Tonight, we leave our National Parks behind and travel even further beyond the known world, into the far reaches of imagination. Welcome to another special edition of Parks Unseen: A Realm Beyond. I’m your host, Astrid. Whether you call them apparitions, ghosts, spirits, or poltergeists, a Paranormal encounter is the most-experienced otherworldly phenomenon of all. In our last special edition of Parks Unseen, we asked if you’d like to see a future episode devoted exclusively to the paranormal… You asked for it, and now, we deliver: the most terrifying paranormal clips caught on camera. Be careful what you wish for… When you think of a barber shop, you don’t think of it as the kind of place where mysterious or spooky things occur. Other than the occasional slip of the razor, or a scissor-happy stylist who goes too far with a “trim,” you typically know what to expect from a visit to the salon. But in California in 2010, this GQ Cuts was visited by someone – or something – who definitely isn’t their normal clientele… According to the salon’s owner, he had actually been a bit skeptical about installing cameras – but ended up being glad that he did. – “Aw shit, aww hell to the no. Hell no! Did you just–? Oh, shit. No, hell no. There’s some crazy shit going on up in there.” – “Calm down, there’s a client in the shop.” – “OK, I got it, that shit right there just moved! Just – aw, f*ck that.” – ASTRID: The entire thing spooked that guy so much, he walked right out of the salon, without any regard for his boss’s objections. Would you have done the same? This English couple is known as Lainey & Ben. After experiencing an alarming number of paranormal things in their home, they set up CCTV cameras all around the house, and started posting the footage online. See for yourself… One possible explanation came from a local news source: 42 skeletons had been found under a building site in their neighborhood while under construction, possibly dating back over a thousand years old. They have now fully embraced – and capitalized on – their uninvited “guest,” thanks to the overwhelming interest from their TikTok and YouTube followers. In 2022, this French woman and her two cats moved to a new flat. Almost immediately, strange things began to occur; when she came home from work, she noticed certain things were out of place and her cats were acting a bit erratically. Initially feeling more concerned for their safety than fearful of intruders, she installed a security camera to see what her cats were getting into while she was out. As it turns out, it wasn’t her cats she needed to worry about… The camera would often track movement in the apartment, but then nothing would be seen… except for this strange orb of light. Here one of the cats seems to be engaging with something we can’t see. When unsettling things started to happen while she was at home, the woman decided to keep the cameras on around the clock. She hoped to capture something on camera that might provide a reasonable explanation, but unfortunately, she’s had to accept the fact that whatever is terrorizing her cats is far beyond the realm of reason. (TV in background ) (agitated meowing) (agitated meowing) – Alright, so I’m sitting here playing “Rocket League” at the moment. Every time I’m here by myself… I swear this place is haunted, I’ve been f*cking around with Ouija boards and I was stupid enough to bloody invite demons to possess me and shit because I didn’t believe in it, but ever since then, every time I’m here by myself, I hear shit. – Astrid: Jai has a personal Instagram account and a small YouTube channel, where he shares videos on a variety of topics, but none directly related to the paranormal. This is the first time he’s had any reason to. – (Gasp) Ohhh, what the f*ck? No f*cking way. No f*cking way. Hello? Is anybody here? Holy shit, why is that fucking moving? Hello? – Astrid: Jai attempts to track down the source of the strange noise he’s hearing, but every time he thinks he’s getting closer, the noise is heard elsewhere the moment he enters the room. Even though he lives alone, Jai doesn’t get his feathers ruffled easily. But what he’s about to see is enough to scare the daylights out of anyone… – Man, I swear I just saw a f*cking shadow moving here. There’s also this f*cking light switch. Oh man, I am absolutely f*cking shitting myself. NO. That can’t be— f*ck off! Holy f*cking shit. Nah, f*ck this, I’m– Oh no, no f*ck this, I’m outta here. Goodbye. – Astrid: When utensils and even the heavy kitchen table start moving on their own, Jai has finally had enough. He spends the next four days sleeping at a friend’s house and questioning his own sanity. Apparently the deceased have some unfinished business here, but thankfully they haven’t taken their revenge on any of the students. – Newscaster: Okay, I’m normally very, very skeptical… but if the Principal even believes it… – Astrid: Don’t you hate it when you take your kids to the playground, and a ghost is getting rowdy on the swings? – We’re at the playground and the kids don’t want to go anymore cause look at this shit, this is real. Look at this. There’s no wind out here. – No one on it either. – Look, there’s nobody on it. – It’s just moving. I mean, maybe someone pushed it and ran away, but– But where would they go? I doubt it. – So there’s nobody out there. This has been going on for about two minutes. There’s no wind right now. – Do you want to go to a different playground? – There’s nobody out there. – I do not want to go out there. – There’s no, look at the other swings. They’re not even moving. They– look at this shit. – That’s weird. – Crazy… – (unintelligible) – I saw the swing. – Jenna. Jenna. You can’t go on that today. Sorry. – Astrid: Dogs are not only “man’s best friend,” but can also serve to warn you of danger, and even offer protection from