Garlic Fest and Fragrance

A Marc Pearce route and a very rewarding one too. Starting at Gateford and taking trails to the Chesterfield Canal. One of the most beautiful parts of the canal with the lots of vegetation. Taking in Hawks wood and Old Spring wood before embarking on my first visit to Anston Stone woods. Garlic everywhere and the smell was heaven. Some beautiful trail in the wood with a lovely stream running through. Heading back to go through the lovely Lindrick golf course and then back to Gateford About 12 miles and 2 hrs with stops

down [Music] ah hello I back to gateford today um stop in to works up it’s a uh Mar Pierce ride it’s solo today it’s not very many miles 12:30 miles um had a bit of time and I thought you know what I just uh head out on the Boardman today and then when I finish this uh going to drop off at uh Doncaster um what’s it called now can’t remember what it’s called cycle Supreme that’s it and get the white bike fixed um what has been his storage brakes have all seized up and there you know what so uh yeah so I’m looking forward to this ride never been around here before and uh see what awaits I’ve noticed in Doncaster as well these uh new hous in stat and there’s lots of them they all seem to be having little paths around them which is very very nice and I need to explore some of them too see where they all go another one down we all road goes around and around the uh the the the River or the canal C remember now green bin in way God oh sh that’s it that’s it that F he well it’s pretty warm today Don it has got his shorts on but I say it’s pretty warm I think it’s about 15° had a bit of a warm spell in May I’m sucking to me so guess shots there I know I’m not on the ebike so I’ll be burning uh muscles will be working so I thought you know I’m going to get War so get shorts on put [Music] theart it’s good to be back outside nice Fields trees Greenery that’s just what I needed I’m taking the bridal away now to sh Oaks I do believe it’s one of these where the satin Al has a um across um over and if I go wrong way and the roote is a bit ruined it’s uh see we go to dick you fit at a moment get all this green of it beautiful grass is all look got to love spring but probably into late spring mid to late spring now love it HED R are just finishing off the blossom they still smell all the fragrance out here it’s great Railway Bridge of we little Bond that’s nice and see tranquil surroundings little Bridge there bliff go range Turnal wood they cool what we got here then another Bridge Ohr eback is a bloody booger oh on can Allway all right cool this is taking me all right I’ve been here oh yeah beautiful the chi Canal that’s cool botom Mark well impressed buddy well impressed I think sometimes when I’m mapping these rides I don’t have I don’t have the satellites I just have the map view which is very much blank with just roads on you can’t see out didn’t even notice the canal in here oh God you can smell like garlic look that garlic here oh Jee you know what that means everybody Dy time at that beautiful oh smell It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year should I have then oh that big baby at that big baby oh God beautiful beautiful o oh look at these little golden retrievers hello oh this garlic beautiful oh smell of it and the taste of it love it go that these are massive leaves as well aren’t they get it all storming beautiful just beautiful oh gosh water running down do you know what it’s beautiful actually I forgot well I knew how wonderful the Chesterfield Canal was for this stretch but God re-energized oh with water it’s just beautiful at this hedge look at this hedge it’s still Square I think Square it’s like a rhombus beautiful uh T Street over here I don’t oh anyway look cool I’m just looking at this uh lock I know the F Bo we just just good to mind n man no n man no he love it in here cuz it’s a narrow oh look at swans over there swans are nesting everybody it’s got a bit not too close but we’ll have a look Swan nesting do you know what that’s when I love a nested it like some an a blood Ling huge a It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year everything it just comes to life does it and you got life rejuvenated there with the the eggs a brilliant oh this this beautiful is it all water so somebody has created this with an eye for beauty it’s just lovely a it yeah it’s my day coming here we’ve left the canal across the bridge and entered this wood wooded area oh smells are fantastic some muchat scent lots of garlic you know that freshness it’s just beautiful where switcher in even more garet look at all this it’s lovely smells just absolutely amazing you never witnessed getting s down to some rber Falls walk around the flash lots of garlic there be out now beautiful the fragrance the smells The Taste bit in a scent don’t want much on GoPro then again don’t want much from here oh Jesus you’re not used to it anyway look like got burn out work out even oh bit we downhill sure get out ow Fab Fab Fab Fab Fab Fab Fab Fab I just can’t get over how beautiful all this is all that it so pleased I come to there how pleased all right let’s see where we go now then it must be a left so oh back on the canal cool my chicken you know don’t know bit of a bendy thing get going D so so this thing’s like lighter than a bloody paper airplane at times oh God it’s nice getting you back used to it though bit of exhilaration then you want ebite which is like massive you just feel like you’re inside a tank you’re indestructible obviously you’re not but uh that type of feeling you can Hunker most things the B just Tex the punishment I’ll tell you what on here it’s pretty dry I mean it’s relative small pockets of mud but pretty cool I don’t really want to get mudded up got my shorts on today I don’t want to get lacky the C way Kon parts to show I’ve done that before so North hon rway okay ooh Railway Crossing interesting get cross here so we crossed the ra8 through a little bit of the remaining Woodland and now into the Open Fields oh gross Jesus you know what I just feel like getting off and walking that’s how bad I am no I’m going to per here good old Percy get up here temp me down no [Music] rush a nice steady little climb all the cereals out now look all growing beautiful around here Trail’s very dry yep happy days and there’s the Boardman ready for the clean he will get one don’t know when ni Bridal way down to our M residential area I think after that little Ascent This breeze is