Jonas Vingegaard was back on his bike after a long on recovery from a severe crash in the Tour of the Basque Country earlier in the year.

I’m yonas wio and welcome to the cycling day yonas wio has been the best rider in the past years at the Tor front dominating his opposition and even dethroning tar gacha however in 2024 an unforeseen incident caused this whole season to be thrown into Jeopardy and in particular his defense of his torto France title many Cy fans fear that the dominating force of yonis spingo will never be seen again at the Tour of France anyways before before we start make sure to hit the like button subscribe to the channel here on the cying Dane and make sure to comment down below what do you think of being a go the 20 24 season began with optimism for not only yonis Bingo but also the team as they shifted from being team yma to team visma Lisa bike and their big star of recent years Primus Ro glitch had left the team to get out of the shadow of the evergrowing Superstar of yis fingle so the team was entirely focused now for the Third title for wingle the Dame began the year in a similar manner like his 2023 campaign heading to the Spanish race the oldr communo the first stage was an individual time trial however due to complications with the weather there was an apparent risk for the Riders so the organizers let the time trial go ahead as the weather became a bit better but annuled the GC timings so many riders went gently through the stage on the road bikes vingo did exactly this and despite finishing more than than 2 minutes down on the eventual winner of Josh taring it was wiped clean off his GC record and returned to Zero by the end of it the next stage Vis meisa bike set a ferocious charge for the Breakaway vingal nestled in the perfect position attacked the bunch with everyone scrambling to get on the Dan’s wheel Mingo looked around several times to gauge who was there one of which was egum Bal and with 1 km left of the final climb of the day on a very wet stage vingal blasted the Colombian off his back wheel and went on to win the stage and took the leader’s Jersey the next stage Ringo attacked hard on the final climb and none of the other Riders were able to match the Dane and he quickly called up to the Breakaway Riders and delivered a masterclass on the wet descent and managed to win the stage with a sizable margin the final stage was another bad weather day for the race but once again he managed to dispatch everyone on the final climb the last man being Lenny Martinez and thereby the Dane got his third victory of the race and claimed the overall tro atasco was next on the agenda a race that he was second place in in 2022 to a very dominant T of Catcher but this time around it was a very different Bingle stage one was the unveiling of the Monstrous time trial helmet but it didn’t seem to help Bingo enough to claim the win as he finished ninth but the big shift came on stage five where this Melissa bike once again again was trying to rip up the pelaton the Dane attacked on the final climb with 29 km from the finish and Myers to solo once again on The Descent and hold the margin all the way to the finish taking a 1 minute and 12 second lead it was almost a carbon copy on the next stage as once again on the final climb it was vingal who made the decisive attack and held off the chases extending his lead to 1 minute and 24 seconds which became the final classification as well as the final stage was a Sprint stage and thereby Bingle took the legendary tridon and added another world Tour onewe stage race to his palarz so vingo was definitely in High Spirits with two for two in terms of stage races in 2024 from two available was looking for the next challenge which was another race that he had won in 2023 and dominated in fact the tour of the bath country however there was a bit of a difference to the 2024 Edition as you would come up against not only Remco venol but also his former mentor and friend primas rage the opening time trial was another opportunity for that I saw of time trial helmet to be shown and Bingle managed to finish Fifth and sat nicely nestled in the GC battle the next two stages he stayed out of trouble and was in the front group but the turning point of the season for the Dane came on the very next stage with about 36 km from the finish on a descent the front end of the favorites group crashed hard to the ground as they were coming towards a turn multiple riders came down including Remco bipo rogl and Doris ble they were all badly hurt and the dramatic photo of vingle on the ground circulated cycling fans around the globe the cause for the crash seemed to be layered with a mix of the speed of the pelaton being a factor but mainly the poor Road surface which seemed to be very bumpy because of roots lingo abandoned the race and subsequently it was reported that he suffered a collapse lung broken ribs and a broken collar bone following the nasty crash he spent 12 days in the hospital before being discharged and it was more than a month before pictures and video emerged of him back training and here is what vingle had to say this is the first time back on the bike for me riding outside and it’s really nice to finally be able to to ride like normal again and and finally to be to be able to ride on the on the road is really amazing and uh yeah I’m really looking forward to taking the next steps as well I feel good uh yeah it’s improving day by day and yeah I still have some uh some some things to recover from but it’s going better and better of course I hope to to be there at the at the start of the to fronts uh we don’t know exactly how how my shape and how my recovery will go but uh I will do everything I can to to get there in in my top shape after the fact that Bingo’s Health was not in a critical condition the next thought for cycling fans around the world was whether we would ever see Bingo return to the lofty Heights that he had set himself in the Tour of France in recent times there have been Riders very badly affected by big crashes such as Egan Bernal when he crashed on a training ride in Colombia in 2022 or even Chris FR when he crashed in the 2019 Doan and both of these very traumatic incidents for the rider and we’ve never really seen both Riders on the same level however you could say that Burnell has really started to come back to his old form and has made a serious recovery since that crash but that has still taken several years before we’ve seen the same kind of Egon Bernal however other Riders such as Remco Veno went through another disastrous traumatic incident and that was the lombardia crash in 2012 20 and he somewhat managed to bounce back the following year despite a premature duralia debut for him but he did win races in 2021 including the tour of Denmark and we’ve all seen what he’s gone on to winning a world championship and the Welter espia the team and yores himself should not put too much pressure on seeing him at the Tour of France this year and putting that pressure on him and giving him enough time to recover seriously so we don’t see a shadow of him himself at the race and it doesn’t have unforeseen consequences on his form and I think the focus should probably be 2025 that is easy to say not being yis Wing or and a serious Champion like he is who wants to be competitive in all the biggest races and really win for his team but this Melissa bike really need to give him as much time and no pressure to get back and of course this milisa bike being one of the biggest and best teams in the world we can surely see this we hope it’s not going to end up like Chris room where his career goes downward but rather such as rcoo where he managed to recover and does even better however yis F despite not crashing a lot on the world tour he has been in a similar position in 2017 where he didn’t take part in many of the races as he broke his FEMA after a crash in the Tor of Fs in Norway so if he can come back from that he can certainly come back from this as well and be even stronger and get that third Toral France title that he so deserves anyways that’s basically it for this video make sure to let me know what you think of whether vingal should go to the tour France or not if he’s not 100% in form and make sure to subscribe to the channel hit the like button here on the cycling Dane and if you want to check out his rise into the world of cycling why not check out this video here or his first ever interview in English be sure to check that out but with that thank you very much for watching and of course I will see you around

