Hey guys, I’m in between these two.
I’m looking at a ALR5 going for £500ish with a fully hydraulic 105 groupset. Unfortunately it has been in a small crash but affected parts such as shift lever wheel and handlebar have been replaced by genuine trek parts. The bike has been used for 4 years to commute and it general well kept condition. Also has discs but I’m not a super big fan but I will commute in the rain.
On the other hand there’s a Domane AL4 with a Tiagra groupset and it’s pretty much brand new condition. Going for 300 but I reckon I can negotiate more. Im leaning towards this one.
I’m not afraid of working on bikes even more complicated ones. I prefer the look of the AL4 as well. It’s just so classic!
What are your thoughts? Is the ALR5 with the iso post and 200 series aluminium that much better? It has been in an accident but it rides true.