very very uh refreshing and welcoming I think this Texas tip road um take it over there so we’re coming to some built area now so so on Sheffield Road and uh we’re looking for a left turn and I think he’s here in the woods which is fine and dandy pretty promising y that’s what we’re after excellent oh beautiful way is this going then more garlic excellent blue bells excellent Nettles Rambles not so excellent especially when they got bloody and I’ve got uh shorts on legs little white legs are getting ripped it’s a very inter mirander in uh single tra this so lots of dead leaves on it so you never know what the hell o you going to get one thing I have noticed with this bike I don’t know it’s the lightness of it or the tires tread but grip is nowhere near as good as Eevee so that’s leaving me a bit won’t say anxious but a bit cautious but the garlic cheers me up yeah baby get it all cuz I’m a secret wild g e wild e the hell’s this going now I wrong way here go here I could go down there but not sure if I was blocking it says down there donad come on go for it there a ly tree oh Wild Garlic let momentum set me oh Christ F FK in the road FK in the road Mark which way do I go be nice to know it could have come just bombing it God brought me on this tranquil little path next to the stream oh there we got you this is nice yeah so some lovely lovely Woodland paths by the stream oh Christ Christ oh my knee Shin bollocks that is not what you call a bunny up anyway here I can carpet carpet of garlic keep putting these bloody trees here don’t they we got a little Bridge here I think we go over it I don’t know what this wood is called I look when I get back enjoying it though enjoying it remember watching uh many years ago James Martin he was on a Saturday morning Cooke program and he got some fish and he’ wrapped it up in these wild garlic leaves and he was saying all the time that year for wild garlic blah blah blah blah blah but I can’t tell you where my secret stash is secret stash a lot of bloody guys it’s all over but it’s beautiful I’ve noticed as well it’s in between some of the white bells and blue bells which is lovely as [Applause] well hello we just come up here three lovely ladies doing a walk as them what this place is called anston Stones so we’re not going through there bit too bit too inclined go this way bit more flatter flatter believe we’re going we do go into this tunnel okay I do believe also there’s a bit of an elevation Christ turbo D wrong not an elevation flat oh we need some bloody dinosaurs to pop through at my day y e territory bet this is nice to come down definitely eie territory oh sorry Dar thank you this is a more gentle side to it very odly worldly feeling in here as well there all the uh clim Stone formations so light in the groove it all part of me thinks it’s an Old Railway line but I’m not sure I don’t think it is I know it’s very gentle this very nice the trees just growing out the Limestone amazing look at this cool cool cool cool all right so we got upstairs oh we got the more adventurous side route I think done lot we’re going to go for stairs we’re going to head right down to the bottom of the uh the valley I think let’s give this a wheel oh sorry guys there’s a tree across there oh is there nearly 60 and want some adrenaline I do o I think these are a bit bit too high now well I I’ve have my buzz foot day now do go a bridge here looks nice it looks nice looks nice looks nice I think we do think we go over the bridge think all right so it is the anston Stonewood and there was a railway the line from bran Cliff Junction near turn of wood to dinon was opened second of OCT 1905 long the shrock’s passenger service started first December 1910 very nice very very very very very nice oh just come out of this layby little uh truck for us oh do oh do look at all this wild garlic mustard very nice see what this is like a l pushing action pushing action have a look here then I like these little single tracks are Qui windy intricate it’s nice you never know what’s right corner always a surprise is on to this Bridal way it’s right on the edge of the fields now Golf Course lry golf course things back take my when he was on am circuit before he turn pro beautiful course at Limer let’s enjoy those summer days walking around that’s a few years ago yes I did enjoy limmerick I find it a beautiful place it’s a beautiful course and really nice people in club out so we got to cross the road L at golf course which from I remember there was a tunnel you should walk under the road very nice very very very nice there was something just about like walking around golf courses not playing just walking and watching the ability of these amateures is exceptional yeah nice then again think riding trth is just as nice if not better so walk some bloody miles on those days we are Josh yeah do we call Play We this particular number number four we can’t see on there but uh I think there’s a marshall down here I just messaged our Josh telling me all about it no doubt anyway I’ll answer that call when I get down here but uh ah [Music] oh great Donnie great Donnie you should have gone through the gate yeah I thought I’d walk up here actually taking all the garlic and yes his message read i’ recognize that hole anywhere just played it enough times oh beautiful here dear some Woodland area someone’s Woodland area so just leaving that Woodland area the forest forest C course CH just into openness again it’s such a short well not a short rout it’s long enough for me on this but um so much variation I don’t think I’ve said it cuz I just held back but Mark another great Trail mate another great route for donad um very very happy with this and particularly the wild garlic being out as well just made it for me oh B speed wobble yeah hello coming look out he’s not he’s he’s not coming that quick he’s he’s going pretty been pretty slow been pretty slow hello all right so we’re heading back to uh gateford now I think just looked at quick statistics on straa it’s about 12 miles just short just bit over and it’s about 2 hours um traveling time um but I took lots of photographs and had a rested at lots of garlic so Happy Days oh yeah so Mark that’s an excellent trail that buddy enjoyed that one um The Garlic topped it off I enjoy the uh the Woodland uh areas and I particularly enjoy the going back to the canal that was excellent and then Anon um Stone Woods which again all like garlic beautiful U the Limestone and I’m finishing it off around L golf
