Round 2 of the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup in Barcelona, Spain, is a wrap! French champion Lorenzo Serres and UCI World Champion Gaia Tormena from Italy were the big winners of the day, conquering both the day’s victory and the UCI World Cup leaders jerseys.
Barcelona never disappoints. The established round of the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup always delivers thrilling races and deserving winners, and so it did again in 2024. The renewed track offered riders more chances to overtake, which resulted in some tough, physical racing on the stairs in front of the mighty Palau Nacional on Montjuïc hill.
The day couldn’t have started better for the Catalan home crowds: local star Marta Cano stormed to the win in the qualifying time trials, with the smallest possible margin: Gaia Tormena was only one hundredth of a second (!) slower than home favourite Cano. In the men’s qualifiers, Serres immediately proved he was enjoying a great shape, setting the fastest time.
The first heats proved to be disastrous for the UCI World Cup leaders, Ede-Karoly Molnar and Marion Fromberger, last week’s winners of the opening round in Paris. UEC European champion Molnar was eliminated after a crash in the 1/8 finals, Fromberger got caught up in the 1/4 finals. Both would end up losing their precious UCI World Cup shirts to the race winners.
In the finals, both Serres and Tormena dominated their heat from start to finish. Tormena celebrated solo, preceding Annemoon van Dienst (NED), Marta Cano (ESP) and Didi de Vries (NED), who crashed. In the men’s finals, Serres led all race long, eventually outsprinting Nils-Obed Riecker (GER), Titouan Perrin-Ganier (FRA) and Quentin Schrotzenberger (FRA).
In the women’s category, the early elimination of Fromberger did change the race dynamics: “This is eliminator: you don’t always have to expect the same final. One mistake can cost a lot. And that’s what happened today, but I’m sure Marion will be back next time”, Tormena said. In the new UCI World Cup standings, the Italian star now totals 200 points. Van Dienst is second with 145 points, Fromberger third with 142.
Following the men’s final, Serres couldn’t contain his excitement: “I’m really happy with this, after my sixth place in Paris. I’ve always ended second in Barcelona in the previous years, so it gives a lot of joy to win here this time, so early in the season. It was the kind of race where you always had to push hard on the pedals, from the start until the end.” In the overall, Serres enjoys a 45 points margin on runner-up Edvin Lindh. Defending winner Titouan Perrin-Ganier is third, with a 55 points deficit.

hello and welcome to round two of the UCI mountain bike Eliminator World Cup 2024 with Emma Martin and me Matt Payne it’s only six days since round one in Paris where we saw German champion from Burger take the win in the women’s race and European Champion molard take the top spot in the men’s who will get the job done today in Barcelona Matt we’ve mixed the course up a bit this year take us through well as you can see as we come off the top of the track we go down onto The Descent down those steps now these been really tricky number of riders having major issues on the The Landing there into our two tabletops got to keep the speed down coming in go too high here you got a bad landing to Flat that’s going to be really really difficult around this left turn and now we go right we used to just Loop Round the central fountains we now go to our right hand side and into a sand section this is really tricky there are sand and gravel with some curb edges there over the log rolls a quick lift going over this will keep you going keep your speed and momentum going but this is a fast run in now LD caliper one of our for competitors down there on the GES that this is allowing this to be a very quick entry and we’ve seen some very tricky ascents Landing onto the UPS slope causing problems may not be as large a population in Sweden as there maybe would have been because of that really tough track very very fast very brutal and a very different change well 51 Riders on the start sheet St across the men’s and the women’s and you can see the results of the individual time trial for the women early on Espen NOA setting the fastest time 53.85 seconds .01 quicker than world champion gu TOA from Italy guier there in third place and fromberger the winner of the last round in fifth now the quarterfinals lined up you can see on the screen in front of you Espinosa is going to go with lorett mdom and smos in Heat number one Heat number three we’ll see our world champion but that will come up in a short one so lined up and ready to go for heat one it’s mden from Denmark lorett from Spain espanosa from Spain and S Mo from Brazil so four Riders two Riders to go through from our quarterfinals into our semifinals who will it be of our four Rudders down on this start line esposa with that fastest timing qualifying but remember she was one of the early ridders to go off and that means that she didn’t know what time it was going to be set set here today but at the moment it is espinos who’s going to lead in the Catalonia rider in the blue and yellow comes diving down into this double step descent comes around nice and tight keeps the line held there as they come sweeping around onto the tabletops nobody going too crazy at the moment this is a TW laap race the time trial a One laap race so those times coming in at 53 nearly 54 seconds we’ll translate into a just short 2 minute or around that 2 minute marker for the racing and at the moment the two race leaders starting to stretch clear come in to that sand and gravel section they’ve got to come on and off the curb edges there quite sharp and could cause a problem but at the moment the gaps are definitely opening up here at the moment as they come through you can just see going to take this right hand turn up onto the steps now the steps are boarded in terms of the actual Riser and Treads but that is going to make life a little difficult if the Riders come in too hard because they’re going