After the spine tingling Scandinavia’s longest zipline experience it was the time for us to head down to Flåm on a 16 km bike ride through the scenic Flåm valley. It is one of the most famous and well-known biking paths in Norway. The spectacular flora-fauna and landscape of this region ensures that no matter where you start this biking excursion, there’s always something to see. 😍

NOTE : Since we did the zipline, biking and Flåmsbana in one day so we had already booked all the activities well in advance (highly recommended) and got our bikes at Rallarrosa where there were numerous bikes to choose from. 🚲

A beautiful goat and dairy farm nestled in a flat region of Rallarrosa was our starting point from where around 5 km is asphalt road till Berekvam train station post which is the gravel road. The route is mostly flat and downhill with only a few uphill sections .We had to stop every now and then as almost every turn has awe-inspiring scenery to stop and admire. 🏞

This bike ride offered us breathtaking views of Kårdalsfossen, Rjoandefossen, Cavefossen and Brekkefossen waterfalls. If you are not opting for the zipline then you can directly start biking from Myrdal station all the way to Flåm which is 18.5 km. Since cycling on this route was truly an amazing experience for me and my wife so now we would like to explore other cycling routes in Norway as well. 😃

Sitting in a bike trailer on this road, which is bumpy and covered in coarse gravel at times, would on the other hand won’t be a pleasant experience.

FLÅM CHURCH is situated 3 km up the Flåm valley. A wooden church constructed in 1667 and the altar piece dates back to 1681.The decorations of the choir dates from the same period showing grapevine patterns. The church’s nave has been decorated some time in the 18th century with pictures of deciduous trees and different kind of animals. ⛪

FLÅM VILLAGE is small yet offers a treasure trove of spectacular scenery. Arrive via Norway’s longest fjord or one of the world’s steepest train routes. Walk or cycle around the harbor, through a lush valley and at the base of towering mountains streaked with waterfalls. Flåm is a sympathy of Norwegian nature at its finest. 🧡

Cycling is an aerobic exercise just like walking, jogging, or running. However, cycling is often set apart because it is a low-impact exercise that also can double as a mode of transportation. If you are prone to injuries or have a medical condition that makes walking or running challenging, cycling can be a great alternative because it is easier on the muscles and joints. 🦵
