I hit a nasty bump a few days back. It was a straight on hit on a curb that I did not see until it was too late (randomly placed in the middle of a fast gravel road descent), but I did not crash, so pretty much axial load with minor torsion I guess, tyres and rims are fine. I also wanted to readjust my stem so I decided to just take a quick look at the fork steerer while I was at it. The part that extends out of the steering tube looks fine, but this is what it looks underneath. Are these normal “welds” or is this a broken fork in the making? There are no strange noises coming from the fork, even under load, no play, I always tighten everything with a torque wrench religiously and make sure to stay a good chunk below the max values (using carbon paste).
