Cycling around Albania and Montenegro – Episode 1 (May 2018) – Day 1: Arriving in Tirana
Recently I have just completed my 500km cycling trip around Albania and Montenegro. Cycling outside the EU is absolutely a lifetime experience that you will never forget!
The first day of the trip was when I arrived in Tirana, the capital of Tirana. I was so lucky to have a chance to stay in such a nice and cosy hostel, meet up with another experienced solo traveller and get to know more about Tirana and the life there. All in all, before coming to Albania, I have heard a lot bad stories about gangsters or even something worse and most of my friends are too scared to come here, but after a day in Tirana, I have realised that it is such a very safe and modern city with nice people and I did feel safer there compared to London to be honest.
The second day was a 100km trip from Tirana to Shkoder, the largest town in the North of Albania and the life there is totally different! Keep an eye on the next episodes which will reveal more things about this beautiful country!
