Day 02 – Warminster to Portsmouth …
So, despite the beginnings of tired legs, we tackled the second part of our journey as the 54 strong St Peter’s Hospice team heading to Paris; but there was the little problem of an approximate 74 mile journey to Portsmouth which stood in our way to catch the Ferry over the Channel.
People featured in this video include: Ben, myself, Nick, Martin, Chris (GAC), Tom (GAC), Paul, Colin, Gerry and Andy; and the enigmatic Freddie.
More videos to come in the next week or so… 🙂

how did you find day one day one generally yeah day one was nice it was obviously a lovely day and everyone’s in good spirits I think it was fantastic to leave brentry and have everyone kind of like dur us on that gave us a bit of a boost I think for the first s that was 10 20 miles and then I think we found I particularly found there’s a hill I’m not too sure what the name of the hill was but it was about 13 km from the uh from the end and it was tough the Highlight was uh waking up and stretching in my box shorts with Ms feeling like this is slightly surreal but we need it cuz we need stretch yeah that was your highlight no that’s not my that’s the Highlight was just the the camaraderie between the whole group I think everyone’s in great spirits and everyone’s support each other so is it bring on day two that’s it day two here we come yeah double miles thanks yay [Music] oh [Music] so after we went to dinner and everybody went home um Jordan and myself were fixing the bikes that needed fixing while Tom and Dan were out route marking the rest of today’s route yeah which obviously as Tom said about 2: a.m. myself and Dan will finish probably around 11: but they would have to go back out and just Demar some of the end of yesterday so that you don’t catch those again end up doing so cool and is it um good team nice team excellent team really good really experienced team is really nice and it makes life a lot easier for Tom this the first time we done brisol Paris um it’s a tough old event because you you’re living out of a bag for nights um a lot of the guys that we’ve got doing these challenging challenges um struggle when they’re not in control so if I’m giving out the information for example I’m sure you know what you’re doing for the next week but these next four days you’re kind of up in the air so if I’m feeding you information bit by bit it’s a lot better than giving you 4 days information when you’re tired on your bike yeah yeah cool yeah so it’s great and you’ve got day one um 42 miles Day 2 72 miles day three 70 odd miles day four 70 odd miles is that a challenge yeah pretty much uh what I enjoy most about it is being able to help people realize a dream for most of them like when they sit off they’re really nervous they’re not sure if they’re going to make it when they make it over the Finish Line it’s cycling trck sled in any of them is amazing just seeing the smiles on their faces and the achievement what they’ve managed to do in the money that they’ve raised is absolutely fantastic uh my name is Nick um I’m doing this challenge so we lost a friend of ours last year I’ll do a lot of riding and thought it be a good challenge to go for and raise bit money Martin and doing this because of my n who died back in22 and complet after them look after her with her end of life have you have have you both found the challenge so far enjoyable enjoyable yeah very enjoyable couple of hairy moments but it’s been F it’s been fun I think it’s a good bit of camaraderie between everyone yeah so and everyone sping each other on so yeah very much enjoy it has been on our side yeah touchwood fingers cross the rain today have you all found the cycle so far have you have you ever done ccle like this before this one no not day on day on day yeah uh day one was warm but uh yeah since then today’s the another yeah what was the worst bit about yesterday for you guys say the last 10 mil last 10 mil busy you could really well you could have a laugh and chat and play music makes easier it’s quite good it’s quite music like it yeah start this morning 20 mil mostly mostly downhill so it’s another 50 miles to go I think French Reds tomorrow oh yeah keeping to up should be interested thison weird question have you all been to Paris before or have you never been to Paris only when I was we we little boy yeah cool well good luck on the ride and I’ll probably catch up you guys later anyway [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] I [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] I hi mits hi mate um can you tell you tell us where you are and what you’ve done today and how you feel where am I I am on a ferry to France the end of day two we this is BR of Paris 2024 for St Peter’s hospice um I’m in a room with two other people cozy but good company you think it’ just be me and Ben but tonight we have Freddy hello what did you choose to do this particular challenge I chose to do this challenge CU I thought that Charities have particularly suffered throughout the pandemic um and you know they need our help more there and I wanted to do for local charity and St Peter’s hospice was something that inspired me by doing the T to Bristol last year and I thought i’ do a new challenge to raise money this year good on you good that’s great meet nice people people Freddy for president basically yeah pretty much yeah yeah mitz can I throw it back to you yeah it and ask you if there’s any lesson learned today what were those lessons the lessons I’ve learned today was don’t fall off your bik uh one thing I’ve learned about is everyone’s really nice as actually like you know being in this cabin with three hot P sorry 3 pen it’s quite nice every everyone’s really nice everyone is really nice I am actually super surprised we got a lovely bunch of people on this trip there’s not been a conversation day three first day in France buzzing for it yeah obviously T tired legs tired mind what’s the most what’s the most exciting thing in France what’s the first thing you’re going to eat in France oh pastries it’s got to be past it’s got to be pastry isn’t it we’re in French pastries mate French pastries but yeah day day three maybe some pser if we can get our hands on something oh yeah depending on the schedule we could stop up a little cafe couldn’t we um be ni Cafe crawl you what I mean a craw definitely on Sunday yeah but anyway all right boys thanks very much and uh bring on day three go to day three for security reasons we ask you not to leave your luggage unattended thank you for your cooperation Ben is now trying to secure no sound coming out of the speaker next to his head but you know this will just bite Us in the butt tomorrow yeah but we still pass once once it goes quiet I’ll I’ll um reveal it you know the you know the phrase Cabin Fever they weren’t kidding with that they they weren’t actually kidding with that idea they’re thinking like three put three people three men on a boat in a room and they’ll probably end up killing each other or going to sleep it it could be worse to be true Freddy with a Genius lyrics here you know what I mean like unbelievable