to find themselves having to go a slight angle they are offset slightly left to right so as the Riders come in and through at the moment Espen NOA leading from lorett mdom and Al at the moment the riders in trouble here and at the moment Lyn mdom of Denmark is the rider in third place with a gap and with a lot of ground to make up here only two Riders through now mum when we finished our trip to uh Paris she was the rider who was in seventh place overall in the Series standings remember you get points for the time trial and for the actual xce race so that puts her into of the moment big big moves could be going out here at the moment though Espinosa absolutely flying around here kicks out the subtle now on to the S we’ve seen Riders lose lots of time here and now mdom starting to come up on the back of the rers going to come into this left turn let’s see who’s it going to be mom he’s going to come up and towards a touch he’s gone past on the steps it is going to be Espinosa mdom then lorett then Alida could be through S ala at the rider in fourth place well phenomenal overtaking move from mdom there in the final stages of that race to come through in the second qualified position Heat number two it’s JY in one from Burger our winner from Paris in two Dev from the Netherlands in three and Lite from Brazil in four so our next four Riders down on the line to who this includes our series leader at the moment so what can frb doing the white with the red flash she’s on her jersey she’s up against to re the champion of the Netherlands at the moment diving down she’s going to take first place and it looks to me like Le’s moved into that second position so at the moment he’s deze then Ley then fromberger then JY at the moment so that’s your one 2 3 4 We’re got to just see if that’s going to be the case as they come through de’s leading this out Ley in second second place at the moment and this is about this push on him fromberg in fourth place now in the white down that she really has some ground to make up that is not like fromberger at all but she will have seen a number of riders having issues on the landing of those big double steps plenty of time to make ground up here in Barcelona in the new course that has the trip around down the side here it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how they go on D’s leading here late looking very very strong in second place at the moment the RO who is fifth in the world championships currently sits in second place pushes up onto Diddy D’s wheel here and D having a much better round so far looking very strong fromberger at the moment not to camera shot almost as the Riders land at the base of those steps and there is more and more work being done it could well be that fromberg is going to see her lead at the top of the standings evaporate she leads the overall standings by 30 points from gor mayor and the win in the race here if you to go through to the finals and take the win is worth at 90 points and she’s already missed out on the top points in the tie trial as well so that is going to really throw things into confusion in the overall standings if it continues to form and at the moment the rider who’s going to benefit the most is Diddy de really is pushing on here going to push up on to the top of the climb here Le’s right on on the wheel here they’re going to take this left hand turn there is a close down from behind as fromberger pushes to the line but she’s not going to make it another shot result here is thee ladyy fber and JY in the order over the line well our winner in Paris not going through the quarterfinals today that is the big story here in Barcelona Lite and de going through from Heat 2 heat three is shenberger Van TOA and cel so four Riders two three the world champion multitime world champion guy to coming here hot on the hills of a road race in Rome now making her way onto something much shorter much quicker much more intense will she have the power to hold off the ride in the black that is the r am Moon van who’s on some storming form as they come around and they clip into the barriers what a bad move that that L like that was S I think who went in on sh just going to take a little bit of a check back here as they come around this left hand turn that is not what you want to happen I Russ just clipp that as it came around we’ll have to take a look back at that the inside line super tight the comment says the race referees will be keeping an eye on that as they come in around the right hand turn at the moment on to this gravel trap being taken by to in the lead at the moment it is going to be amoon van in second place the Gap at the moment last time yet we had was 10 seconds but that is not 10 seconds anymore because you can see the has been closed down from the Riders behind they are going to try and get the gap down and this is one of the chances when you come into this compression up on to the steps at the moment as they go over it looks to me like we’re going to have to Mana leading them through a familiar position for the world champion is going to be van in two but then schenberg and civil in that order as they come through civil who got caught up on that left hand turn now over the first of the doubles Riders keeping it Al if you’re wondering why they’re not getting lows of air time going super high the more you go up the less you’re going forwards that means that you’re going to go slower so you want to keep it down ideally you can keep the wheels down you can actually accelerate off that ramp or you want to land just on that down ramp but this is very tricky indeed so as they come around this left hand turn of the moment there is to starting to extend the lead she doesn’t want to be challenged she doesn’t want to have to fight in amongst that scrap for that second third place battle TOA over the log r no problems at all van d goes through and the Gap has open back up again to the Riders behind so it looks to me like we’re going to see tomain and vanis going through here shenberger and civil are going to be the two Riders fighting it out for third and fourth