In this China vlog, I am reflecting on how far the United Kingdom has fallen while comparing to what I have experienced in China. We could learn a lot from China if we work together and most of all we could learn how to live in PEACE!!

and although the culture is less confrontational there is less tolerance for nonsense in the UK people feel exhausted it’s hopes and dreams absolutely kicked out of it cities are spotless and there’s always people out cleaning the streets the UK is turning into a second rate country while America is sitting happy and claiming that they all right jack yeah yeah oh welcome back to my channel it is me being here and I’m currently in my hometown Glasgow which is in Scotland but I actually live in China in Beijing and I’ve done that for the last seven years so this video is likely to be a bit rambling conversation going on maybe about the difference between China and the UK now that I’ve spent some time in the summer and also now during the Christmas period back in Glasgow I’m talking about GL go here is a typical City in the UK um using that as a base for my comments but I am aware that because Scotland has a separate government that has managed many things better than other parts of the UK then it social and economic markers are actually better than many of the Cities elsewhere in the UK I’m sure you have an opinion on that so if you have a comment on that if you’re from England or Wales and you believe differently then maybe you should find out by this visiting and traveling to Scotland see more or stick to your comments your beautiful words in the comment section below first up to discuss here is people the people in Glasgow Glasgow is very Multicultural and this is one thing that I like and to be fair I’ve always been proud about it reflects glasgow’s welcoming and warm culture and that is similar to what I have experienced in China now I’m not sure that this is the case across the whole of the UK and if it’s even in that sense but it is another similarity that people in Glasgow have with China another thing is that people in Glasgow don’t suffer fools gladly and they don’t really accept a lot of in China people are also very straightforward and will ask a lot of questions and although the culture is less confrontational there is less tolerance for nonsense and they’re very practical and logical thinking in China where things really start to differ between people in China and the UK is in things like Health vitality and appearance people in China take Health very seriously and exercise and good healthy food is a staple in China it’s really a big part of the culture in the UK people are larger a lot of smoking is visible in the streets when I walk about and there is a greatness to the people’s appearance here in in the UK for me China has a youthful vibrant and colorful feel to the society and there is a a can do mentality that is apparent when you meet people in the UK people feel exhausted tired and lost there is a feeling of apathy and I personally put that down to how country is being run by the current government I would say that when you’re in a country based on austerity and strangling the funding for most of the social activities then the outcome is going to be exactly that a population that seems to have had its hopes and dreams absolutely kicked out of it and that’s what I feel in China cities they are very clean and honestly I wish I could say that for the cities here in the UK I have been to 20 cities in China and every experience has been of clean and well-looked after cities sure you get Pockets across cities in China that could do with a good Scrub but in general sense the cities are spotless and there’s always people out cleaning the streets looking after the local Gardens and painting repairing and enhancing the local communities in the UK the cities are dirty the streets are littered with rubbish and they spotted with chewing gum which is one thing I noticed when I came back because that discarding of chewing gum just doesn’t happen in China that and the graffiti thing graffiti is never that visible in China and there is not that much of it to be fair but in the UK it screams out of you and it’s everywhere everywhere you go graffiti graffiti graffiti and it is not a good thing for the psychology of the people in the cities have you ever heard of the Broken Window Theory look that up it’s called The Broken Window Theory look it up on Google and you understand what I mean about graffiti and letter and stuff being strown around the city and what that does to the population one thing I do like is a Street Ark and when it’s done well I think that enhances the mood of of the people and I would like to see more of that compared obviously to the graffiti incidentally I would like to see more street art in China but then it’s a different culture again one thing in the UK I would like to see change is the amount of homeless people on the streets and I know this is a complicated subject but I just don’t see why this issue cannot be resolved by the governments I just don’t get it I see very few of homeless people in China often when I see that people always comment that homeless people in China they’re hidden away and I have to tell you this they must do a damn good job of that because I’ve been as I said 20 cities and I often walk and travel right through the whole city being all over Beijing and I don’t see any major homeless problem in China so there must be good at hiding away the homeless that’s all I can say the biggest thing I’ve noticed is a sheer lack of investment in the city’s streets filled with potholes damaged slabbing unreadable signs even when I’m driving you can be hitting terribly deep horrible potholes and half the road markets disappear because they they’re not being maintained they’re not being repainted I honestly don’t know why the people of the UK are not screaming out at the top of their voice and asking where is all the money going apart from londoners London always seems to get well invested in I do wonder why both the UK and China have very rich diverse cultures and very very different histories I think that history shapes the nature of a country and it gives the very heart the core to the people and the culture the UK and China like most countries are super proud of what they stand for but to me China feels very peaceful Progressive and United while the UK is to me again it feels hatef faltering and splintering bear in mind it’s headed up by a outdated