Years ago I saw an epic video of mountain bikers flying through the air in one of the most beautiful mountainous locations I had ever seen. As a biker, it immediately made it to my bucket list- this is the story of TRYING to cross it off.

Shot during October, 2018, edited with mostly music by Norwegian Artists.

and that was one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done I thought I could haul myself up north to the middle of nowhere rent a bike drag it up a mountain and recreate some video I saw five years ago anyway here’s what actually happened [Music] the foot mounds are part of the normal actually an archipelago comprised of several main islands among them you have Osvaldo Vesta Fargo flex Toya must Kennesaw vaio and lost sorry for the pronunciation the phone is located way up in northern Norway actually above the Arctic Circle which would make you think it’s freezing there but it’s not all thanks to one thing which saved the islands and put them on the map the Gulf Stream the islands reach out into the currents like a hook and pulling in warm water the better weather but most importantly fish specifically the Norwegian Arctic cod which is basically the reason the islands became what they are today but I don’t really fish at all so how did I find out about Liffe Odin well a few years ago I found a video on YouTube of these guys who went there and they did some thing which looked incredible [Music] yeah that video completely blew me away and it immediately became a dream of mine to do the same well fast forward a few years later and we made it well not actually that’s the Fulton this is not a Fulton this is scoot of it and actually that’s not even the Fulton years of anticipation and I couldn’t even form a sentence well not really but what I wanted to tell you is that we had finally made it up north to a small town called scoot fig which is right across the water from the Fulton we were close but before we set out on our journey I wanted to first let me tell you how we got here and how we plan on getting there in case you plan on doing something similar here’s how you get to scoot fig first pack your bags and leave the house get to the airport take a flight from wherever you are to Oslo once you’re in Oz load transfer to another smaller plane or up north to the city of Bhutto once there you pretty much have to rent a car try to look cool while you do it [Music] at this point most people would take the direct ferry across the water to muskan us but because of cost and complicated scheduling we decided to take them much longer but more scenic route and drive three and a half hours to our first stop [Music] where we crashed which wasn’t that bad in the end [Applause] yes oops I think amongst to kill me this is stupid babe bring the car back [Applause] you’re not in good composition it’s a little bit too foggy here in the Norway a little fog was an understatement the only thing we could see was the freezing Arctic waters surrounding us but who cares we were finally about to be on the islands we had driven over an hour to the northernmost ferry which would take us across to loading in one and a half hours left till our home base on the islands in a way though the fog actually saved us because even with it we can stop pulling over constantly to look at the views without it I think we’d run around like kids in a candy store and end up stranded somewhere without gas at least we gets another moose better [Music] but enough that I he had to get sewn base [Music] [Applause] [Music] as you can imagine we were pretty exhausted at this point so we wanted to treat ourselves get a nice place just passable via now of course we didn’t are you kidding me I’m a filmmaker you know how broke I am and yes that is the sound of livestock in the background how do we had a budget home and it was time to plan out the big day school eventually and then you can sign the summit register steep cliffs that’s what I want I want cliffs yeah would you carry a breakup but even on a budget Norway can be so expensive the bikes we finally had the bikes a planned we didn’t even have a mountain the one thing that we did have though was apparently the one single day in the past month when it hadn’t been raining and the Sun was out and that was enough [Applause] [Laughter] [Music] the dust and to the old stone fountain in the morning after for all these pennies fallen from the hands of children [Music] [Music] [Music] bettan mountain that’s where we were going thanks to a very loose suggestion from the info center based on some Instagram account they had seen but we took the chance and made it all the way there with enough time to climb one mountain so there was no backing out not that we ever would I was so excited I felt like my head was about to pop off my shoulders [Music] [Applause] this is it I would be lying if I said that we weren’t freaking out about to have a panic attack the entire way here but anyway this is it this is everything that we came here for and we got about two hours to go up see how long it takes to come down [Music] [Music] almost immediately after this plateau we hit a wall that is the trail became vertical and that it’s a mountain made it very clear that we’d be lucky if we could bike any of it at all so with that in mind we decided it was better to leave Francesca’s bike behind as it was we were racing against the sunset but I didn’t want to give mine up yet [Music] [Music] not long a long time almost there we have [Music] 20 I don’t even know if you can hear me but we made it we made it to the top under my suggestion Franchesca been in her bike in like the first 30 minutes to 45 and in mine after about an hour and a half to get up here this was a mistake bikes were mistake not doing enough research anyway it’s time to see [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] when I first set out to write this video I imagined it ending with this ecstatic shot overjoyed high-fiving in the Sun an epic yet conquered Norwegian mountain in the background but it didn’t I think today it’s easy to get caught up in this idyllic standard of shots and adventures but in the end it’s not about recreating someone else’s story it’s about setting out to check off that box and in the process creating your own it’s not about finding the perfect mountain to climb it’s about finding someone to go climb mountains with [Music] few seconds later
