I’m bikepacking across England from the most Westerly to Easterly points, Lands End in Cornwall to Lowestoft in Suffolk. Completely self supported and camping every night, the seventh episode follows me along the historic Ridgeway cycle route, believed to be Englands oldest road.

after packing up my wet camping gear after yet another rain storm overnight it was time to leave marlborough and head north east traveling through parts of berkshire and oxfordshire today’s route took me along the historic ridgeway believed to be britain’s oldest road before arriving in the small village of elswick just outside of ellsbury for my predominant night of the trip good morning again everyone so welcome to day seven of my lands then to lowest off coast to coast trip leaving marlborough at camp just outside my world called boston hill i think in the forest and by the forest commission it’s really nice uh campsite actually managed to get pizzas dinner last night which they do which is pretty good the first life of a meal i haven’t had out of a co-op or a one-stop for a while so that’s all good heavy rain again yesterday evening last night so temp has packed away all wet again unfortunately but hey ho so we’re heading north northeast uh from let’s say marlborough up to towards aylesbury buckinghamshire i think it is correct me if i’m wrong um should be about 65 70 miles against a slightly less than yesterday and then after that we’re on the home stretch monday’s gonna be a big day we’re gonna push on about 85 90 miles into suffolk and then the last day to oh and in the last day over to lifestyle which should be tuesday i think of course catch up with you later on [Music] it’s very gray [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so this is the ridgeway whatever by way is good for cycling of course the last bit is anything to go but i’m glad i took a lot of this out because i couldn’t go too much longer on there you don’t get much much progress unfortunately slow going [Music] [Music] so that was a bit of the ridgeway glad i took some of that out in the end because that’s really slow going good fun though probably not the best idea to do on a fully loaded bike packing bike but with a slightly less slightly lighter load then that’d be a good to do a bit more of that but for today i think that’s plenty and uh yeah glad to get back on some tarmac and uh get some miles on the road [Music] [Music] i’m really tired this afternoon keep yawning ever since i have my lunchtops up the subway and just today now it’s very tight i haven’t got my many miles left to go i’m gonna have an early finish again today which it’s probably worked out quite well i forgot my longest day i’ll be tomorrow so rest up feed up oh i’m in the wrong gear and attack tomorrow yeah i don’t know if it’s the weather just so as you can see behind me it’s just so grey drizzly [Music] he’s still on the ridgeway [Music] [Music] nice that someone’s done some fly tipping right in the middle of the ridgeway [Music] i’m loving this [Applause] [Music] the descent down off the ridge row was pretty epic and probably have to pedal for about 10 minutes after this it was a gentle ride into the campsite for a banquet of super noodles and pasta an early night ready for the longest hour trip tomorrow and my return to my home county [Music] foreign

    1. That looked like a bracing ride! Some great countryside on route though. What is the camera mount you use on the handlebars? Is it easy and quick to take off when you riding? JP