cult of kings and queens I see thriving communities in China people out in Parks socializing dancing eating playing and enjoying life together in the UK I see a culture that is on edge and undercurrent of anger and frustration that is milked by the powers that be and that is aimed at keeping everyone at odds with their neighbor I see communities dying in the UK I was reading the other day that we are seeing a return to the Victorian age in the ukuk the Victorian age I mean this is sad and what is also sad for me is that people seem to be accepting that without a fight I just don’t get it on one other thing don’t get me started on how safe China is compared to the UK because that is one of the single biggest differences in the current cultures at this moment in China there’s a respect for each other whereas here it’s a singular mindset it’s all about about what can I get for myself and possibly at the destruction or harm of others that I just don’t get okay the cost of living I have seen prices for everyday things rise in Beijing I’ve seen stores and businesses closing and it is clear that the economy is sowing interestingly the main reason for this is the aggressive foreign policy from the west and in particular the USA and Biden’s approach to and I quote running the world what I see is everyone else is getting stiffed that’s including Europe Middle East Beyond while America is sitting happy and claiming that they’re all right jack a great example of that is Germany they have been well and truly duped by America you can see that in their economy currently and what they’ve given up because of their blind loyalty to America anyway a degress prises in Beijing have risen but my goodness me here in the UK they have shot through the roof I was out shopping for some groceries the other day and it was an eye watering experience and as for eating out W no wonder people are choosing junk food and staying in I paid £15 for a cooked breakfast the other morning cuz there was nowhere else that was serving a Scottish a full Scottish breakfast £15 for a cooked breakfast what on Earth I could eat an amazing breakfast in China for a fraction of that living a half decent life in the UK is expensive that probably explains much of what I’m experiencing as A Tale of Two Cities or a taale of two countries so let’s talk technology I seen some H bikes in Glasgow the other day and also some ebikes or electric bikes um that was cool I’m also using my phone to pay for things um not using much cash and by the way the cash notes in the UK are now made of that plastic and they’re very slippy and they’re just not that good to handle I’m sure people will lose money because of that any it’s good to see the UK catching up with technology but I have to say the UK are miles behind what I am seeing in China and across Asia I heard someone else say this the other day and when I heard it I understood right away what they meant they said technology and how it will advance people make a difference in everyday life now and in the future will happen in Asia and it be led by China the West is too busy fighting Wars who care much for their people that’s all I would say in the matter because you have to see the advancements and the change in technology to believe it and most people in the west don’t want to see it or theyve told a different story about the advances made in China or can see is open your eyes and your minds the people of the UK have a look around you’re being left behind the UK is turning into a second rate country when you look at the technology okay this brings me to my last point before I wrap this because I’ve been going on a bit too long Jaa Yaba Yaba I’m talking now about the ruling elit and the governance the government basically you probably have heard about China and You’ got a view of China and how it’s run and that view is burnt into your mind because you get that every day through the media I had someone say to me that they love China but hate the government and asked them what they knew about China and how it was governed and they clearly knew nothing about China and the government there they just had this review that they had picked up from the media which is often the case I will tell you what I feel from my experience over the last seven almost eight years in China I see a government that is managing a population of 1.4 billion people and the core tenant of that is how they can help their people prosper and improve the general living standards on the whole there is many facts and figures on the internet if you go back and look it up that will help me back up that statement and you can see it throughout the country from the infrastructure projects housing projects and the spread of the wealth what is known as common Prosperity essentially China is a country with a strong socialist characteristic I would urge you to dig deeper into that and the easiest way is to check out the many YouTube bloggers that are wandering around China highlighting this fact and asking themselves questions about why it’s not like this back in their home countries what is back in my home country the UK the government the Westminster ruling Elite are a group of self-serving leaders that have been shown to be corrupt in their approach and very much focused on hollowing out the country and handing much of what is fantastic about the UK over to the invested interests I will tell you this if you lose the National Health Service in the UK you will regret it you will put the loss of that alongside some of the worst social benefits in Europe a terrible pension and that other big elephant in the room that screwed up the whole of the UK and I’m talking about brexit here what a disaster for the many that was was but then it was good for the few to finish up China and the UK well Scotland are exactly what made me as a person and I’m proud to be part of both of them but China is on the ascendancy while the UK is sinking and it doesn’t have to be that way we could learn so much from China if we choose to work together like adults we could learn that there is another way to live work and govern a country we could learn to live in peace as China has done for the last 40 Years anyway this is me Ian here in Glasgow getting ready to head back to China wishing you all the best for Christmas and the new year and as always saying I always say look after yourself look after your family look after your community take care catch you in the next video this is me peace out catch you soon

