recently because of chips running out and so on circuit broad stuff running out um so Sandra’s got the LED headlights and she’s right the sticker that you put on that stops the beam blinding people CU you’re driving on the other side of the road won’t work and the reason is really simple because the beam pattern is different on an LED headlight to a normal H hallogen or tungsten headlight so normally we’re driving on the left in this country and the headlight ticks up on the near side so it lights the pavement so the idea is it lights the head row or the curb so you can see pedestrians correct yes and the edge of the road because you drive on the right hand side that kick up bit is then in the eyes of oncoming drivers so that’s what the sticker designed to do is to flatten that beam off the key difference with the LED ones and you can check this out by driving a motem up against the wall and point the beam at the wall and you’ll see it’s flat so it’s a different shape and therefore you don’t actually need the stickers and this is normal that an LED bulb if I can call it that uh is is a different shape so you don’t actually like the curb in the same way so you’re saying that you don’t need the deflectors if you’ve got LED headlights that is correct yes because what you can do is dip them up and down as you can with all headlights on a motome on a Fiat citon PUO Ford they all do that uh but this is about the shape of the beam now some mot homes have LED headlights and they have a lever on the back or there’s software that enables you to move it particularly on cars BMWs have this where you actually put it into uh left or right lane driving mode momes in my experience the chassis don’t have that feature uh but the LED bulbs normally will not need a sticker because the beam pattern is flat an LED is a light emitting diode by the way yeah it’s completely different from a bulb and as you here now you can treat it completely differently John Barker’s on the aisle of man hi Matt and Keith I’ve recently bought a lovely hobby vanana as our first camper in an owner group on Facebook I read about a van being broken into in France by someone putting a small hole through the side of the door to open the lock is this a common occurrence and a serious security threat having protection plates installed in the doors is mentioned is this an easy and cheap solution or should I not worry thanks for the podcast I found it invaluable in getting ready for our adventures in the v you got your name right Matt Keith not Chris or Desmond Desmond I’ve had so many people say give my best to Keith I am Keith oh yeah thanks John I would say that that experience is highly unusual uh I’ve not come across this very often not on a motor home in a van with stuff in it yes um but fitting those plates is relatively simple and straightforward to do doesn’t look very pretty uh but there are other forms of security that you can fit uh so um locks inside additional locks that you can lock the cab doors with um I would say it’s more about where you park uh and parking somewhere where you’re going to make the motor home vulnerable to this type of thing is more important and be aware of that and you should be able to avoid this happening hopefully if they’re drilling through it sounds to me like they they’re pretty organized criminal gang literally coming tooled up aren’t they so I mean if they if they want to get in they’ll get in you know at the end of the day M home’s full of plastic windows just break one and climb through it I’m not trying to give tips here but you know that would be much easier than drilling the door uh and trying to get in that way but of course you know John’s is a vanana it’s a van so it still has plastic windows but it’s a metal van uh so I would say you know consider the plates they they are a possibility but just not very pretty okay Matt if somebody wants to pose a question what should they do dead easy go to mhmp doino askm mat click the orange button and you can record your question please tell us where you are in the country and you can try lots of times you get it until you’re happy with it and get it right or if you’d rather not do that you can fill out a form and we’ll read the question for you like I said we can make you sound spiffy by editing you afterwards so don’t worry even the swearing goes okay that’s mhmp doino SL askm or you can leave us a review yeah do that too we would love that mhmp doino SLR that’s motom map podcast 1. Dear Matt the thing you missed with the weather is the air pressure ,a barometer reading is by far your best friend . Being a sailor you live or die by it !!

    2. We had our mh broken into in France at a service station by a guy with what must have been a narrow screwdriver. Luckily we woke up when he opened the door and he ran off with nothing. I thought I hadn’t locked it and only noticed the damage when washing it when we got home. No drilling needed to get in and having fitted a plate to that mh and our new mh can see just how easy it is to get into a Ducato etc. I reckon even I could get in one a few seconds

    3. Hi Matt. Interesting discussion on headlights. I have a modern Knaus A Class and it comes with custom made LED lights. However we have found when driving in France I need to lower the beam to position 2 (fiat base) in order to stop the french drivers from flashing us.

    4. Hi guys, I recommended Ripe Insurance as a result of you enthusiasm for the product, you were right, they were a pleasure to deal with but my colleague only received a 10% discount on the policy, they said it was only existing customers that would receive 25% discount using your motorhomemat code? The policy was highly competitive but I thought I would bring it to your attention. I've just sold my T Line 590 and am collecting a new Adria Compact DL in 4 weeks so I thought I would give Ripe Insurance a try. Love the channel, Mat and Julie are great together🤣🤣

    5. Such a horrific incident, what a lucky family to have gotten off so lightly. I do hope the company manages to recover from this. The weather can change in an instant. We were in Skye some years ago, we set off in lovely weather but on our way back a really heavy rainstorm just appeared. We came across a couple of young ladies walking completely inadequately dressed, they were very grateful when we offered them a lift.

    6. We toured Iceland in a rental campervan, and on one day the wind was so bad that we aborted our planned drive and headed for the first campsite we could find, where we found a semi-sheltered spot and pointed the van into the wind. We spent the rest of the day playing scrabble! I did venture outside a couple of times to photograph a rainbow, but only via the sliding door as the wind would probably have caused serious damage to a hinged door!

The weird thing was that when we left the previous campsite it was a completely still day; 10 minutes and 5km later it was too windy to drive!
