We had been invited by Roger at Crewe Motorcycle Centre, to the Royal Enfield “City Tour” event, where we could take a demonstrator motorcycle out on a guided ride. We were in a group of 8, and I chose the 2024 Interceptor 650, so that I could compare it to the old 2020 model, which I used to own. It was really good to get back on the Interceptor, so I enjoyed my ride out on it, and I hope you enjoy the video too..

    [Music] right afternoon all uh we’re out on a bike again there’s something very different today we’re on a group ride from crew motorcycle center from the Royal Enfield demo day so uh I thought uh I would take out the newer Interceptor 650 uh obviously because I used to have honor my Interceptor 650 uh yeah I I didn’t really know what to expect on this run um I thought they might have been uh like individual ride outs but it’s not it’s uh it’s a group ride and you got a rider at the front and Rider at the back um it’s going to be quite a long ride so what I might end up doing is just uh you know cutting bits Out Here There and Everywhere especially these bits where we’re in traffic uh and I’m hoping that there’s enough battery life to uh uh to last cuz I don’t know whether or not it’s going to stop anywhere [Music] it’ll be uh it’ll be interesting to find out what uh how this new Interceptor fars uh it’s actually quite a warm day a lot warmer than it was predicted to be uh so I might be a bit riding with if Vis are [Music] open uh also I don’t know what route they’re taking and obviously I know quite a lot of the roads around here uh so it’ll be interesting to see where we end [Music] up uh it’s been really good actually while we’ve been waiting for the uh for the uh at my turn to come I’ve been um ning with uh some subscribers really good Andy all and he uh on the shotgun in front of Paul who’s also want a shotgun oh no sorry I got that [Music] wrong um yeah so Andy is behind the leader then pulls in front of this car I can tell you straight off the bat this is the new Interceptor is very familiar but it’s actually uh quite a bit smoother I think yeah so we got Paul here and Andy with the black helmet as we negotiate all these new roads and Roads that been closed and uh as you see all anyone who watch me for a number of years knows I don’t tend to ride in groups Ravel in the middle of the road there uh I fitted uh a set of yss rear shocks to my Interceptor um although these look the same they do actually feel better than the originals or maybe it’s just that I’m used to riding the classic 350 [Music] now um yeah Royal Enfield have brought all their own bikes to the shop so none of these are Rogers uh now I believe this is going to be quite a long run so I might split it up into two videos hope you don’t mind [Music] the gear box is still lovely and sweet and slick [Music] and this one’s uh black white and red with a blackout engine no it hasn’t shows how much I noticed standard engine shows how much attention they made didn’t they yeah the engine definitely feels um they’ve really smooth made it smoother uh than the original lovely you know this 650 twin engine yeah a lot of people are saying that they’re not bringing out anything new they’re just bringing it they’re just doing different versions of the same thing and why not when you’ve got a package that is this good yeah when the when the engine I mean it’s a cracking motor this is fell there was pulling his in but he’s got on going now [Music] uh one of my complaints with the original Interceptor was that the suspension was quite crashy uh especially at the front and I ended up putting the um Fork spaces that um gram Chadwick you can find him online brass bling I think his name is oh we’re going up the windsford road [Music] uh slowing up now so that everyone else can catch up I think so it shows the uh slow speed maneuverability of the interceptor the state of this road God Str hey Paul we were talking about pots earlier on weren’t we it’s not just the pot look at the Gravel [Music] uh yeah I was on about the suspension the the suspense the Springs don’t feel as crashy uh the rear shocks definitely feel better was even U my original one uh out of the crate they did feel quite crashy and and not in a good way these are fine God these roads are terrible like you know I keep on about the the gear box absolutely fantastic gear box the engine feels like it’s got a bit more pep I tell you something that hasn’t changed and that’s that plank of a seat I can feel my uh my bom already starting to go numb only been out 5 minutes uh on mine I put uh the touring seat on which uh drastic dramatically improved it don’t if you noce the pub back there then us to go drinking in there this is now a a ruin there wer winsford yeah it’s funny I’m I’m staying here now trying to sort of like think where they might be going I suppose lo logistically you know they’ve got to think about I think there’s eight of eight bikes in this group so uh let’s go they got to find ways of uh keeping everyone together so they pick a route accordingly actually you forget just how much of a stretch it is to the bars uh on the interceptor wonder if we’ll turn left up here go towards uh the open part Direction yeah turning left towards Cher [Music] chance to open it up a bit now Rong with the brakes again actually if anything the back brake is better than it uh used to be I tell you something those shot the exhaust from the shotgun they do sound well I don’t know whether you can pick it up uh it’s a very windy day today uh I changed my mic by the way I put my old mic back in so I’m really am hoping that this comes out okay I don’t recall I’m getting a lot of WS from the engine uh I don’t recall my old one being like that at [Music] all not many others are nodding today another left I would think if it went right up there uh you’d end up going to uh where pip came from uh to anyone who watching this and don’t know who pip is it’s a little doggy we’ve got now that’s rehomed uh we have to sign a load of forms if all coming out today I