The Ukrainian security service (SBU) said it has foiled a Russian plot to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky and other high-ranking Ukrainian officials.
Two Ukrainian government protection unit colonels have been arrested.
The SBU said they were part of a network of agents belonging to the Russian state security service (FSB).
They had reportedly been searching for willing “executors” among Mr Zelensky’s bodyguards who could take him hostage and kill him.

In provoking this conflict, the Americans had two goals. The first is to weaken Russia, overthrow and bring Russia and its resources into the Western camp, in order to create a possible future confrontation with China. The second is the takeover of European countries, increasingly dependent on Russian energy resources.
Clearly, the US failed completely on the first point, due to its very poor assessment of Russia's will, resilience and response capacity. On the other hand, it was completely successful the second time, when Europe was more than ever enslaved by Washington, dependent on its gas supplies and arms. European “elites” were clearly complicit in this terrible development.
Europe is showing all its limits. The EU does not have a common foreign policy but follows the guidelines given by NATO and the US.