    1. Physically he will likely be healed up by the TDF, but I have my doubts he can be at peak fitness. Comparing JV’s injuries to Froome and Bernal seems like a stretch, Jonas’s injuries, though serious, were not as catastrophic as the others. He will be back to form, maybe by the Vuelta.

    2. Jonas is among my favorites and I hope to see you back and at full power! Like Froome, when I broke my femur, I was never the same, but Jonas is a superhuman with much different wounds and I hope he can overcome.

    3. the injuries for Vingegaard were way way less serious than Froome and Bernal, breaking your ribs and colarbone isnt a fun thing but its not really serious for the rest of your carreer, but maybe only the tour will be not easy to make. btw, Bernal himself said he now has better numbers than before his crash, the competition just got better. so i think his carreer wont be at risk, but the Tour maybe yes.

    4. He can do it. He has the mental toughness and commitment to excellence mindset that will enable him to return to the level of fitness that has enabled him to excel at the top echelon on cycling. Go Jonas!

    5. I think he'll be back and strong next year. As long as he didn't permanently damage his lung, I think he'll get back to the same level.

    6. He'll be fine. I've had the same scenario and I'm better than I ever have been and I'm a 60 year old chump! He's a bad ass with all the best resources at his disposal so I say again, he'll be fine.

    7. Why wouldn't he be the same? It's not like he crashed like Froom or Bernal where he had Broken right femur, Broken patella, Broken ribs, Facial fractures, and Punctured lung. Let's go TDF!!!!!

    8. My medical knowledge is very poor, but I would imagine his collapsed lung might have implications when it comes to racing up mountains?

    9. From what I have read, Visma-LAB is not a team that pushes their riders to come back before they are ready. IMO, that means that Jonas will not ride the Tour unless he and the team feel he can do so competitively. In addition, Tadej Pogacar is tearing things up so why risk sending Jonas back too soon if he is not physically ready. IMHO, it might be better for Jonas and Visma-LAB to focus on other goals for the Tour and hold Jonas back for the Vuelta.

    10. It remains to be seen if he can come back as strong; physically and mentally. And, a lot of this relates to how severe his injuries were and the trauma to his body and soul. We've seen a number of injuries in the past, albeit much more severe for example Chris Froome, where the rider, despite incredible and inspirational efforts to comeback, just haven't produced the rider they once were pre-injury. I can't imagine what it takes to go through this, and I hope that not only Jonas but any riders recently suffering injury are able to return to 100% for their sake and our sport. But, history might suggest different.

    11. He will make a full recovery, his prognosis was nowhere near Bernal or Froome. It's only this season may not be on his level.

    12. (RECOVERY UPDATE) is the key in title. You gave a summary of his riding for the year, thus far. Go to the back of the class for detention.

    13. I like Vinegegaard, but no rah, rah from me. He was pounded in that crash. There will be a lot of pre$$ure on him to do the Tour, but I think, long term, it would be a mistake to take it on this year. Let the recovery be gradual, and, once he's clearly healed, do a late season race program that graduates in intensity. Continue through normal winter training, then come back in full form next season. Stage racing needs him to be competitive with Pogačar!

    14. He is a decent, shy and quiet guy from smalltown, Denmark. He does not take well to fame and fortune, or publicity. Perhaps he feels he has succeeded as a cyclist; but ruined his life as he knew it in other ways. If he wants to race because he loves it: bring it on! He's provided so much entertainment already and no doubt still fun to watch. And if he decides to hang up his bike, never to be heard from again, so be it, and we can all wish him well; and be thankful for the days we got to watch one of the greatest ever. Greetings from the USA.

    15. I really like Jonas and I would have loved to see the fight between him and Pog at the tour, especially the way he has been riding this year. But I don't think there's any chance he can fight for the victory. His injury this year is a lot worse than Tadej in 2023. Pogi was back on the rollers after only a week, it took Jonas almost a month. I don't think he should do the Tour, he wouldn't be able to compete against such high level for a full three weeks and he is even more likely to have not just one but multiple bad days like Tadej did last year. In my opinion he should fully recover and build up to the final part of the season.

    16. Unless there is a risk for Jonas long term health, I think that he should be at the tour. He has an amazing ability to recover in week 2 and 3, and kind of like Jan Ulrich in the past could bank on riding himself into form. Last year in the time trial it was evident that the relied on a lot of training as he was very precise in how he cut the turns, and there is no doubt that it will hurt him, but winning three in a row is too good to pass up.

    17. “Third TDF title that he deserves “? BOLLOCKS! No one “deserves” a TDF title. You have to win the title through hard work, not just deserts.
