Original Winchester Model 1901 lever action shotgun made in 1903 and chambered in 10 gauge. These were designed for smokeless, but I used black powder because it was all I could find.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a cool gun and I would almost want to buy one but I also know that it’s a firearm that should have never happened. It was bad enough that lever actions were becoming obsolete in the 1890’s into the 20th century because the enclosed system was hard to work with when clearing a malfunction’s as well as the lever itself being a obstruction when in specific positions or situations. the bolt action was basically a superior design and it was easier to manufacture that the lever guns no matter what type. John browning did what he did best and that was innovating America’s small arms and Winchester stood in his way by bugging him into inventing silly weapons like this while he was busy developing far better and more important designs, like a Winchester 1893 and his semi auto shotgun.
