Öhringen is a wonderful town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany – well off the tourist route! It is a walled town with half timbered houses and large open green spaces. Öhringen is a wonderful place for a day or two!

I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

hello and welcome I have just spent the night at this place here this is iringan iringan is approximately 35 km approximately uh from hbr it’s a bit quick if you go by bicycle I think and this is the car park where I spent the night now it’s about 6:30 in the morning now so I should have really have done this video an hour ago and uh when it was really super quiet and the birds were really loud the birds are getting a bit quieter and the cars are getting a bit noisier but I spent the night in this car park here and uh today is the 30th of April uh 2024 and super quiet night now some on park for night said about the road and and um now the road is a little noisy now that isn’t but we I couldn’t hear it at all didn’t hear it um it was quite quiet as far as I was concerned uh but um if it hadn’t been for park for night I wouldn’t have ended up coming here at all and now what I’ll show you it is a paid parking but it’s not paid overnight so I think it’s free from 1,800 hours until at 8 or 8:30 in the following morning something like like that and then I think it’s €4 for the day or something along those lines 6 an hour is 50 c and uh oh sorry 5 for the day there you go so um and uh and you can park with an app as well should you having want to having said that I went out for a walk last night and this is an incredibly attractive place to be and walking these old streets um with it the the um half timbered buildings so there we have part of the uh I well City wall not quite a walled city or a wall town but um um we’ve got the the stream down here the church um rang out uh every 15 minutes that might put somebody off but I mean you’ve got to be really light sleeper I think it’s very difficult to judge what people um what’s suitable for some people there’s my vehicle the car spaces aren’t always big enough so I always look for a place I get the overhang to overhang and um here’s a nice view oh cuz the sun’s in the way can’t quite see it but um in the evening I thought it was really good even so not not so bad now is it either here we have this uh stream there see the other side as well and when I got here I was really I was really tired cuz the previous day I got up I don’t know why but I couldn’t sleep I was up at 2:30 something ridiculous and so by the time I got here I was exhausted so I went out for my walk had something to eat and then and also I didn’t fasted for over about 28 hours and then uh I went to sleep I planned on going out again in the evening but um that was it was it was fantastic that really appealed to me um and uh there we have a don’t know what this thing here is any some plague thing here so you can turn the thing up there and then the cork screw goes into the uh into the river there may be some game where I don’t know I noticed the bridge was pretty muddy yesterday maybe it’s something for the kids and um and this will located a bit better so there you see hbr 29 but that’s by bike so it’s it’s quicker than by uh motor way and um there some the other places uh Railway station’s a kilometer right uh Shish H Shish H sorry uh 31 kilm so this is B venburg and um which there’s iring and Alat the old town uh which is 300 M from here so we’ll have a little look at this as well and uh in fact I’ll have a little look at it in another video um trying to show um how not just to show you where I stay and sort of places that appeal to me but um it was I think the location is absolutely superb there were five locations offered or five or six in park for night this one was probably this is this closest to the town center I always look at the town center location last I Lu look at the one furthest away first there are problems you can find something with Town Center locations uh such as young people making a racket at night and this is regretfully very very common so I always look for places which are a bit further out which I like to be less less popular with those reers who might stay up until 3:00 in the morning this is particularly a problem on Friday and Saturday nights uh if you’re out in your van so anyway today’s a Tuesday so Monday night there’s fewer revelers but of of of those that were offered on park for night this seem so so attractive to me as a location so that’s why I chose it and uh but this type of thing to me this this architecture I find it so so attractive and it’s got a large part of the uh the inner part of the town is um pedestrians only so there we have an the Old Town Hall it’s so 20 to7 now in the morning actually by German standards it’s getting late you know you can’t find these wonderful gems now I’ve been staying in hbr for some time I’m working with a company in hbr and so uh I go there quite often because of what I’m doing not quite often twice a year that’s quite often my my standards and um the uh result of this is that uh I do I am seeing a fair bit of hbr uh now um hbr is a wine producing town with a long history behind it unfortunately it lost a lot of its character because of uh what happened during the second world war on the night of the third the 4th of December 1944 it was firebomb destroyed and and rebuild quickly so I was doing some research and it saw I saw what it looked like before the firebombing and really attractive with this type of building these um half timbered buildings so but all destroyed and as a result this um it lost its character and here though we see we’ve got these buildings here which uh which are survived to to Modern Times um I’m unable to say how old they are to Me Maybe 17th century but that isn’t this wonderful and coming through here in the evening and there was this lots of people around I thought ah it’s prity I was alone I thought could go to a place like this and then just sat out in the sun wonderful warm weather last night and look at this building at this the overhang and uh there’s the date 1696 so I was right on the age so Hof means Court um could refer to the where the um Barons used to live or something like that and this amazing so outstanding and that these old names like H H is a deer H Apper the the the deer chemist and um uh that to me like called like when I see places called the Adler the e and uh so this completely off the tourist map and uh you know I even said to somebody in hbr I was I wasn’t going ining and and the person didn’t know where it was they’re locals so that’s the noise you’ve got every 15 minutes it’s a cigarette machine don’t don’t I can’t I remember them in the UK as a child I can’t remember them uh being around oh I haven’t seen one of them for except out of Germany for ages see other streets as well isn’t this amazing oh down there we’ve got a city like like a gate into the City and come come down here ought to do a longer video on this I’m going to do a history video on it and um so I did a bit of research and so I found things that happened in the National Socialist period which I’m going to uh do a video on but uh how how about this isn’t this outstanding and this is thanks to the motor home thanks to park for night which it brought it that location to me and um fantastic I hope this uh my excitement about being in places like this can somewhat come across uh for for other other people as well there are Kish gasa the Church Street or Church Lane I think I better Translate of gas is and uh here I think is called The Market Square this one no it doesn’t post um oh no Cafe I’m marked there you are walk down here there’s some really fantastic places in German most fantastic places everywhere I think but um Germany has a very negative balance on tourism uh when I was students still and that’s going back now and getting on for 40 years now uh it was 9 to1 uh so every nine marks that left one came back there we go they built in 176 hello and there’s the church so i’ have told you a bit about the the older history of iringan in this video had I actually known it but uh I you know I do know about the Nazi period but I didn’t really think it was suitable in a video of this nature and um so uh I didn’t discuss that but if you’re interested you can see my history site a link to which uh will be below although this video will go up long before the uh uh the the history video on the town actually goes up so that’s uh Rat house is the um Town Hall today from here I’m going to nurburg I had planned this route to do go back uh to Poland planned it in January so it’s now April but as I had to my mother got ill end up in the United Kingdom and so upset my plan so I stayed with her for a couple of months nearly and uh instead of being here in uh February or end of February as planned I’m here in the end of April but anyway never mind so there we go and uh so this is me in iringan h b verenor signing out so thanks for watching hope you found it interesting and I hope that’s giv you some inspiration to actually visit so by for now