think I didn’t read I didn’t read it but I I’m guessing that it was uh if I crash it I’ve bought it [Music] I hope the window noise isn’t too much for you guys uh I must admit I was tempted with uh taking out the Continental GT uh but as I’ve mentioned loads of times previous uh I got I got knocked off my bike in 1982 uh and as a consequence I’ve got a knackered shoulder uh and even wanted to I was talking to someone that came off one of the last rides hi guys if you’re watching this um and they he said that the like with that just that angle was enough uh to cause quite a bit of pain [Music] well it’s a few years since I’ve been down this road but it is it’s heading towards little budworth uh anyone that knows is not far from Molton Park Tim part of the race circuit hey wouldn’t it be good go and do go and do a [Music] lap um four packs the obviously they haven’t changed but I’ve been you know after riding the classic 350 for so long you forget just how raised they are like quite high up and uh I had I had mine for 3 years but this just feels so much higher very odd [Music] [Music] yeah when we just leaving that Junction then the cacophony of exhaust it sounded great yeah the bat brake is massively in improved over the last one [Music] nice r on it and there that’s large corner Molton Park and there’s the entrance to WT park there ah it’s going the way we used to come to all Park blood [Music] tell you something the guys on the himalayans will be enjoying this this is the this is the wall here is the boundary wall for Alton Park Raceway race circuit Raceway I’m not American oh there’s an event of some sort on [Music] today you can’t beat the parallel swin bouncing off the walls I’ll tell you something the weather is absolutely glorious it was supposed to be raining I mean how often do I say it the other way around look these here stupid [Music] people uh right there no oh oh it’s going a different way oh booger just down there it kept on [Music] going what was it I might be getting mixed up myself now there’s a Bend somewhere where when it was 16 on my Suzuki ap50 I went into it and there was gravel and uh it was a right-handed Bend uh being inexperienced I took big handful of front brake uh actually we it might be further up here I’m sure at the end of video we’ll either turn left or turn right uh anyway anyway whatever I got a big handful of front brake down I went like that off I came me and the bike slid into the Hedge and uh the bike landed there was a telegraph pole and the bike landed with the uh headlight one side of it and the mud guard the other side of [Music] it bit useless information there for you [Music] he still with me um I don’t know if they’re having to stop like I said be full um [Music] I could feel the uh I could feel the the beat of uh balls bike in front then uh yeah I don’t if I don’t think they’re stopping anywhere so um the uh the camera might run out of juice you know bloody bloody bottles yeah I was just thinking then I thought that was that bend but it can’t have been cuz there wasn’t a telegraph B I wish uh I wish I was on him Lane with these poles no it’s good it’s good to get back on an Interceptor [Music] again I think you look uh you look good on that bike p yeah super she [Music] mate uh yes so while I’m while I’m here I like to say thank you to the Royal Enfield guys for bringing their demo day to crew motorcycle center been a really good turnout actually [Music] uh of course with it being a Saturday the the guys will be trying [Music] to trying to avoid traffic won’t they [Music] um we have been instructed not to overtake so I better not overtake oh my bom is right at the roundabout uh unless they decide to go right towards n twitch I just like uh I find myself now on this in the same way that I used to on mine is just knocking it down a gear when you don’t really need to uh just just to feel it it’s cuz it’s great it’s a great feeling I know they said not to but yeaha you know I hope you can hear me this a fantastic bike is it this engine [Music] you forget just how good this uh Pike is yep just entering Church Mitchell and we’ll come to that roundabout where we turned right and we’re down to about one bar on the uh uh on the camera so looking people that say how many miles to the gallon it do booger it knock it down and give it some or is it because I’m a hooligan that heart could be actually want a bad route um well now uh basically it’ll     2. That was fun, enjoyed the ride. The zorst notes at junctions did sound nice.
      I could tell you were enjoying your ride on the Interceptor and all the fantastic memories riding it brought back.
      You’ve probably already considered this Ian. I use a battery charger pack to power my action camera, you know the usb ones to charge your phone with. Neve run out of battery this way.

    3. I like the new switchgear on the new interceptor, but not the oval front brake fluid reservoir. There is nowhere to strap my watch too…… It is a better arrangement than on the Norton though. I can see that you have been missing the interceptor! 😁😁👍👍.

    7. Thanks Ian, an enjoyable ride through Cheshire, the roads around Oulton Park were still familiar although it's about 40 years since I was last there! Those 650 engines sounds great, unfortunately I don't think I can justify the purchase and running costs, so it'll still be a 350 or a Himalayan for me. Cheers, Mick

    9. Hi Ian, thanks for the shout out. This is the first time I have ever seen myself riding, and I didn't make a complete fool of my self. Must say I really enjoyed the Shotgun, but I would have to look at changing the seat, the cheeks of my backside were a bit numb by the time we got back.

    12. Great ride out but how did you manage to have so much fun without a TFT widescreen, multimode 200bhp engine and adjustable wheelie control? The Enfield range seem to be imbued with the essence of something magical that makes a motorbike great. More of everything isn't always better I think. That's enough of me on my soapbox 👍
