Adam Blythe conquered the streets of Stockton-on-Tees to claim his first elite men’s road race title at the national road championships, pipping former champion Mark Cavendish to the win on the line.

    The under-23 title went to Tao Geoghegan Hart – making for the perfect weekend for him after his partner Hannah Barnes picked up the elite women’s win.

    well this was the scene in Stockton on teas earlier today the flag dropped and it was the start of the men’s Elite National Road Race championships 207 km or 129 mil in total the field rolling out in wonderful Sunshine 139 starters some of the finest Road riders in Great Britain including in the center of your screen and there he is again Mark Cavendish not only a former British Road Champion but with those rainbow tips the former World Road Champion as well this was the moment the flag was dropped after a short neutralized section an opportunity for the Riders to loosen the legs it was Dave Clark just in the black there was the first Rider to attack but the undulating rolling terrain with the Catalyst for many many attacks the field splitting splintering until a fourman group managed to pull itself clear of the pelaton and here it is Adam blle of tinkov Teo gagen Hart of axian haens Burman Alex Peters was also there as well as Tom Moses but coming into the finish the final finishing circuit the tight twisting finishing circuit it was Chris Lawless of jlt cond who led them through just on his wheel of Bora Aron 18 with Scott wa just nestled in the middle there was the mans missile himself Andy Fen there as well as Adam blle of tinkov it was going to be a Sprint who was going to reain Victorious it looked good for Cavendish in the center of your screen but it wasn’t to be it was Adam blly of tinkov who sprinted across the line Half A Wheel in it punches the air with delight he is the national champion for 2016 and we’ll get to wear those stripes for 2017 is what he had to say okay with me now Adam blle Adam uh congratulations British national road racing champion how does it feel uh good yeah really good I wanted that one I was all day thinking about you know and always trying to be in the right move and couple laps to go I thought we might hold off the the chase it was hanging around 20 seconds we did a few hard turns hoping we’d stay away but came back together and I just gambled it would be a Sprint and yeah luckily I got round Cav