place but the Gap is between them and the two leaders as they come up to the line well it is indeed in TOA going through vanst into schenberg and Cal are the Riders going out in the Heat and not progressing to the semi-finals still trying to get over the Shocker from Burger going out there but we go into heat number four it’s borley from France clure from France the third French Rider in this heat guier and then giorio from Cyprus so the Cy up against the three French women the former world champion closure the rider in the red and black sandwiched in between a country women at the moment though clure drops that sit down ready to go straight down this descent it is a very tricky descent here we’ve seen problems at the moment in the Serv of this race no having a major issue on the landing coming off there but we have seen mechanical issues we’ll come on to those a little bit later on in the show but at the moment CL looking smooth out the settle kicks down hard again that drop a seat ping coming straight back up again get that Optimum pedaling position tight round that right hand turn outside pedal down little pop of the wheel to go up on to this gravel and Tac s Tac to the right gravel to the left but then you got to come off onto this Sandy gravel section clure holding that wheel pretty smoothly at the moment behind you can just see that it’s not very far between the second and third place B and borley at the moment the Riders who are going to be fighting it out but you can just see big squeeze on the outside there good move by B simpier you didn’t want to lose momentum going up that climb so she squeezed onto the side of glour but gour under pressure simultaneously keeping herself ahead of borley as they come down into this descent so it’s a look so oh look at that big look over the shoulder there J is playing this smart she wanted to know she was in need of pushing on whether she needed to keep kicking or whether she could relax a little bit and I think the answer to was that was don’t push too hard but don’t lik too much either because it’s not a definitive Gap at the moment and I tell you one R who really is impressing this season she’s a stepped up big sty that is Madison varier had a great round over in France in Paris she came through in sixth in the end in Paris at the end with points totaled up between the time trial qualifications and the finals and it means that she’s got to make her way through she wants to keep hold of that position now here comes a pushup on the inside borley tries to move make a move on the inside as it com through B’s going to try and go around the inside the outside if she doesn’t make it not going to be her day today well CU and basier going through their compatriot borley the first Rider not qualifying from that final giio the cyprio Rider not coming through either so we can see the results of the quarterfinals espanosa and mdam too vanis de Lite clure and basier the eight Riders going through to the women’s semi-final for round two here in Barcelona today well the big shock from Burger being out but TOA now must be hot favorite today we’re going to see later when we see the women’s semi-finals now before then we go to the men and we’ve going to have some time trial results SZ was the fastest riders today in the individual time trial 49.7 five seconds R it in two gaghe in three the world champion down in eth but the shock of the eighth final is that molard the winner of round one not qualifying for the quarterfinals today issues with the rear wheel of his bike in the qualifications but first heat today the lined up and ready to go we have terasoft in one giley in two SZ in three and matrat in four so the first of our men’s quarterfinals here in Barcelona round two the UCI MTB eliminates a World Cup underway Series in the French national champs Jersey going to try and head it down but it is g Who challenges and gets pushed wide the too wide going down these steps now Emma talked about the issues that they had on the back wheel for mon the same is true of Maya both Riders ripping the rear tire off on The Descent on that Landing it is putting so much force on the bik is causing Riders major issues and we’ve got mechanical issues for the riders in third and fourth place here as well so at the moment sis is leading this out and it looks to me like M having a better ride here terasoft and gery both with issues on the way in around that descent that Landing really causing problems now smart look over the shoulder there by S wants to know does he make a move does he push up does he take this easy the answer to that is don’t go too hard now save some energy but remember he could have an issue could have mechanical on the way down it could be that the others are then able to catch up you’ve got to be over the line to take a position here and you’ve got to keep that bite together and at the moment as it go over the top sarus leads at the line after one lap by 2.5 seconds from martra however teras off 11 seconds down gener 16 seconds down at the line that means that these two should be able to cruise through look at saris there just takes a little bit of adjustment on the shoe he can cruise around here doesn’t want to relax too much make a silly mistake easy to do when you relax but this is giving him a lot of rest he doesn’t need to go to the Limit as much he doesn’t need to push as hard keeps an eye over his shoulder you don’t want to do that the wrong time and run off the race route easily done he’s got to take a look over the shoulder now one of the things these rers has to be aware of when they’re going that a little bit slower approaching these technical obstacles the gear that they’re in is going to be different and they need to bear that in mind when they hit it when they roll around slower so there is a risk going slower Sarah though celebrates the fact that he could Cruise round with a back wheel over the line takes the win marra in second but big big result more Riders out well husbandry and getting your bike over the line absolutely crucial to qualifying not just setting the fastest time and being