Cycling into the Yorkshire Dales || Leeds and Liverpool Canal from Bradford to Skipton

he’ll start in the wrong morning folks welcome back to another little video and welcome to West Yorkshire and uh we just started our ride from uh Ian scaff he’s not been out on the bike for a few months so uh have every opportunity today to keep up with him we’re just making our way up the aale valley and we’ll see where we get to before the afternoon thunderstorms hit bit ler [Applause] on sit in this chair for a thousand years and watch the woods consume the neighborhood watch the Ambitions come and go surround the ending go we could ditch the TV and spend a little more time reading books and singing songs on the porch sit here watching the daylight Wayne leaving little CH even less [Music] memory I just want to be I just do you want to introduce that horrible building that is uh yeah that that that building is known as Bly grammar school best school in the country basically isn’t it sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever be free of these things that are weigh in heavy on me it keep me from doing going on knowing sun comes up I go back to sleep and I soall liberation of self only bound the shackles more tightly free up your mind and start thinking so we’re probably going to given that it sound been an hour and a half we can push on a bit can’t we maybe go skip to all re can skip to for lunch before the rain it doesn’t look like it at the moment Ian’s going for it for the cafe I think let’s try and keep up with him well all those cudy winter months on that washed out spring we’ve had it’s so nice just to be zipping down the toe path in the sunshine dare I say it it’s almost a little bit too warm we’re probably half a mile from Skipton now and uh I think we’re going to have a not particularly welld deserved maybe but uh Cafe stop anyway bite to eat I’m pretty hungry you uh sometimes forget when it’s warm you uh you forget to eat and drink so yeah little refuel and uh see what we want to do after lunch I need two hands for this yeah that was the bike handling skills fail can’t remember if the canal goes right through the very center but uh we’re going to find out I think this is not the place for cyclist look it was that guy that looked absolutely terrified and then you and then I think you thanked him and he and he was well folks we just heading back out of Skipton now nice lunch at the uh the Oakley or Oakley restaurant Burger in a pint not exactly a classic cycling fuel but it’s very nice U we were gassing far too long so it’s just coming up to 3:00 thunder showers uh forecast for 4 it’s getting quite windy that blue sky vanished it’s chaos in the air feels like so we’ll see if we get back in the dry just a little Public Service Announcement this little section from canalside Cafe skipped an end through into sson it’s pretty bumpy uh otherwise the whole section from really right from the center of Bradford out Skipton really nice smooth you know Toe Path probably 30 mil upwards tires you’d be absolutely fine 37s are perfect for this uh but yeah just this little section here is quite routy Rocky probably doesn’t look it on the camera uh not very pleasant but it’s quite shortlived it’s probably about 10 minutes or so uh doing maybe I don’t know 10 mph average speed or something but yeah otherwise fantastic surface all the way back down the Adell Valley hopefully before before the storm’s hit I still can’t believe that in an hour we could have stair rods and and strong winds doesn’t feel like it but stranger things have happened anyway onwards all right we’re just coming into Bradford and Ian rather inconveniently lives at top of bloody Hill out the other side so Ian could you please move house for next time we uh do a Bradford ride all right all right you heard that on camera well folks as you can probably hear the rain has started um we made it round in the Dy though so really nice ride and um yeah interesting drive back over the penines loads of lightning and the heavens are really opening now and uh I’m going to get soaked just walking a few Paces to my front door but uh yeah cracking ride and uh probably about 44 miles in total today and uh first ride of the Year where the heat was actually a factor so I need to get used thankfully I need to get used to uh riding in the sunshine again and uh probably get sun cream out for future rides but yeah thanks as always for following on to the end
