I always wanted to visit the seaside Town of Horden in Northeast of England. It has the most cheapest properties in UK. I wanted to know what is the reason behind , why is so cheap.

It is one of northeast town. It is 277 miles away from London. I took my motor bike BMW R1200GS and rode all the way up. It took me 7 Hours to arrive in Hartlepool neighbouring Town or city.

Horden is an Ex mining village. It was shut down in 1987. It had 4000 employees at its peak of operation. It produced 1.5 million tons of coal in year. It set a record for single day productions.

Imagine the village once upon of time full miners living happily with their family and enjoying life. When the pit shut down the whole community shuttered and broken. As the statue of Mara described the closure like removing the heart from the village and resulted in dying the entire village.

Streets have got weird names like first street , seconds, third … up to thirteenth street. All houses are in terraced. They almost all abandoned , vandalised, rotten, neglected and forgotten, It is absolutely scary and frightening walking in entire neighbourhood.

It looks like the entire area has got bad reputation and suffers from vandalism since the miners left. The locals I had chat with them are all friendly and keen to communicate and share their views as you watch the video. They are absolutely warm and welcoming people.
It is very sad to see these area left abandoned. In London we are facing a sever shortage of houses however in North there are plenty properties but no one want to live and sadly left to die.

    Enjoy the video
    thanks

the day that closed the pit that’s when this place that’s when it died go down there it wasn’t just a pit that it wasn’t just a pit that died it was the whole community community in the park got the miner with his heart R out by that’s how feel the people still same still the people they are suffering from that kind of thing yeah look at this as the mine shut down in 1987 the population shrank declined now it lost half of its population now just completely look at this it’s absolutely appalling it’s absolutely completely look at this there’s no windows look at this the wind is gone nothing in Harden and keep away from that area a lot of prejudice hello welcome to the channel this is David I decided to go to Holden this it’s a town or Village in northeast of England next to the North Sea it is about 272 M away 44 3 km from London it’s going to take me around 7ish hours to reach that town I decided not to go by train is going to cost a hell a lot of money so I decided to go to with my motorbike with this monster and gigantic 1200 GS BMW so sit back and enjoy the video Let’s Go [Music] [Applause] [Music] so this is Hardley pool the town which is very close to holdon all right this is my hotel braon Bon guest house okay so I’ve arrived at my hotel right now let’s check in okay green and tidy so I paid 40 quid so this is my room number 10 and the bathroom is separate so this is the shower and this the toilet and there the Basin so very nice clean tidy I love it and this is my room look at this beautiful picture on the wall I love it and there’s some tea coffee and TV over there there’s okay um so we’re going to stay overnight over here and um tomorrow morning we’re going to be leaving the hotel and going to the training station and catch a train to hen and explore the Horden City or Village okay all right then I will see you tomorrow morning good night good morning and welcome back to the channel um I just had my breakfast and we will make our way towards the training session to continue the journey so let’s go I’m at the hardly pool now so I’m going to grab a ticket now okay let’s Crouch a ticket to hello sir I would like to go to H sing uh return so 5:30 uh go and return yeah yeah okay and I can return at any time today okay thank you thank you very much sir have you been to Holden sir how do you describe hold want to say oh right see that’s a very good description sir thank you all right I got to okay I grab my ticket to holding come back to over here for 5 quit for 520 that’s not prod so let’s get going welcome to hen I came to hen because this town has suffered catastrophically since the mine closure in 1987 so I came here to explore this town and I hope I can manage to speak with some locals some residents who are living here that they can tell me what life look like in this town the town which has got Once Upon a Time 15,000 residents and now the population dropped dramatically and shrank to below 7,000 people Bon is an X mine Village or town it started during 1900 during 20th century it was operating sadly in 1987 it was shut down and this mine or this industry at a peak time it employed 4,000 people 4,000 employees and also it broke the record of a single day production of coal in a single day but however the village history goes back to 11th century it was the first time the name of the hon appeared as the mine shut down in 1987 the population shrank declined now now at last half of its population as the population declined the services also declined and diminished from the town this town or this Village used to have Cinemas used to have football pitches rugby pillages and Gulf pitches all these sport pitches was in this town unfortunately is all gone and diminished de the day that closed the pit that’s when this place that’s when it died go down it wasn’t just the pit that it wasn’t just a pit that died it was the whole community community but now as the years has gone by God the houses down there’s gone derel in a mess you only have to look along the back streets so here we go this is the statue of a man a minor his name was Mara and it was unveiled in 2015 and also it it is the symbol of the coal miners across the country in a Grand National level so his name was Mara and also it says Mara there Statue commemorates the proud mining Heritage of hon and it was unveiled by a group of hen oldest living miners it was unveiled in 2015 and also it says that it is dedicated to the co Miner of Holden tall dark pit and seam whose fortitude and indomitable Spirit fueled the industry of Great Britain also on a personal label this is the statue that his heart was ripped out or his heart thrown out or his heart removed this is the representation or illustration of the struggle the suffer and the sacrifice that all miners went through when the pit was closed imagine that if we can see that this mine or this pit was the heart of this community and if the heart was hit badly of course the survival was very unlikely that’s exactly happened in the park got the miner with his heart R out by that’s how feel the people still same still the people they are suffering from that kind of thing yeah so