light on those wheels and light on your Landings today absolutely essential so series a m track going through in Heat number one Heat number two it’s Newman from Brazil shenberger from France Hower from Austria and Toran the second French Rider here today so let’s see who is going to be able to take this out will it be Theo House of national champion of Austria third from your left freshman up against him who’s going to be able to put the power down Diego Newman coming through from the time trout and coming through from the eighth finals for Brazil doing a great job to get himself into position he’s challenging at the moment in that position three just trying to make sure it keeps that bike together on that downhill up over the first of the doubles into the second of the doubles and every time you land and take off there’s a chance for that chain to come off there’s a chance for your foot to come on clip there is a chance to do some damage to the wheel Maybe but that tag get the air come out of it and that is why we’ve seeing so many issues front two again starting to pull clear as they come over the top but this time our ride in third place is chasing hard you can see at the moment the pressure is being put on though it is Hower who is winding up on the front here he’s got a little bit of a gap appearing between the front two and position three as they come into the line so Hower tning La sh ber and Newman in that order not much difference in the kit for ton and shenberger that’s the order that came in and a problem there that is a problem an arm in the air from tning La I think he’s got an issue I think his chain has come off he bends down he’s got to put that back on again and he has now gone from second into third place shenberger takes a look over his shoulder how looks over his shoulder and I think they are now going to cruise the way in look at Hower just going to free will this not burn too much energy so lots of mechanical issues for our Riders now round one in Paris we saw lots and lots of riders changing position here in Barcelona we’ve seen a lot of mechanical issues and as Emma said earlier uh that husbandry that keeping your bike together being able to get it over the line absolutely critical our Riders are pushing the bikes to the absolute limit and at the moment as they come up to the top here Hower is going to come across the line in first place it’s going to be Quenton schenberg who moves through from our quarterfinals to the semis if he’s not taken out on the line there and it looks like Newman will get third place well schoten burer will be happy with that finishing 17th in Paris will be pleased to progress today so Hower and shoten burger qualifying from that heat and we can see there the mechanical issue just causing problems for Tor on the Chain coming off there and needing to stop as we progress now through to the lineup for the next H so Rea from Germany Galindo from Spain clausman from Germany and the world champion perin G from France so world champion up against very far starting Felix kusman the man alongside him thir from the left hand side will they be able to hold off o good to see back in the mix here’s a rund down Galindo the rider who is maybe just not quite as fast as maybe would have thought he would be just on that start because it is a quick start here today and he’s got a fast start on him but as they go up over here he is for Riders still in contention classman takes a look over his shoulder that’s going to be known as the Barcelona look the one to look back after the first technical obstacle and see how many riders are left still with an intact bite because that is what’s happening here today at the moment we’ve got four Riders In Touch move by per G on the left hand side there goes up on the inside of coming in he wants that tight line he doesn’t want to be the rider at risk when you are man to in the fourman race you know that you are the rider who’s going to be under pressure and he’s going to be under pressure from o as they come up to the top head left hand turn comes big kick coming in here they all want to be in that descent in first place this is going to wind the pace up now R starts to run wide can he hold it together he’s the rider in third place he’s got the most to do here because it looks to me like galinda is going to be eliminated R go on the inside is he going to come through he’s gone from three to one can he make it stick per G does not want to give that light away but he’s going to have to see the first place at the moment R put it in the moves there what a move by him he’s put him in first place now has he damaged the B has he managed to keep himself together has he got anything left for the rest here you can see the pushes on and now cloudman is in that unenviable position of having been in a qualifying position being in third place expect classman to throw everything including the kitchen at this he’s up onto the slops now can he take out the world champion on the run in He’s Surely going to be eliminated out here he is look at that he is going to be a win for R second place for baring G and clausman out of it yeah well redeeming his 14th spot in Paris that was a phenomenal ride from ra to take the win there ping Dan coming into klusman and Galo not qualif in so our final heat now it’s lman it’s coven gag genheimer and Lind this is the final heat of the men’s quarterfinal so good to see a r hackim lman back in with us again we’ve got Carl Hoven we’ve got Lind now Lind had an incredible Escape in the qualifiers he was going to want to put that to bed and want to take this out he’s at the front he goes around that tight left hand turn starts dropping down here Edwin Lind had a problem jump on the social media channels because it will be out there I promise you that crash how he doesn’t uh manage how he’s managing to ride the bike at all I have absolutely no idea I’m not so sure I want to be sitting down after what he did on the bike but he is at the moment absolutely nailing this at the moment it is going to be l in one just taking this looking behind gheer is looking pretty