Esow Alben, the talented cyclist from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, continues to make India proud on the international stage. Recently, Alben secured a gold medal in the Men’s Keirin event at the Internationale Bahnen-Tournee in Darmstadt, Germany, held on May 16, 2024. This UCI Class 2 event also saw Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam clinch the silver medal, showcasing the strength of Indian cycling.

Alben’s victory in Darmstadt adds to his impressive track record. Last year, he won a bronze medal in the elite men’s keirin event at the Finale Bahnen-Tournee 2023 in Dudenhofen, another prestigious UCI Class 1 event. The 23-year-old Alben has been a trailblazer for Indian cycling, having become the first Indian to win a world championship medal when he secured a silver at the 2018 World Championships.