intruders. But what happens when the “intruder” fights back? Clearly agitated and trying to warn their owners about some unseen danger, these dogs are practically inconsolable… …until they both immediately fall silent. For a moment, everything is still, as the dogs quietly sit, waiting and watching for whatever might happen next. When suddenly… Something reaches straight through the top of the crate and lifts the dog into the air by the collar, pulling it right off. Creepy…. In 2022, a woman named Kathy Gallinger made headlines after claiming she had proof of a supernatural entity terrorizing her cat. Kathy’s family had recently moved to a new home, and she thought it was her husband leaving drawers open, and putting everyday items in odd new places. When the cat — aptly named “Salem” — suddenly became fearful of an antique doll, Kathy decided to install a camera. You won’t believe what she captured. If you look closely, you can definitely see an apparition forming as it leaves the doll’s body. No wonder Salem was so terrified… Bill Jones was a carpenter who tragically died of a heart attack in 2021. Exactly one year later, on Christmas Eve, Bill’s wife Sharon was already asleep when the backyard security camera’s motion sensor went off. But when she reviewed the footage in the morning, she was shocked by what she saw… Sharon later recalled having vivid dreams of her late husband that night. On the anniversary of his death — and Christmas Eve, no less — she thinks it may have been Bill’s spirit coming to pay her a visit. What do you think? Ever since the Bruno family moved to their farm in Spain, they’ve seen some really creepy things. They’d come to accept that the farm might be haunted, but after a pig gave birth to a litter of deformed and dead piglets, they now worry it might be cursed, too. One night while the rest of the family was out, the youngest daughter got freaked out by odd noises coming from the barn. In case she found herself in real danger, she recorded this video… (screaming) – Astrid: If you look closely, you can see a face with long, stringy hair materialize in the darkness… It might just be a squatter, but perhaps it’s related to the other supernatural things the Bruno family has witnessed lately. What do you believe? This is Pershka, seeking advice from her TikTok followers. She had recently moved into an older house, and would hear creepy noises coming from the kitchen late at night. Unlike in a modern, updated kitchen, this one had an old-fashioned ice machine, which she thought might be a rational explanation. It wasn’t until after she posted this video, that another possibility emerged… Pershka got the shock of her life, when her followers pointed out the haunting figure that appeared out of nowhere, and disappeared just as quickly. Whether it was the ice machine, or Pershka’s terrifying new “roommate,” I think this is one lease worth breaking. Don’t you? William Grave and his 9-month-old son, Xander, captured media attention around the world last year when something truly chilling was caught on the baby monitor. It was Xander’s first night sleeping in his own room, and in the wee hours of the morning, someone went in to check on him… but it wasn’t his parents… William’s wife, Grace, insists it wasn’t her, proven by the fact that the ghostly hand wasn’t seen with the Pandora bracelet she always wears. They believe it could have been the spirit of William’s mom, who had passed away earlier in the year. But another theory is even spookier… Ever since moving into their home, they’ve witnessed countless paranormal happenings, thanks to a ghostly figure they call “The Lady in the Bay Window.” The apparition has been seen five times in their house by four different people who, until that moment, had been unaware of her. Perhaps it was the Lady in the Bay Window, their resident ghost, who was checking on Xander that night. William Grave has since written a book about his haunting experience, donating all the proceeds to Cancer research in honor of his late mom. On the outskirts of the medieval city of Canterbury in England sits The Tyler’s Kiln, a lively, award-winning Pub known for its pleasant ambiance and all-weather outdoor patio. But rumors of paranormal activity had “haunted” the pub for years; the staff reported countless eerie and unexplainable things. Finally, the owner outfitted the pub with CCTV cameras, and was absolutely stunned by what he saw. These clips were all captured in the dead of night, over the course of a 2-month period in late summer 2020. The paranormal occurrences continue to this day. Locals suspect that a curmudgeonly former landlord named Gilbert might be to blame, as he was a crank who always made his presence felt… This medieval city has a particularly dark past, filled with grim tales of gore, torture, and restless spirits. The International Ghost Research Foundation even crowned it as Europe’s most haunted city, due to its bloodstained history and over 500 hauntings reported within the ancient city walls. York Minster is one of the most important religious buildings in England – and one of the most haunted. Just down the road in September 2023, this was caught on camera. An unseen presence seems to balance on the bike as it pedals across the street, before it falls to the ground, abandoned. The media excitedly deemed this a sign from the infamous ghost known as “The Lost Boy.” He is well-known around York to haunt the sites of several old Victorian buildings, inside and out. A ragged child of ten or eleven years old, he’s said to appear looking as shocked to see you, as you are to see him – and then he’s gone. Finally, my dear Monster Myth fans, I’ll leave you with this. This apparition was caught on a trail cam deep in the Michigan woods last winter. Could it have been an animal? A human? Or maybe something in between?
