The most outstanding feature of this Engwe E26 bike, in my opinion having hardly used it, is its power. It offers 70 nm of torque meaning that for riding up hills off road, it really performs. It claims a 30 degree hill climbing capacity which I would agree with – which is steeper than any road I know of.

The bicycle can be seen and bought here :

The downsides of the bike are the weight and the rear gear ratio which assumes that one goes uphill only in assisted mode.
Two other downsides are easily resolved. The bike basket on the rear is ridiculously wide and does not work unless one has a step through bike – so don’t bother with the bar at the top. This was offered as an option and for some reason I cannot understand now, I did not think of it. Maybe I wanted a bike that looked like a bike!

I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.

In my YouTube channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Murvi, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow, Holzmobil, Giotti Line, Florium, Fleurette, Ahorn, Westfalia, Space Camper, Orange Work, Concorde, Womondo, Protec, Auto Sleeper, Dethleffs, Ilusion, Gehocab, Malibu, Pilote, Wild Ax, Vantage, Bresler, Tom’s Fahrzeugtechnik, Morelo, Swift, Carado and others.

I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.

I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.

I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

right the problem here is this is too big and now I’ve got to get my leg over oh so and now I’m ready to go [Applause] hello and welcome from camp for you in VAV Poland I have got this new bicycle here enway I think that’s how it’s pronounced and um explore a new way I think you’d agree that it looks pretty good and the price is also pretty good €1,400 uh appr approximately and uh there’s a link uh below to where you can actually get one from and uh let’s have a look though at some of the features cuz there’s good things and there are bad things and um I think I’ll come around to the back to start off with actually uh the bad thing which is really not good at all is this now obviously this basket is something which will come off uh as you need it so it’s not absolutely essential but I really have a lot of trouble getting my leg over on that and at my height uh 175 CM I’m at the average height for a European male so it with the basket that I think makes it uh not good at all what I would suggest is to get some pias for it instead now next thing look at the size of those t I am a very experienced cyclist I am not however an experienced cyclist off uh Road and um so 4×4 to use the motor home words this is a 4×4 vehicle if you like um it is a off-road uh bicycle and uh okay here on the campsite giving it a go I mean this isn’t exactly tough off-road conditions but um it certainly it dealt with them very well and I’m going to take it out into a little bit harder conditions to see how well that goes but what is absolutely brilliant with it and there something I have never ever experienced before is well it’s not as much this actually is it it’s down there it’s the motor the assistance doing uh on on the highest is incredible the power I have never felt so much power in a vehicle this is just in a bicycle and this is just the first day so from that point of view that is absolutely uh incredible what I would have liked though a bit better is on the gear system down here the gears uh you can see only small ones and for when it’s off uh the motor when I’m doing it just on my own Pedal Power uh this here is to uh I I would appreciate a much slower gear much bigger cogs at the back instead of the ones I’ve got having said that you may say well look this is an electric bike it’s got a range of 14 a claim range of 140 I don’t know how true that is but that’s probably going downhill With the Wind behind you and uh with the motor turned off but from but it’s uh do you do you really need it now my what I was thinking is this when I go out my van then uh I’ve gone somewhere now normally present I think well after 40 km I’ve got to come back and um so I put my my maximum 80 km but with this I thought I could do 80 km and then I have the power to get back with a little bit of energy so that was that was my idea with something of this nature uh now next point with it well it’s an electric bike it’s very chunky it’s very rugged looks a bit like a yellow tank but uh so you’ve got to expect it to be heavy and uh it does take a bit of lifting and it did take a bit of uh getting it into my garage but there’s a reason why it took me a bit and it wasn’t just the weight trying to get it into my garage uh was because unfortunately it’s too big it doesn’t fit in my garage so it’s not going to be going with me now I can of course remove the handlebars and then it goes in I mean you probably think we remove the wheel but uh it’s easy I think to in this case it’s easy to actually remove the handlebars that’s odd isn’t it you but I know I used to always remove the wheel but I I would find that easy but anyway this V this bike will be staying here at this campsite camp for you in VAV Poland and if you tell them that you saw this video on my channel and obviously you’ve got to be staying here uh as a as a guest but uh if you’re on site with your uh motor home your camper van or your tent then you will be able to take this one out you just say you saw the video and you can take the bike out free for a day so there’s a little offer uh we’re giving you for people who actually see this now I’m going to come back and give some more information on this a little bit later how it was in practice and how things the hardcore stuff went but one thing I am going to do though that this this thing at the back here it’s just it’s just too it’s just too big they do have the step through so if you fancy something like that get the step through one without this I don’t even know why I even ordered this or maybe I never maybe it didn’t even occur to me that I wouldn’t be able to get my leg over I think that’s probably what happened and so I wanted a bike that looked like a bike so get the one without the get the one with a step through and that would be much easier so there you go that is my opinion there are other people have left opinions on this uh vehicle on this bicycle I should say on the uh internet so you might want to have a look at what they have to say as well I suspect some of them are may be even more hardcore cyclists than I am although you know I’m uh this is my first electric bicycle I have been trying them out from time to time over the past 12 years or so but um this is the one uh the first one I’ve actually owned so uh uh obviously um maybe it takes a little bit getting used to these are first thoughts about it but anyway hey have a look at me uh riding it in this video uh thanks for watching [Applause]

    1. I'm a bike rider and wonder, why are you slinging your leg way back over the seat and basket? Tilt the bike slightly and lift your leg up and over in front of the seat. Kind of how children do when they ride a full size bike. It works for me.

    2. As a long time motorcycle rider, I HIGHLY recommend wearing long pants and gloves when you ride something like that, especially on gravel. If you fall, (crash), gravel can go through your skin and cause somewhat long and painful injuries to your hands and knees. Anything can happen, a dog or other large animal can run right in front of you, causing a fall. Stay safe!
