On the first ever Kidical Mass in Coventry, the force was with us . . . Iona decided to dress as Baby Yoda for Star Wars Day (May the Fourth) 😀
From big cities to rural areas, Kidical Mass action is all about showing that children and young people should be able to move around safely and independently on foot and by bike. This was the first time a Kidical Mass Event has been put on in Coventry and it’s a big thanks to Ed, John & Kwok for making it happen as well as volunteers from Coventry CTC part of Cycling UK. We joined them as a family, including Ruth on the back of her Dad’s tandem!
Over 45 of us started our ride at Coventry Station with whistles tooting and music playing and headed into the city centre where we sailed past Coventry – Belgrade Theatre, Whittle Arches, Coventry Transport museum before ending up at Coventry Cathedral riding round and round Coventry University Square. We had great fun and cars and buses waiting for us enroute were all very friendly and supportive.
Of course, any ride needs a cafe stop, so we headed to the newly opened Baxter Baristas at Herbert Art Gallery for refuelling. Then, as everyone else headed home, Ewan and I decided to extend our ride with a jaunt out to Pumpkins Deli in Brinklow. We made good use of the Binley Cycle way to whisk us out of the city before heading on rather muddy bridlepaths from Binley to Brinklow.
Coffee and cake consumed while enjoying the sunshine in the park at the back of Pumpkins Deli, it was time to head back using quite country lanes, farm tracks and cycle routes by the River Sowe and Coventry Canal.

[Applause] today we took part in kittal mass in centry it was the first kyal mass in centry first one we’ve done now you probably wondering what on Earth is kittal mass it’s all about showing that young people need Safe Streets for them to cycle scoot whatever form of transport it might be on two wheels around their cities and towns and today in commentary that’s what we’re doing so at 9:30 we gathered by the station and cycled through part of the city center as a big group music playing some whistles going having a bit of fun it was great we got loads of support for the people um who are just standing taking photographs as we went by cars happily stopped for us but it’s all about just demonstrating that you know we want to make sure that for the future for our children we have Safe Streets for them to cycle on to get around on so we have a future is greener Safer travel for everybody and that’s what kittyo mass is all about today so come on a kittyo mass ride with us [Music] parents guard [Music] [Applause] oh [Applause] [Music] so we are off on kital mass we’ve left comy station and we’re now riding around comy city center it is all about the fact that we need safe accessible streets for our children to ride on here in cry and around the country as well there are kittyo rides like this all over the UK it’s great to be a part of saying we want to save streets for our children to [Music] cyclon we are getting to a bit of appreciate a bit of conscious sights and sounds as well though last week I got to few as well in the rain doing country half marathon so a bit of a change way of doing it today oh all [Music] oh [Music] absolutely amazing thank you CL so we have finished our ride through the city center finished by the cathedral now it’s time for some breakfast El regular hot chocolate we’ve enjoyed some nice breakfast at the newly opened backer Bri Herbert gallery and now you and I are going off for a bit of a ride on our own so go and explore outside of comry we are enjoying the fabulous Bly cycle way to head out of comy city center it’s great isn’t it Yan yeah we are wishing we had this from tile Hill into the city center make our lives a lot easier and safer but it’s great for getting out today [Music] [Music] [Music] we’ve just enjoyed our cake and coffee break bought from pumpkins Deli in brinklow and enjoyed in the sunshine in the park just by there time to head back into commentry now we’ll go a slightly different route find a different way back [Music] you ask to take your [Music] [Music] we’ve been on the gravel Trails again back from Brink CL past the back of Kum ABI we’re into commity Center Now by wsg hospital and we’re going to find the river s and cycle [Music] along we back into the city center now via centry Canal lovely green route into the city center past the old Court Halls building and all the other industrial sites of the old canal [Music] side thank you [Music] [Music] the end of cry Canal com Canal Basin we’re back in the city center now almost home [Music] [Music] hope you’ve enjoyed today’s little Adventure we’ll be going on back to our Park Adventures next week and we’ve got some Big Adventures planned for the summer as well which will our bikes so if You’ enjoyed today’s little Adventure do check out this one from one of our recent cycle tours otherwise subscribe and will’ll see you on a little bit soon bye [Music]

What route did you take to Brinklow? Looks predominantly off road….and safer than in front of Coombe Abbey!