cool at the moment you can see though that the fredman that is hav is the rider right on his heels he’s going to be looking to take this out hackim at the moment sitting in fourth position two Riders through two Riders eliminated two laps in total one lap to go at the line this time and the pressure comes on you can see G genheimer having to work to try and hold that second place is elbow to Elbow Carl over says that’s mine I’m coming through excuse me elbow went in in front and that means that he has managed to take that place and he pushed gheer back who is now overlapping the wheels here of car H this is going to be incredibly tight so Lind at the moment leading this out oh car HOV using every millimeter of the track just skirting the edge of the central grass section that Stone Edge he must have been so close to his pedals as he came through and we are still side by side L and gagen Heimer are battling out gagen Heimer is trying to find a way through at the moment but he is stuck in a maze of problems behind he can’t go on the left he can’t go on the right he’s trying everything he can at the moment and the former world champion who’s are going to see the world championships return to Arland he’s going to have to pull something out here if he wants to go through and progress he’s got to make a move on Lind as it come round has he got enough in the tank he’s not going to do it Carl Hoven takes the win Lind in second gagen Heimer in third and lman well not his lucky day today but great to see him back in Action well it is all change at the top today in Barcelona it’s a city that keeps on giving in this Eliminator racing so SES matrat rea pering G Hower schenberg Cal Hoven and Lind are the eight men progressing to the semifinals well it’s going to be fast and furious now you can see the highlights of the programs and the qualifiers coming through in some phenomenal nominal racing now for me Matt one of the key racing of today is Espinosa the young Spanish fighter she’s the junior EXO Spanish champion and she finished 12th in the junior XO in Glasgow at the world Champs last year so she’s a strong strong Rider but a young Rider and up against some phenomenal women in the semifinal short and you can see her attack her push as she came through with the number 48 plate on as she came in to this because she was a rider who basically was really pushing it hard she had the number one then on but she’s a rider who really we saw was kicking in and moving off from the start and she asserted herself she’s taking no prisoners and it means she well truly deserves to be in here she’s got thee she’s got mdom and l l very good at making a move in there but we will see whether in this first semi-final she’s going to go through but I think Emma good good call that I think she could be the one to upset the apple cart here in Spain well 17 years old is the youngest age allowed for The Eliminator Mountain Bike World Cup and mam D espanosa and Lite the four Riders lined up for the first semi-final so let’s see it’s the youngster from Spain with that number one play Third from your left in the blue and yellow can take out de who looked incredibly good in her quarter finals let try sua will it sua from the start here today away we go this is the kick this is two through from the semi-finals into the main final oh and it looks like Espinosa just slipped that pedal off there just kick down and that has going to push her down it’s put her into fourth place at the moment and that kick that start that Explosive Start that didn’t work out mean she’s now got a problem and I think that chain has come off as well this is a major problem way down it looked to me like she drove out from the start but then she couldn’t hold it together going down those steps are big they’re rough you find that you hit them wrong if you’re not clipped in probably can bounce off but it’s another incident here that is costing one of the big favorites coming in here and that means that Mar Espinosa of Spain at the moment is now probably going to be in fourth position when we see her again leading this out though did the re now she needs to play this smart she doesn’t need to take any risks here she’s seen so many riders have problems mechanically Le is in the lead this is going to be one of our best results for a while and at the moment the ree just needs to be a calm here you can just see Espinosa in it there’s been so many problems behind I think we’ve had problems for not just Espinosa on that S I think a lot of the Riders as they come down there pretty much all of them have had issues on the way around because espinos has made her way back up into second she was the fastest in the time trial quick reminder she went round that and in fact in terms of being faster than did of ree she was 1.04 seconds through and you can see another back tire gone down here that’s leate who’s walking the bik round here that is another incident where the back tire is not held up the Riders are pushing the mechanical abilities of their bikes to the Limit that means that when you run super fine super fast super lightweight kit if you hammer it too hard it crosses that fine line between success and failure and suddenly you are in trouble so D leading this out she’s going to surely have that place but will it be Espinosa who goes through with a lucky Escape here behind theze who’s going to come in oh the bush is on the inside this is going to come down for a spitter line I think ESP know is going to take it from mdom there mdom thinks what could have been barings a helmet in disgust just there well de pushing through and making sure she qualifies for the main final today she finished 10th in Paris she’s going to go better today and take a look at that espanosa recovered from missing that pedal off the start line she recovered strongly and has come through to qualify but well it was indeed Lara Lite who had problems here as we head towards the lineup from the second semifinal for the women today so vanin from the Netherlands basier from France TOA from Italy and clure rounding out the four riders in front