Knowing we had the Easter period free, we planned a long weekend touring the North of England. We made a similar trip in 2019 but this year we extended it by a day.

On Day 1, we left home in East Yorkshire and rode via York and Knaresborough to the Yorkshire Dales. We then took on a loop that took us through Pateley Bridge, Skipton to Gisburn where we stopped for a fantastic lunch in the Delicious Deli & Café. We then headed north over the fantastic Lythe Fell Road into Bentham. The clouds looked very ominous so we kitted up in waterproofs and a good job we did, as the heavens opened on the next part of the ride via Ingleton, Hawes, Buckden and to our final destination, Austwick.

The GameCock Inn, in Austwick, holds great memories for us as we have camped as a family in the area for years and we couldn’t resist going back for their amazing food.

Very tired and wet, we decamped for some drinks and filled our stomachs.
