come up this climb first lap we just miss a bit of the grass do a little road bit of a chance for everyone to just fall into position but it was Jen Jackson got the whole shot good start by baton as well Courtney got a bit swallowed up oh you what are the tactics for the start Loop you just want to get yourself around here safely to the front lus it’s just so a stressful position clar are tight course is tight you’ve just got to get to that first climb no problems hold position and then the racing can start for real now a little bit of work it’s getting it’s getting physical through that little pin Alexandra Keller asserting herself at the front of it there’s your Landon there through your shot now Red’s now going up just that inside trying to get a couple positions in the ground great short track and great start to this race n currently inside the top 30 making progress a Richards and Keller over to the Riders left hand side the screen Linda ound just cutting him off slightly Jen Jackson leads a UCI World Cup and it’s Carnage behind her yeah any Eevee Richards having few issues there struggling to clip out is so tight and steep on the inside the comp working through well L is ahead of civilia blun now gives you an idea of her progress J Bella moo Works through our picture now there’s neth Keller smart by Mara ver not early there’s Jenny R fre your shot first we’ve seen her there’s toi lit up my por there is Lana LOM so Lana L’s making progress meanwhile sevia blun kick courtly the two Americans are off and [Applause] pushing hel coming up the outside now applying the pressure it’s going to be a big fight for that first descent and here comes specialized Factory racing now Hy Batton so on this climb it’s in steps on the way up steep natural sections and then kind of fun false flap but it ends about 3 or 4 minutes from top to bottom he’s under pressure the whole time Bera under pressure from Zena fry now at the front it’s Keller Keller has the lead of the race on lap one out of eight we go across this difficult route section he’s about a foot deep in Sp there’s an a line there’s a b line around the outside oh smashing the A jaon on the B Jackson having a weirder way through those uphill route section Jenny RFS having problems as well as is Stager as is Vera Lan LM homing in on the front of this race L looking really good here in Arisha Brazil Courtney having problems on the inside I need a recovery after the pce of this one at the front oh there’s Jenny rord run theart move smart move there’s two sections inside super steep super loose chance of having to on clip around the outside a blun moving up again smart move avoiding the traffic at the front these three making a break for it at Keller endand and Hy baton and this is the last main climb of the lap we come over the top of here and then it’s time the big big descend we’ve all been looking forward to The Descendant on this course really is a next level for cross country mountain bike race and we’re about to see a lot of it dring into this section now all routs all rocks Keller taking that wider line that has worked well for her there’s the medium line through this rock section baton absolutely superb through there and then is this double jump and then into a 3 m Gap jump sevilia blun done a great job bad start but a good recovery over the top of that climbing descent swing right around that tree the back of which kind of drops off it’s a burm on the way in then it flattens out this fast second group then here in Arisha being led by Lana LM can they bring this group back towards the front l no and on the first lap this steep routy climb caused absolute chaos and split the group but this front group of eight now R blun just on the back ing backing up her short track but this second group just starting to come back now it’s the comp who’s driving C really setting a Tempo and starting to split this front group already baton Reds I mean it’s pretty straightforward for Alexandra K she knows that basically any of these Elite women behind her can win Courtney recovering she had a slightly bad start but coming through now having a great week here in Brazil Hy baton takes it on at the front now the winner of the short track yesterday specialized Factory [Music] racing I think it’s going to be a big fight for The Descent every lap we saw it in the under 23 women’s this front group a mixture of some some Riders were stronger and more comfortable on the climbs some on desense so you had this kind of race of two halfs let’s watch them through this route section really really tricky awkward section Keller bubbles has to uncp wford will go past her sevilia blun is still in contention there’s indan and it’s gone from a front group of eight now to a front group of four getting busy out there I’m just wondering the temperatures continue to rise here in Arisha as we see the woman I was about to mention Jenny rf’s come to the front she likes the extremely hot temperatures you think this is playing to her advantage today yeah she’s in a great shape showed that last week she can control the race as well now you can see she’s dominating the speed taking her gel controlling the race and yeah actually everyone behind her is listening to her body language what she’s showing here was R the national champion from France Kate Cook is here [Music] seven look Courtney come through the group and the comp looking like she maybe has an issue or is it just the pacing from that first lap now started to bite the comp going backward Shake of the head there I wonder what it is is it a chain rfids though applying the pressure at the front now two three bikes between herself and Keller yeah Jenny R she’s very fast in the defense well Lana L comp I can tell you is is in free fall she’s in 50th at the minute 54 seconds back so maybe a technical problem for the comp then we saw her shake her head at the top of that climb something has gone wrong with Lana LMP oh she is off the bike and in some distress now we see Jenny rfids at the front so what will the overall title leader do I tell you it’s a dangerous game of this group lets Jenny roods be the first on The Descent and it’s so far the fastest lap Jenny RFS 10 minutes and 23 seconds so a short fast lap so to give you some perspective on that lap 1023 the fastest lap from RFS at