the weather for the fifth and final stage of the tour to Hungry looked absolutely perfect as it has been all week and going into the final stage tibo nce after two stage wins in a row in the yellow Jersey and looking to defend it over a long ride Southward 16 km to reach the finishing circuit 21k anticlockwise in and out of the city of f and finishing up that tough Category 2 climb and it’s really tough It’s the steepest climb of the race so far and it would really test the Riders resolve in hanging on to the yellow Jersey but also trying to take it away from him gaps at this stage still so small in the general classification we had a massive Breakaway on this day it was opened up um as we’ve seen a number of times so far this race by Duan rovic the Serbian road race champion and in the end we’d have 11 Riders after lots of efforts to go clear 11 Riders up the road initially including our King of the mountains Jersey Cibo divert in that red jersey although he would then drift away because it was a long long way to go to get to those first mountains points Mark Cavendish was in there after his stage two stage win the British rider for aan of Kazakhstan and he was picking up um five green jersey points at all of the Sprint points we went through we’ve seen the first one there we’ll see the next two I suspect in a minute in these highlights uh because Cavendish started the day in fourth place in that points Jersey competition and would take all of the points out there on stage that came at the intermediate checkpoints it was definitely a mission for Mark cabanes today and it would have to come down to of course then how TBO nce would do at the Finish because he was the leader in the green jersey competition as well as in the general classification in the end mark cavendish’s job done he dropped off and we started started the Second Ascent of pitch this tough really steep climb up above 15% in places with an average gradient of over 10% too and it really would be doing for our Breakaway at the front DSM were thinking all the time about their uh their leader Frank vandenbrook trying to keep him in good position we were watching the front end to see where the yellow Jersey was and riding far more conservatively today it has to be said tibo nce in that yellow Jersey these are the remaining two Riders from our Breakaway ATT on the shoulder and uh Kell O’Brien would be the last to re re back in coming into the final Ascent of pitch riding out of the city and Bor hrow in combination with Kell brien’s aforementioned jco aluda team doing their best to Whittle down the group as much as possible and boy was that group getting smaller more and more select all the time the yellow Jersey was being followed tracked by uh Emanuel Bookman specifically the German Champion close to him all the time watching him maybe looking for signs of weakness this was the final time through the city of before the climb going northeastward out of the city would start and that group was small UAE team Emirates would lead Mark Hy onto the climb the final time and leave him to get on with it he did his best Hy but was still just waiting knowing the climb was steep until deep into the king of the mountains point it’s a funny old climb this as well with a kind of force flat over the top to the line so a waiting game being played by many of these Riders Mark here she dropped off and Emanuel Bookman as we’ve seen him do on the climb up to kis Stu started to lift the pace from as far out as he Poss could T Ace in the yellow Jersey always looking around keeping an eye I think a lot of the time on Mark Hy Daman hon a former winner of this race riding for q36.5 was having a fantastic ride the oi in the yellow helmet gray top but it was working hard for everyone this an absolutely brutal finale but tbon still looking good Emanuel Bookman would go again that was the point at which he attacked knowing that the Hy group behind weren’t catching up just yet the Bor Hand scrow German Champion doing everything he could but it was closed up on the line and then over the top of them W poles did this what a turn of speed he has we remember right the way through his career how good his up hill Sprints are he overlapped everyone and took the stage he had wanted to be of course at the jured atalia so this was a nice way of reminding people just how well he’s going look at the change and speed as he came past them including the yellow Jersey of course we’ve seen tibo nce do this to Emanuel Bookman and Diego alisi when he won his first of two stages but today it was wal Po’s doing it the Dutchman for bahin Victoria showing everyone a clean pair of wheels up to the final finish line in this tour to Hungary that was the stage result polls from hon Bookman nice and Frank vandenbrook coming back well at the end there too and that was our Podium for the general classification the yellow Jersey taken by TBO nce what a start to the season he has had he’s the winner of the tour to Hungary ahead of Emmanuel Bookman and wal PS [Music] [Music]
