I think the future of Amazon is really reliant upon the modes of transportation that we use. Working in one of the largest cities in the world, congestion can always be an issue. At DAB5, it’s not just vans, we also use e-bikes. I’m Jay Gordon, the OTR (on the road) Ops manager here at DAB5 and today we’re going to show you a little bit about our e-bike pilot. Let’s go check it out. The lifecycle of a package usually starts during sort. It’ll get picked and staged onto a cart, that’s when it’s ready for the delivery associate to come pick it up. The routes are kind of put together based on how close the addresses are to each other. The DSP (Delivery Service Provider) associate, Vaughn, will be traveling about one and a half miles out to make his deliveries today. I’ve done a lot of deliveries for other companies before in the city, and I say this is one of the best I’ve ever done. The bike with the trailer is just fun to ride. The e-bikes allow access to tighter streets, and also lessen the carbon footprint. About five run each day, each holding about 120 packages. I do live nearby, so this is how I actually get my deliveries. The e-bike pilot started here in March of 2023 with just five delivery associates. Each of them were able to take 70 packages per route, three times a day. We’ve improved that and worked hard to get it to 120 packages per route, only twice a day. In the future, we’re looking to expand more throughout New York City.

    1. Idk maybe im not getting enough information on this and sound ignorant. But delivering packages on a bike in these times sound like a recipe for disaster.

    2. They should get the electric scooters that are being used in India if not mistaken or some part of Europe they using that even Jeff bezos had it promoted would be more useful in New York City as well

    3. I’ve been delivering for Amazon since 2019, and I’ve switched to 5 different DSP groups by now and it makes a HUGE, DRASTIC, BIG difference on how being an amazon delivery driver is bc DPS group leaders are the KEY to how chill or HELLISH your day to day working there will be… out of my 5 different DSP groups 2 were AWESOME!! 1 was OKAY, and the other 2 sucked absolute ass. Major favoritism, unorganized and poor communication. The job is already physically and mentally hard enough with 200 stops/300 packages a day, not counting the hot weather and cold ass winters and hard raining days!!!

Choose the DSP you join wisely!!!❤