the cers the workforce was working over there making money and coming and spending lovely time with their families and imagine that the coal manine shut down the whole Community was thrown apart their heart was thrown away the hard was removed and all of these work miners didn’t have no place to work because the they were highly skilled workers and all the miners across the country they had the same fortune that opportunity or to do things like that a lot of people that left went the left the pit well they knew nothing else but pit work my my jacket you know it’s they didn’t they didn’t they didn’t have any they didn’t have any other skills no no no AP part of working in a mine cuz working down the mines was was you know different to working anywhere else yeah I was Apprentice all of these miners during the Tater government the co mine they all shut down they all they hate it you know they hate they hate the name they still can’t talk about around here the co 20 hours down 20 years all right oh how old were you did you start working over there I I left school when I was 16 okay uh I left school on the Friday and I went down to harden Cy down the down the pits I start work on the Monday oh oh them all change now oh yeah used to be used to be lovely he you know it is yeah that used to be the pit baths was built on there okay yeah when you used to go in there and get your your showers and stuff used to be uh a a roadway above the road like a bridge you used to come across out the showers yeah across that road there and down here in a big tunnel to get to the shafts to go on we’re on a big tower with a r on okay 2,000 ft down 3,000 ft down one went down one went up like that two wheels together one up it you know even in this never used to happen in this park sit and drink alcohol or sit and smoke drugs and it’s you kind of you know it’s it’s get it’s it’s got hair has got worse year on year on year on year and nobody wants to live here yeah yeah it’s a sh yeah it is it is yeah yes when they closed it they didn’t fetch anything out all the all the all the equipment all the generators all the uh all the tools all just left left behind and be it and just filled the shaft in that’s it you know what I mean now just completely look at this it’s absolutely appalling it’s absolutely completely look at this there’s no windows look at this the window’s gone look at [Music] this just abandoned just derated just completely neglected forgotten and nobody is willing to move in but from ourside I I can see that there’s nothing is wrong with it but I know from inside would be some really does need some sort of work but however why [Music] why smashed vandalized rotten completely imagine that if you can walk at night time at this places look at this I like this bluish door over there and look at this a curtain very nice curtain H look at this look it’s just look at this the blue one [Music] it’s just houses by houses by houses just scary it’s just frightening to be honest look at this this another [Music] one believe me it’s just I’ve never ever seen anywhere in UK so far as bad as Holden look at this look at the pile look at this piles of rubbish it’s all B up look look at this there’s no [Music] windows there’s not only one property is this just Street by Street by Street of these properties all of these houses are just abandoned it’s just completely Left Behind love this houses 1 2 3 4 5 six houses all of them in one row it’s just booted up it’s just metal bars fake Windows fake doors look people come from all over and we’ve got a lot of drug addicts along there so it’s a bad area is it it’s a bad area now there mainly oh right see and no employment for them but we’ve still got some original people who live there who worked at the mines and they bought the houses and they have to live among that oh I see nothing in Harden and keep away from that area a lot of prejudice imagine this in London we have got a high employment but there’s lack of properties in London shortage of properties and that’s why the price of the property is going crazy in London to about million pound in some certain areas but he completely abandoned and neglected and nobody wants to live it was quite a decent Village exactly yeah until by Bas until the M’s closed and then you had P just leaving and all the houses might actually see what happened to yeah yeah just won over there it’s funny because all these streets here there’s been plans for got since I was a kid you hear about it oh this is going to happen to them 6 million funding here 10 million fund there this and nothing I’ve gots done with them they just see them just left just abandon yeah just get left all of these houses on the these Terrace houses belongs to housing associations and they are trying to sell on the open market that nobody wants to buy them nobody wants to refurbish them nobody wants to live in there and uh even the council is not bothered at all to purchase these properties they are saying is not worth it to invest the money in these houses like I say it used to be thriving years ago it’s just over the years just declining is it we waiting for investment cuz this area it hasn’t been done for like years we got a train station in recently yeah yeah yeah I’ve seen them I just the train station so but um like I say we still AR waiting for houses to get done up it’s just waiting for funding from the government unemployment but like lately it’s calmed down it’s not as bad as what it used to be oh I see okay if you want to become a property investor so welcome to Holden and welcome to the cheapest properties in UK you can go to the auctions the building is starting these to be them terorist houses over here for £5,000 and I’m sure that you are not going to pay more than 20 or 30,000 and you’re going to get a house in UK and the town of hon [Music] look at this there’s another convenience store over here all abundant Left Behind there’s nothing is going on this is the North Sea and the sea is very rough and very windy day today and that side is the mainland Europe I’m ending the video at the beach of hon I hope you like the video if you did Smash the Thumbs Up And subscribe the Channel please do not forget to drop your thoughts your comments your experience in any town of UK love to read 1. All these coal mines closed down by Thatcher government during her premiership and sadly most miners suffered so badly. She left a big scar in some cities like Horden

    2. Only a fool from down south would buy one of those properties at auction. As soon as you leave it empty after renovation works begin it will be vandalised and burgled.
It needs a large government investment and to be renovated on mass. It definitely has potential but needs a government with vision.