of us from France as well so the semi-finals the second of our semi-finals how many riders will make it through never mind who’s going to make it through who’s going to make it into the end without any issues van on the left was here in the burp on white Toma just wants leaning slightly over before that start the world champion just making sure she is secure as alongside the riding the red and black the former world champion that is clure who is going to take it time to find out let’s get racing so a long hold for the Riders there as it go off here in the semi-finals closure with a great Sprint of the inside is she going to hold that line Toma pushes it right to the outside carries lots of pace to him throws that bike down those stairs takes the lead looking behind to see if there are any issues with the Riders bikes at the moment nothing showing up at the moment and we saw Espinosa come back it wasn’t just that she shipped a pedal she also shipped a chain on this she had two mechan SKS and came back and that should give hope to anybody who has an issue out on the track at the moment in this race though it’s Toma the world champion leading out at the moment how much effect that road race in Rome has affected her L it’s looking like she’s not going to be suffering too much it maybe that it takes its toll later on clour sitting in close attendance van sitting in third place and at the moment it is going to be basier who’s in that fourth position but they are pushing up basier really trying to squeeze up the inside line there as they come in and through though it is the world champion and the r on for van at the moment leading them out down onto the steps once again there are overtaking opportunities on this track but you’ve got to be bold the right as they finals from places fifth through to eth we see their Dev and espinos of the two Riders joining van Santa in that final as we head over to the men’s semifinal and Heat number one SZ Hower schenberg and Marat the Riders lined up and ready to go you can see them there this is heat one of the men’s semifinal so the catalonian r matat on the left House of the national champion from Austria second from left you can see that we have got SAR the French national champion in here and we’ve got shenberger the man on the right hand side with the light blue and black kick who’s going to get into that corner first and lead them down s has a f start he’s kicking off hard here and it looks like he’s going to come across but look at the Spaniard go on the outside here KCK down hard oh and how has come before he’s been right the way up into the finals regularly before in our previous series of the mountain bike eliminated World Cup he knows that he’s got to hold this together but he’s under pressure as well saris is the man with the lead he should be the man who can take this cleanly through he has the least pressure really CU there’s nobody breathing down his neck at the moment he can afford to lose one place he can’t afford to lose two so he can’t back off too much and at the moment just taking a look at mattra I think he may have an issue with the bike he’s looking down there is it the bike is it legs we’ll find out as he kicks around this turn he’s just out of camera shot at the moment sis and shenberger look like they the Riders are going to benefit the most here from Theo Hower slide out there’s a c over at the end of lap number one Hower giving away 12 seconds to our race leaders so not giving up getting back on the bike no doubt making the most of his trip here trying to salvage as many points as he can down those Series standings but he’s not going to make it through from our semifinals it is going to be the two Frenchmen going through sis and shenberger SES and shenberger the two French Riders qualifying through to the major finals it’s Marat and Hower going through to the small finals and well I think we’re really seeing today that riding a course and racing a course are two very different things the speed and pace of racing really causing issues in what could be seen as innocuous areas on the course well lining up for the second semi-final it’s Lind from Sweden Cal Hoven from France reer from Germany and perin G from France in those rainbow bands now who will be joining s and Shon biger in the final time to find out oh a real m about on that start line there you could see hopping it backwards and forwards car Hoven there struggling to get settled and that could cost him dear four very fast starters on the way in at the moment it’s going to be Lind who goes in big wide line being taking out around the outside there and that was by R trying to look for a way in and through but it is Lind who’s leading out at the moment the man from Sweden right at the front of the race but car Hoven goes over the top of him I’ll have that lead thank you very much I don’t want to be in danger from the world champion from pering G the rider who could well take him in the Sprint now watch out for G take this left hand turn this is one of his favorite places to make a move he pushes on he’s coming on the inside of Lyn ly’s wise to it and he goes up on the inside and Perry G they not only going around the corner but said I am in front you can get lost sunshine this is my line and at the moment it looks to me like Lindy’s going out of this he’s in fourth place he’s got to get his head back together again and I’m not sure he hasn’t got an issue here as he came in and through so look at this it is going to be pering G leading them down then it’s Carl and then it is r and at the moment just rolling up over the top and I think rolling out of the race goes Edwin Lind so we’re going to go into the second lap we’ve made it downstairs we made it over the two tabletops pering G pushes on again will Carl be able to make a move R watch out for him for a last gas move even up onto the stairs he’s not afraid of diving into these Corners he’s a man who really likes to push the limits of grip he’s got to keep himself safe on the way in and through so as they come in around pering G leading this race out he made a very interesting