A man has been arrested after a cyclist died in a horror crash involving a HGV in Salford. Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to Cromwell Road on Thursday afternoon.

    Greater Manchester Police said that a cyclist, a man in his 40s, has since died. Officers arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

    The force said he has been released on bail while its investigation continues. Police have appealed for anyone with information or video footage to come forward.

    a cyclist has died following a horrific crash involving a lorry in sford emergency services rushed to Cromwell Road on Thursday afternoon the Majic Collision occurred at the junction with Langley Road South greater much the police say the cyclist a man in his 40s died due to his injuries a 39-year-old man was arrested on the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving he has since been released on bail an investigation has been launched greater Manchester police have called for anybody with information or video footage of the incident to come forward it spoke person for great Manchester police said just before 400 p.m. on Thursday 16th of May 2024 a fatal road traffic collision occurred on cral Road sulf between a cyclist and a heavy Goods vehicle at the junction of langle Road South from initial inquiries we believe that the HTV was traveling Northeast on a576 Cromwell Road in sulfi towards the junction with Langley Road South and the victim cyclist was traveling in the same direction behind the HTV as the vehicle approached the junction of Cromwell Road and langler Road South the HTV turns left onto langler Road South and at the same time the cyclist continued to travel straight on and a collision occurred Emergency Services attended and sadly the cyclist a man in his 40s passed away as a result of the injuries he sustained a 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the Collision on suspicion of causing death by careless driving he has since been released under investigation whil inquiries continue we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward if you have any CCTV footage including dash cam mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the Collision we would like to hear from you it may be crucial to our inquiries

Let’s be honest cyclists are a law to themselves they never stick to the rules of the road the amount of cyclists I see riding straight through red lights is unbelievable if as a driver I’ve got to stay over 1m away from them the same rule should apply to them rip to the man who lost his life and my condolences to his family
