Downhill Mountain Biking with James and Amber in Vence, France – GoPro!

Amber the Downhill Dog and James mountain biking in Vence, France in June 2013. Watch Amber having a swim in France https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-0dTtmfcKg

Found some nice trails in the local woods when we were out in France. Actually quite rocky for a 100mm bike like my Transition Double, but still fun thrashing around on a mountain bike with Amber the Vizsla… Filmed on my GoPro 2. Amber is a Hungarian Vizsla. She loves chasing me on my mountain bike.

I tried some reverse footage but I think my GoPro may be due for replacement as I lost most of the footage I had, this is made from what was left.

    1. Thanks. This was a long trip to France so took the bike and Amber and we found some local trails, such nice trails as well, but rocky as anything. Would get at least one puncture a ride and broke the rear wheel there! 🙂 The video doesn't show just how rough it was on a 100mm bike! 🙂

    2. Hey! THanks. Yes it's been too long. Work took over and then we had the worst broadband on earth in France so literally could not upload this video, it was saying it would take a week!!! ROLF!! More to come with the new bike!!! 🙂

    3. Thanks so much! Yes, we had a great time, Amber just loves it, although some days it was just too hot and she wasn't up for running around so I just let her wonder down at her own pace, that's why she doesn't feature so much… 🙁

    4. Oh nice!!! That's a DH monster! 🙂 That's going to be a loooong 2 months! Good luck mate!!! Look forward to seeing it!! I've got a Specialized Stumpjumper Expert Evo Carbon. It's blown my mind, always thought I could only get something that plush and capable with a DH bike or something like my TR250 but wow, this is a whole new level, super light, amazing handling, loves big air and it's quick, sooo quick. Actually scared myself the other day with the speed and that's a first!! 🙂

    5. Dude you should get the GoPro Hero 3 Black, I have one and the quality is amazing. I just need to get better at biking now to get some better videos. How long have you been riding?

    6. I have a Vizsla too, he is 9 months, I can´t do that, i try it but he goes away. why this video in 720p is so poor? Good work, love Amber 🙂

    7. Yes you finally uploaded!! XD worth the wait though 😛 Great vid!! The trails look really nice! does this mean more videos? 😀

    8. Yeah I've heard really good things about the stumpy's. What's the frame flex like? I've got an Uzzi (have a video on my channel) so if the M9 better than that, well, I can't wait!!!

    9. Thanks mate! I just couldn't upload this whilst in France as it was saying a week to upload with the terrible broadband we had there! LOL! Crazy!!! The trails were epic, this was down in the S of France, but back in the UK now so back to the usual trails here. Yes, more vids to come soon! 🙂

    10. I love France, the plan is to live there, but for now it's just visits. I ride Morzine quite a bit but the S of France was more challenging, rockier, hotter and even more epic scenery with the sea and snow capped mountains! Love the place!! 🙂

    11. Awesome, a 9 month old Vizsla…. so cute!!! They love running don't they! Not sure what happened to this video, it's not that good quality after recording it, I think my GoPro 2 is on the blink…. it's been crashed quite a bit so I think he may be due to retire and a GoPro 3 on the cards!!

    12. I'd love to get one but they're still pretty expensive and having a GoPro 2 already it's difficult to justify but I'll see!! 🙂 Been riding about 12 years probably now, started late in life, was useless on a bike as a kid then didn't ride until I was mid 20s but only gentle XC rides with mates, then about 9 years ago started trying to improve my jumps and stuff…. so I guess riding DH/freeride properly is around 7 to 8 years.

    13. I didn't start riding until my late 20s (a few years ago). I am a little bit hesitant to jump after I did a "hey, watch this!" jump and landed on a rock with my hip, lol. I did my first downhill biking about 2 months ago and it was awesome. You must be hauling ass because my videos look slower than yours and when I was riding it seemed pretty damn fast. According to my Garmin watch I think I maxed out at 21mph on my runs.

    14. Its a beautiful thing, I love riding makes me feel free I used to snowboard that gave me the same feeling and watching you with your dog the bond you two have, dont get much better happy days

    15. Ah thank you! Yes Amber's amazing, she's the best riding buddy that's for sure! 🙂 I love snowboarding too, shame Amber can't come with us when we go!! 🙂 You do feel so free riding, it's awesome. Thanks for watching!

    16. Cool, it's never to late to start! 🙂 I've recorded over 30mph in the UK and in Morzine we reckon some of the runs have got to be hitting 40mph or more!! It's pretty insane really… We were easily keeping up with cars on the road at one point! 🙂 It always feels and looks faster when you have trees close to you and you're running a GoPro in 720p due to the curve of the lens, but even so, crashing a bike at 20+mph hurts!!!

    17. Im going to France tomorow night. It's a 7 hour drive from my place (Holland)
Going to enjoy my holliday and try to get a other engine on my bike there.

    18. Hey James, what's the riding like in Vence, any recommendations, looks like I'll be heading there on a family trip for a week in April and should be able to get at least one full days riding in and maybe a few short ones, I have a choice of a 140mm AM or full DH but i'm suspecting the trail bike might be the order of the day, have ridden Swinley, Morzine, Wales, Scotland etc