move on Lind as they came in around those turns he’s going to lead them up here rer has made a move on car Hoven they’re going to come in and through K is going to be taken out Rus going to celebrate coming in and through the line pering G gets a high five in and through Edwin Lind out of the race there now I saw a hand go up in that race I’m not sure whether that was pering G as I called in that race or whether that was coming from Edwin Lind we will find out uh so we will see what’s going to happen who’s going through to the main finals who’s going through to those semi-finals now the results on our screen are those that are unofficial at the moment of course subject to our comair they are indeed G the first two Riders SC Over The Line in that race Cal Hoven and Lind should be here at the start line Lite was the rider who had a rear tire issue looks like she’s not got back into the start line mid CL basier and Le they are the riders in fifth to eth what order will it be at the final we will find out let’s see how long they give L to get to the start line I think her time has run out the 15 seconds go board goes across in front of our rers the rers don’t know when they’ll start in those next 15 seconds and they are away at the moment clure looking to maximize her points here clure who’s 11th in the series standings after Paris is going to be looking to move up this is going to add to her points total with a good result here in the finals will she be able to take that away behind aier continues to push he’s not going to let the country woman disappear down the road to far here behind Li mum is in contention The Denmar Rider sitting in third position here if the positions would stay as they are that will be five six and seven for clour boier and mdom at the moment that is subject of go to what happens on the rest of this lap and lap number two to come up on to to the stairs now the stairs causing less issues than the rest of the course pretty much for our Riders on the ascent on The Descent that is definitely not the case and these Riders know that their positions matter now it’s not just about being the first two in and through getting yourself qualified in and through this is about every single position every point will matter when we get to the end of the race series remember eight rounds of the UCI MTB Eliminator world cup plus of course the world championships in Arland all valuable points to be gathered by the Riders as they come in here mam starts to make a move on basier basier starts to push up on CL but they going to go back into position those moves don’t come to anything if anything they’ just cost the challenging Riders a little bit of momentum here do y looking secure in the first place in this the minor final for those Riders who didn’t qualify into the main finals pleasure the former world champion going to be coming into this right hand turn getting the support from the crowd at the side you can see Mam’s looking to Challenge B is she going to come up on the inside as they come around this turn she is she’s making a move on the inside but she can’t hold the speed B is going to take second place to cl’s win here with mdam going in behind yeah so clure taking fifth place basier taking Sixth and mdom taking seventh today in that small final well that’s how the Women’s small final rolled out the men are up next we will be looking at between Fifth and eighth place in that men’s competition with the next start you can see the men lining up at the moment so Lind from Sweden Cal Hoven from France Hower from Austria a Marat from Spain lined up and ready to go well Linda’s had a real roller coaster he’s been in the air he’s been on the top tube he has been shunted out the side and he’s not had an Bill to move into the final after that move by pering G not upheld it means he is in the small final he has got his work cut out will that adrenaline fire him up more than it will do Hower who slid out on the back tire Hower comes in a little bit more circumspect this time but he leads him through he got the position he got that line right and alongside him as they came in they were all pushed back pushed into position at the moment though Espo’s on a great ride here sitting in second place but he must know that he has got the Swedish Powerhouse he has got Edwin Lind the man who can really motor on boss will Lind looks to make a move where he had to fight off baring G on the sand he’s going to try and wind it up he can’t go down the inside he’s not taking any risk here and at the moment Hower is the man who really seems to want this the most s low on the bike there really keeping the power down as Lyn starts to make a move he goes over the top of Espinosa in round towards the line for the end of La number one out they go again Hower with The Gap that is starting to open up here it is going to be two seconds on the line as they make the way in and through as they go over the top so it looks like the rers they come through leading it through it’s going to be Hower who’s going to take this out he has got the positioning and it looks like it is going to be the rider from Austria ahead of the rider from Sweden then it’s going to be the rider from France and Mar from Spain Cur ly dropped down into fourth place I don’t think he made it down the stairs with the bike in one piece you’re going to have to take a little bit of a look back at that but at the moment Hower looking impressive up on the front here so Hower leading comes in to the steps land is going to come in behind him remember these are for fifth to eighth positions in the race here in the finals how against the arms in the air behind him it’s going to be Lyn Salvage in what he can then it’s going to be car hen and then then it will be Mar espino’s body double AKA Paul martat who will come in through for fourth place well the Hower taking fifth place today by winning that small final doing better than the 10th position in round one Lind salvaging everything he could to finish in sixth so now we head over to our women’s finals and the four Riders lined up DD de in one or Maya in two