the minute fastest lap the 23 race was 1030 look at Jenny R how fast he is here opening the Gap a little bit n up to 14th now we’re hearing Joi now she’s moving forwards K KY struggling here on the Roots come on yeah come on come on 11 off the front laas for the rider in 14th Place in the minute Yolanda NE but she is moving forward is your race leader then on lap five out of eight Jenny rf’s lead by leads by 5 Seconds from that woman behind her Alexander Keller so Keller just putting a bit of daylight between herself and Haley Batton and sevilia blun but on this section when Jenny wif is able to yeah to to recover a little bit and K she has to push really hard to close that Gap and then the next climb of the first climb will start Kella will blew up immediately and the rist’s riding her pace and riding away as well just applying that pressure with each descent yes she’s managed it perfectly so we’re not going over the limit but K she has to she has to close that Gap and you see here already the chase is coming back so if you are on your own oh small mistake here as well she’s off the bite so that could be that lead gobbled up if Alexandra Keller can get the gas on it looks like batono taking up the charge yep Keller shuffled back to Fourth causing a lot of problems this first descent first climb sorry you see now Keller she’s overtaken by sevilia BL and Haley Bon because she was pushing so hard on the flat and that cost her a little bit of time now on this climb civilia blun riding a smart race so far not getting involved in hitting the front just happy just to content and follow back in the piling pressure rfed though looking super smooth just like last week marovic just sat there like a shadow YY Barton looking to be the first Elite woman to do a short track and cross country Olympic double since Pauline foran brao in vald Sol trentino 2022 wouldn’t that be a statement heading in the European season for the American wow carrying really good speed through those big log sections putting the pressure on reds here sevilia blun then inserts herself right back into the conversation on this climb rides up half wheels Jenny RFID that will go down well meanwhile baton still at in the front just maybe just opens that line up yeah none of them really wanting to go ahead through this section blun takes it on and jumps on the gas why is that exent wow and that’s given an opportunity for ell to come back on and make a group of four again all that playing around so you’re right the winner would like it’s going to come from one of these four but who it’s going to be is anyone’s guest are on to the final lap here in ARA do not go anywhere baton attacks baton attacks blun goes wither KN oh oh blun Happ to duck underneath that tree hly Batton leads him towards the first climb it’s like the last Lev of a short race yeah exactly repeat from yesterday baton taking it on now not a smart move in my book she’s going to have to then they’re all on her now she’s got used up a lot of energy she’s going to have to drag them all across the Bott to the climb it cost a lot of effort and a lot of energy to push hard here on this section next climb will start very [Applause] soon they around that awkward turn it’s a key climb this one we’ve seen a lot of problems people having to uncp Blan to struggling did she stay clipped in and [Applause] ride as they head up that really steep climb Blanc needs to get back across to these two oh oh blonc steps off the bike and has to take it up on foot Keller now back towards the back of blun so is third place up for grabs here as well it shows how how hard it is to make it on that climb but also yeah the Riders are exhausted at the end of the race so it was just that sign of blun fatigue on the climb just it wasn’t a slip of the wheel it was just the power just wasn’t quite from our scre the if I can tell you rfids has overtaken Haley Batton at the front there they are still locked in battle then what’s going to happen at the top of that last claim that’s a big move move Jenny RF stands on the gas the oppress so much power she has RFS up by Ladle there with a big gear baton stay seated not moves the saddle and attacks there’s nothing in between these two for the first time in this race Jenny RF showing signs of effort come around the corner here the greasy Bend and then we head up to top for the last climb but rfets massively overgeared changing gear and you can tell the pressure making mistakes with better now the inside line much deeper shorter split lines who’s it going to work for it works for Baton rist just getting hung up on a route there so baton retakes the lead and there is a bike length between them on this last lap in our they head up this multi-line climb B heading over to the Rider’s right Pon attacking putting on the pressure Pon is pushing hard here oh Jan he RFS just looking slightly less comfortable than bat if comfortable is a word you can use this deep in a re say this but H he B the tax night at the top of this clim it’s 3 seconds 4 seconds just going out over the top she feels the Gap is there doesn’t look like there’s much that Jenny rord can do about this she needs to regroup clips pulling the way pass using every millimeter of the track available to her and she’s fast in The Descent really fast you see Behind These two now 21 seconds back to spil Blan 24 seconds back to Keller that Gap just suddenly exploding two strongest Riders of the race let’s go St in between these two three seconds then we got this short stiff climb now baton full cast full power standing on the P’s wrist f pushing a bigger gear riding back towards her now Jenny rist doesn’t know when she’s beaten in 2024 this is going to be some that fastest without a doubt baton leads into this descent she wouldn’t slow down anymore I don’t think she could she has to put the price down constantly till the Finish even on the flat in every corner two seconds now two seconds nothing in it but Bon so quick through this descent as she has been all R Jenny RFI will need to get back on touch on this next climb at the top of it in the last lap Neer wanted the lead I can guarantee you it’s a different thing now one more steep climb to go for Haley baton in the last lap here here She is Baton digs deep wristfit out of the sadle three seconds behind her looks over