    1. You are right…and wrong the same time. Nothing is just white and black…its always shades of grey. I like people from every country…but i dislike any gouvernment.
If you didnt see what the big dam did to many chinese people, that china is still fighting wars, discriminating minorities etc i dunno.
I can see you have an open mind but you seem to be missing details and only see whats obvious and in front of you.
China isnt as bad as the western statesmake it…but its far from being that good as you make it seem too.
If you get rid of money bills and aim for e-money…you sure will regret it as its a part of freedom.
Right now we already have big issues with e-money over here…people cannot access their bank accounts due to some software problem fpr near 1y. groceries charging you double cause of an error. if computers stop working you cant pay or buy anything etc.
Having both is king…having only one…its going to fail at some point. And think about the elderly…most of them cant even handle a mobile phone…e-money is nothing for them.

I liked your video and i am from germany and i can see similar things to what you see and that our western democracy is failing big time cause of the leaders of capitalism and if the people dont stand up….we will end up living in a dark dystopian country for sure.

We dont need a gouvernment anymore…people can reign over themself!

    2. You forgot about people's general mannerisms and how they behave and act (especially in public) also being a huge difference between China and the UK. I've noticed that Chinese people are keen to try and jump queues, push you out of the way when getting on public transport/trains without waiting for people to get off first and the majority keep to themselves and not care about anyone or anything as they don't want to get involved or blamed such as if someone faints on the middle of the road and nobody caring, which is even worse than Londoners in public.

    3. This shit is hilarious the crinese crybabies imperialist wannabees genocidal scum are collapsing thanks to there foolish 1 child policy there population will halve in 30 years thankfully India will leave them well behind and yes uk and divided states are shit oz and nz cant be compared to those depressing places

    4. Great comments mate, it is sad the western media is so biased against China and how so many people believe what they hear. I will plan to visit China soon and experience the country myself.

    5. My family immigrated to Canada when I was very young and I grew up in Canada (50+ years), and i find that western countries knows how much more advanced China is and are trying to push it back with fake media and always portray China in a bad light. People that have never set foot in China will believe what they hear and see from the media. These countries wants to prevent China from reaching 1st world country status and will do everything in it's power to stop it. The world talks about transitioning to EV's, take a look at how many EVs are sold in Chin. vs the rest of the world. You'd be surprised.

    6. I like china's political system also. Because quality of a country depend on their politicians. Multiculturalism is failed . Love china. Their politicians not slave for west. Real president Xi❤

    7. Couldn’t agree more ! The moment I landed in UK 10 years ago I knew I would return home, here I. Am back to Beijing last August to live in safe, clean, high tech China, the longer I stayed in UK the more disappointed I would be simply I have my home country to compare with and for whoever live in UK don’t listen to the media about China, please come and see it with your own eyes, you will be guaranteed with good time in China if you come with an open mind. Enjoy your time in China once you are back 😊

    8. Thank you for the informative commentary. I've noted that China uses its surplus wealth improving the nation. The gov't spends on their great education, amazing infrastructure and lifting 700 citizens out of poverty, while the West spends it on wars.

