Sign up for Sustrans Active School Travel Programme which is available to all schools in Northern Ireland and includes on-road cycle training for pupils.
It’s fun, dynamic and will enhance children’s road safety skills while allowing them to travel actively to school. Children receive certificates in National Standard 1 & 2 cycle training giving them skills for life.

[Music] as part of the active school travel program and Susteren delivers at national standard cycle training in schools the level one is playground best it helps the kids plan journeys vfc become more confident on on their bikes and level two then as I on quiet residential streets we have lured the kids who cycle to school every day and it’s really useful if we can give them the skills to do that more simply by for this national cycling training and gives me a greater confidence that the kids are going to get the right skills of the right level for them and the fact that the trainer is there who is skilled in that means that they’re gonna know what they’re doing more than if it was just me or another teacher taking them right around school because and I love going on my bike and only I can you go on my skier and I would like to call the roads but sometimes there’s cars coming in and I’d like to know how to do it safely what we aim to do what we hope to do is when the the finished have gained more confidence but they understand how to ride their bikes safely on the road working in with other traffic as well by participating in the national sounder cycle trainin pupils children can develop their confidence they can become more independent when they’re out in a bite they can be more active on the way to school and on their school run because they have that little bit more experience that more independence and bit more confidence [Music] you [Music]
