Welcome to the final episode in what has been a really fun series to make (and ride!). Starting from the iconic Blackpool Tower this time and making our way back into the Pennine hills; and as usual with these rides, throwing up all kinds of contrasting terrain along the way.

Please check out the other three rides in the series:

Episode 1 – North

Episode 2 – East

Episode 3 – South

Stay safe out there and happy cycling, folks!

hey folks very warm welcome to this 50m pointto point bicycle ride series here’s Ryan base just slightly Northeast of Manchester up in the wonderful penine Hills and this little series of videos I’m going to set a 50 m radius around home then travel out to the perimeter the very limits of that radius and do a point-to-point bicycle ride all the way back home and we’re going to work around the clock face or the compass points with a ride starting in the north the East the South and then a classic ride back home from the West Coast hope you really enjoy this series let’s get into today’s ride [Music] good morning folks welcome to another little video Welcome to a very Breezy and very chilly black p Pier promenades bike is ready got black p from the tower uh anyway we made it two train Journeys and uh we’ve got a pretty interesting ride all the way back home uh we’re going to skirt around uh south of Kirkham we’re going to go through Preston heading out towards Darwin and then we’re going to hit and cross through the West penai Moors which should be fun uh down towards Barry and then a short hop over some local Hills back home and uh really looking forward to this one and uh come along for the ride I’m going to get on the bike cuz it’s absolutely bloody freezing anyway let’s [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] go I’ve been waiting for breakthrough something I’ve been waiting it’s all in my head lately oh lately trying to let it [Music] go I can’t stop this from over might as well go with good might as well just carry on might as well just carry on well hats off to commute that’s uh the app is doing a really good job so far keeping me on pretty quiet Lanes where it can the odd car otherwise a very pleasant way of uh picking our way towards Preston looks like rain bit of a headwind but I’m hoping it will hold off as the weather forecast promised we all know how accurate weather forecasts are yeah very nice start to the [Music] [Applause] [Music] ride I can’t stop this reevolution forbid headed into the sun I can’t let it go it’s the ukan School of Engineering spent lots of time in there cheering uh degree boards over the years so we’re in well I can’t go around the mini roundabout with one hands we’re in Preston here and just making our way through the city on some quiet roads hopefully out the other side well might be going up a hill but this is very pleasant indeed beautiful rolling fields beautiful views now back down to Preston we really getting some height there quite quickly and more to come I think so glad I bought the gravel bike today oh dear this is really steep all right I’ll see you in a second so I think that was uh duckon Hill prop a little leg burner but the views are now opening up and it’s just beautiful W this ride is just getting better and better now beautiful Quiet Road and 19 mph I’ll take that on the gravel bike legs are feeling good Sun’s come out yeah perfect ride so far okay almost at the top of the second climb heading towards aircraft I’m looking forward to a bit downhill now the views are really up up now cobbles man come out what are you doing to me right taking our way through Darwin of a Magical Mystery to this back out onto the mall soon though hopefully what a beast of a climb out of Darwin I think this is a well I’m not going to say this is the top cuz it probably isn’t but bloody hell T my legs off that [Music] well this is a high point of the ride I think round about 1,000 ft up and I can see the Rivington radio transmitter uh we’re head uh kind of east of that down into Berry now I think down that way what a contrast from starting right out on the coast at uh well literally at sea level to be up in the hills and yeah takes a bit of effort getting up here but I think you’ll agree it’s worth it stunning geese when I uh drew the 50 m radius around sort of base camp or home and I just saw that black pool was just Within Reach uh I knew that one of my rides probably the last ride would be uh from the west coast and if you know kind of Northwest England the Manchester to Blackpool ride is pretty famous it’s a very popular kind of test run for Riders uh there’s an annual sport Eve that I think starts at ala keys and goes out to Black it’s about 60 Mi and you know thousands and thousands of people do that every year as a charity ride or as a competitive event and I’ve never done that never uh taken my bike to Blackpool I’ve done a couple of rides out to forby to the coast years and years ago when I was getting ready for the jugle the J gos to L’s end and um just saw this was a great opportunity within the the challenge of the 50 mile point to point uh to start black and yeah what a fantastic ride it’s proving to be I am bloody AER though so yeah a little pit stop here it’s Breezy but it’s not too cold now and uh then we’ll crack on down towards Berry [Music] [Music] a some really nice views across to peel Tower and Rams Bottom now over that way and we’re heading down I think into tottington and then through tottington into bar few more Hills before finish the ride actually quite a few more miles before we finish the ride but as always the latter stages of these bigger rides or bigger rides for me thoughts start turning to that big cup of tea here’s where we are and picking up speed now so I’m going to get my other hand back well this is very unexpected quite nice just passing through Haywood now and uh I can see the hills of Home in the distance only about 7 miles to go legs are definitely feeling it now but uh yeah on the home straight okay just making our way through Rockdale Town Center impressive Town Hall behind me few more miles and the next big cup of tea time I really want a big cup of tea now he folks well I completely forgot to sign off the Blackpool ride so I just popped out for a few minutes uh to sign off the whole little series of 50 mile rides in fact thank you as ever for following along to the end of the video and please do consider liking and subscribing and all that jazz let me just dodge this tractor where was I yeah been a nice little Challenge and uh throwing up some really varied cycling and real nice mix of Countryside and urban Hills and uh fast flat riding and I hope you found something of interest in the north the South the East and the West rides that I’ve done as part of this little Series so yeah it just remains to say thank you again as always please stay safe take care and happy cycling and uh I’ll see you out on the roads on the next ride very soon bye for now oh [Music] [Music]

  1. Interesting that you can come up with an idea like the four rides from fifty miles and it gets you into all that amazing countryside and on all those unexpected tracks. Even though we cycle on different routes and in different parts of the country we still face the same problems as cyclists – tractors on narrow lanes and potholes to name but two. Would be useful to have a video describing how to planned the routes. Thanks for the videos.

  2. Good to see some northern rides. I live in Northamptonshire – so no coastal rides for me!
I'm in my mid sixties so any hill more than 10-12% means walking up for me, better now as just fitted grx 46/30 and 34 rear on my triban rc520.

  3. Good ride with a very varied route.
It's great to see the landscape changing as you tick the miles off.
I recognised the right turn to Darwen from my Avanti-sponsored 'Preston to Home' escapade last year.

  4. My partner and myself have been really enjoying all of your content and we’d like you to know you’ve inspired us greatly! Really love the 50 mile series as we’re both aiming to smash 50 miles in a day. So far our longest has been 32 miles.
    Keep on going!!!
    P.s were near Burnley/Todmorden.