You mentioned on the division of people in Western countries. I also noticed in the last decades, Fox News, owned by Rupert Murdock, has fostered a great deal of anger among Americans. His Sky News causes the same problems in the UK, Australia and other areas.

    9. Studying in Cardiff,Wales now, it is a quite safe and silence place, the strangers always smiling to me ,I like this point, and also, the street really need to keep clean!, especially after raining, my shoes always dirty, and the food and restaurants is so expensive, In China most of people just need spend less than 1/4 on food, most people decide have lunch at restaurant. Younger especially the guy just graduated form UNIVERSITY have to cook by themselves and cost huge money on rent a room.

    10. Thnaks Ian for the insight. Yes, people all around the world should learn from each other. The biggest obstacles are the politicians and their mouthpiece – the media. They have been telling lies or not telling the whole truth about many many things. Now they don't want their own people to know that there is an alternative system for better country management.

    11. ❤ THANKS for your informative & educational video !!! 😊
Your comments are constructive (in truthfulness)

    12. in 1840, the year just before opium war between China and Britain. Brit elites knew China pretty much, landscape coastline cities army production commerce…….
meanwhile Chinese elites thought they were the best of the world, the central kingdom within bunch barbarians. they knew nothing about Britain, most of them didnot even know Europe exists.
now is 2024, every Chinese teen can name 5 UK cities, considering that UK is only the size of one province in China.
How many can UK teens name? Beijing, Shanghai, and……?

    13. That's not the case anywhere in or around London. People either give others dirty looks or are terrified you might start talking to them. The women don't act like women, they are feminists.

    14. As long as there is election, the government will only care about votes, nothing practical will be done. The only thing done is seeking for attention and begging for likes and subscribes only. It’s a dead end. I know democracy might had its glorious past but it’s time to make amendments to the corrupted system.

    15. I agreed with all your points!! You are very right and your opinion is very fair. The government and people is not looking after the city. It’s very dirty in the city and people pee every where and so smelly.

    16. Couldn't agree more, having been in China for almost 20 years. Returning to the UK is like traveling back in time, especially now. And I totally agree about the mess everywhere in the streets.

    17. @lilsslj

Totally agree. I’ve immigrated to UK 20 years ago, feel exactly the same. It is a sinking ship here.

This is captain Xi Jinpingpong of submarine "Glorious China" speaking: lilssli, MichaelZhuang, and all the other overseas Chinese finding themselves on sinking USS Gunslinger and HMS Fish & Chips to abadon ship and join submarine "Glorious China" which is unsinkable because it is sitting right on top of the ocean floor.

    18. Indonesian🇮🇩 guy here
I've been to UK 3 times but mostly in London, Liverpool and Glasgow, i think the Scottish people are very nice and friendly people.
London is a beautiful city but the people there are very rude, some places in London is very dangerous and so many crimes especialy in the southern part of London

    19. Thanks mate. Excellent video and so truthful. I’m back after 8 years in Dubai. Really regretting this return to broken Brexit Britain.

    20. A fellow Brit here, from London. The way our country is going, I'm trending towards moving to the East in the next few years too. We rave about freedom of speech&democracy and now we lost them "too" lmao, might as well move over there to a place where at least I'll be respected and can live a comfortable life.

    21. Sorry mate, but big corporate has control and they are not willing to lose their future profits from a bigger govt, smaller private sector… Western countries have lost, it'll never change…

    22. On governments, my personal opinion is that its ideology does not matter. What matters is good governance. In certain developed nations, the stark class divide is increasingly apparent, with limited opportunities for social mobility. Whatever talents the nation produces are quickly identified, shaped, and permanently lodged into the capitalist machines owned by the very few. The rest remain in a perpetual state of want, although not enough to incite significant change in the existing order.

    23. I’m living in Edinburgh rn and I’ve been to Beijing and Glasgow. I agree with your opinions. Glasgow is a very noisy and fun city indeed, especially at night. I recall once when I walk from Glasgow central to queens street station, there were lots of young people vaping and waiting in lines for night clubs. The strong police presence in high street did make it feel pretty safe though.

    24. China has its pros & cons like anywhere, one pro for sure is the cost of food, and in this case breakfast, I used to have bao zi for less than ¥10, meat, potato or veg, delicious & affordable to all!!