you can see those two Riders on screens at the moment they are up against DD de from the Netherlands and an Mo band her compatriot well actually because that’s esposa from Spain so just double check where we are at on the screen but it is the young Rider Espinosa from Spain in three so let’s go match let’s see how this plays out so let’s see who’s going to take this out our Riders lined up it’s de in Lane number one on the far side in the Dutch national champions Jersey the world champion toour Mana up against the young red Espinosa who had a lucky Escape in those T5 to and Van D surely only moments away surely going to be this season we’re going to see it take a victory in the xce but g tom and all the rest of the RS will have something to say about that it’s foot out flat out for van she runs right she pushes as the rider behind her there wide as well that is going to be Espinosa who’s pushed wide as they came Ina at the moment leading over the first of our doubles takes a look over a shot she see van in the black the shadow immediately behind her then it’s going to be ESP chasing hard at the moment and did he the after being so dominant in the early races during this competition just starting to fade she’s in the finals that’s a great result here at The Eliminator but she will want more she has time to make it more remember all these positions equal points all those points will be added to their Series standings those Series standings are all the way in and through to the end of The Eliminator and this is really really key here today so making the way in and through goes around that left out to to Mana laying that bike over look at the Gap she’s opened up here down those stairs before the rest of the Raiders come into the steps and as they come down the from Spain Mar Espinosa trying to make a move on Amon vanis of the Netherlands she’s not able to move up on her though and that means at the moment van D sitting in second place at the moment didy re looking down at the bike and wondering whether she’s got a little bit of a problem down there with the gears at the back of vanine bike she was looking right the way down through the frame towards the back wheel she’s in Fourth Place she’ll want to get into the Finish clearly but at the moment there is no stopping guy at all Maya she’s been training hard for this season she’s riding the bike with the world champion stripes on it the iconic rainbow bounds on the Jersey as youd expect from all of the UCI world champions she knows she’s got it she’s the world champion she takes the win here today in the finals behind it’s a Sprint for the line that surely is going to be a photo finish between vanit and Espinosa for second and third place will it be vanis will it be Espinosa we’ll have to wait to find out Diddy D is going to be the rider I think who is not going to make the line in fourth place but what a ride by Gia TOA oh G TOA the world champion taking top spot today in Barcelona after taking second place in round one in Paris vanst and Espinosa on my clock at the moment is 5 hunds of a second between them for second and third place so cracking job from espanosa the young Spanish Rider to run the Netherlands Rider van so close a second in fact there you go it is indeed confirmed gu TOA in one Van Into Espinosa taking third and de de as you mentioned Matt having problems with the bike and not finishing well she’s still going to get fourth place there great result Emma well she is indeed and now we roll through to the men’s final that will be up next in Barcelona will it be as fast and furious as we’ve well it’s all change at the top in the women’s from round one it’s going to be all change at the top in the men’s at round two as well because we do not have molard who won in Paris in this Final in fact we’ve got sares we’ve got rker we’ve got shenberger and perin G the world champion lined up so here we go the last final of the day this is going to make four very interesting watching because we will have to see who is going to take out the win here pering G desperately wants he wants to add to a his points total he was right in the mix par on his home T he couldn’t take away the win B now was looking imperious that day it’s not going to be the case today who’s going to take it out here remember this is going to be all about getting safely round the course s leading through the French national champion he’s right ahead of R the man who has to make moves usually in the race to move up and through at the moment he’s in second place that’s a great position at the moment they are currently ahead of the chasing Riders behind and that is the world champion pering G along with shenberg and now these Riders will be wise to the pering G move across the sand as he will try and push up use that big kick that big sprint as he goes now but he’s not close enough to do that he can’t get onto the wheels of RA and that means that he can’t use that big kick that big spint to take him up there now he’s in third place can the world champion do anything about this can he move up it’s not about qualifying it’s about being on that TOP Step series leads them through around that left hand turn right on his wheels is R R’s having to fend off and guard against the world champion all of them at the moment are not having to worry about sh just a fraction off the pace 1.62 down on the lead as they went over the top of the line but look at the pace that series is carrying over the tabletops you could see he visibly opened a gap and pering G actually of all the Riders over there lost the most time it’s put him back in the clutches of shenberger but sares opening the Gap great technique really really opening it up and at the moment leading through French Rider in that final in fourth place well the Fast and Furious racing that has given us from Barcelona today has been absolutely fantastic and we will indeed be moving on to the flower Ceremonies for the top spots in both the women’s and the men’s competition now it will indeed be our women up first but first we are going to hear from our female winner this is Gia TOA gu
