I had the pleasure of knowing a writer from Idaho named Tom Sawyer back in the 70s. He dominated any type of race he entered in his youth. he left and went to Europe and was riding the speedway circuit. Came home from I think Czechoslovakia for a vacation. Was riding his old BMW up Highway 21, hit a chunk of firewood that fell out of someone’s trailer, went in the creek and it killed him. It still upsets me to think about it. He was such a neat guy. I wasn’t a great rider but I did get to ride with him a few times and I’ll never forget him. RIP TOM.😘
