This time im in Weston-Super-Mare on the North Somerset coast. Instead of doing the obvious walk along the seafront i instead choose to take a walk through Worlbury Woods to the nearby beach of Sand Bay. I then take the open top bus back to Weston to take a look at “The Knife Angel” sculpture before gorging on a German kebab to finish the video off.

[Music] welcome to Western super marrow on the North Somerset Coast coming today it’s a really nice day so I’m not going to do a walk along the seafront I’m going to do a walk to San B the other side of those woods there up through wbury woods and I’m going to pass some interesting things on the way so first going to get off the beach right so I’m to the back streets now and the next place I’m going to visit is Grove Park interesting it’s a nice uh Pink building coming out [Music] it’s a great looking shop a Hippie Shop here we go Grove Park Park’s quite busy already and I’m heading for a place called Gio’s Garden so this is Gio’s Garden Gio Dand was a TV personality newsreader who was um murdered in 1999 and this Garden was up as a memory for her there’s a very nice war memorial here in the park as well out the park onto the next bit now so I’m out of Grove Park now and I’m heading up into wallbury woods and over into San Bay just have a quick look there’s some nice was houses in this area actually so as I head up now into wbury Woods I can’t say w wbry Woods um passing some rather interesting buildings actually Dom Preston can’t quite read that there’s an old sign on the side of this building [Music] I think this building here must have been a school or something whether it still is but it’s got an amazing Tower and what looks like gargoyles or something sticking out yeah some sort of creatures dragons or gargo something like that so come off the road now and go for this little Narrow Lane there some very old steps but there is an Old Quarry an abandoned Quarry to my left so I’m wondering where this something to do with that nice and cool in the shade you can actually see into the Old Quarry just there it’s all heavily fed off so it’s all safe that’s the thing with WB Woods there’s paths everywhere in every direction so I’m going to head in the general direction of San Bay which is this way ahead and I hope for the best that looks fun it sound like a BMX bike track [Music] [Music] wow that was scary but he was okay but I did capture that on his phone right so I just got across road now and we’re to S Bay and here we are San Bay much quieter its neighbor West and super rare around the corner and it’s a glorious day oh where’s the seagull no okay there’s an 11 M tide in this uh the Bristol Channel so that’s why the sea saf far Bay at the moment it’s fantastic views all around from here we’ got the Sand Point sticking out straight ahead and over to there you can see the hills and mountains of w and that big city there’s cardi and CI Bay flat home Island steep home Island over there and burn Pier which is the old Pier which was the main here in Western a long time ago now um in a ruin unfortunately but they’re supposedly being uh supposedly being restored at some point in the near future so here’s a reminder of the the dangers of these beaches down this way dangerous sinking mud so you don’t want to walk out too far but to be honest if you start walking down you would get stuck in up to your ankles before you got into any serious trouble right how far I’m going to walk along the beach I don’t think I go all the way along cuz it it’s is quite a walk um just over halfway of some old um pill boxes from the second world war which I’m not going to go to today I’ll try and cover that on another video in the future [Music] actually so just found out that there is a open top double decker bus Which can take me back around to Super m so I’m going to take that one back that’ll be fun of it [Music] [Laughter] and here we go [Music] w [Music] [Music] get off the next one cheers that was a journey was it Go quite cold now that [Music] wind so just come away from the sea from a minute cuz I just want to show something interesting down here into the shopping center [Music] the knife Angel is a contemporary sculpture formed of 100,000 knives created by artist Alfie Bradley and the British Ironworks Center completed in 2018 the structure of the angel stands at 8.2 M tall in order to create the sculpture 200 knife Banks were produced by the Iron Works and amnes is held for individuals that anonymously donate their knives knives seized by police were also included some of which arrived in evidence tub still with bodily fluids on their surface the sculpture was created in order to highlight knife crime in the United Kingdom and educate young people on the harmful effect violent Behavior can have on their [Music] communities I think I’m going to go get something to eat in this German gab Place great ready to finish the video eh oh we [Music]

    1. Extra bonus footage as Martin films his very own fail army😅 Not been to Weston beach or town and it looks quite nice, despite the many things that I have heard about it. More knife angels needed me thinks because too many of them remain in trouser pockets. Nice tour around and highly enjoyable 👌

    2. Grove park plays host to G.L.O.W (Glowing Lights of Weston) every February which is well worth a look around, fab to see it by day!

I have a funny feeling we may have been at the knife angel at the same time – as I was walking to where I started my video I spotted in the corner of my eye a DJI Pocket (strange thing to spot I know) which would have been roughly where your time lapse was recorded from! 🤣

    3. Very nice wander – So many vids of WSM seem to focus on its decay – You really showed the positive side 👍👍👍 I ate in one of those Kebab places in Exeter, last time I went there over a year ago ! 😂
