in the world of professional cycling there certainly are riders that possess an air of Mystique and their abilities transcending statistics and even race results tiopo a name that resonates in the echelons of this sport is one such Enigma with a career marked by glimpses of Brilliance and tantalizing potential tiopo stories is both inspiring and tinged with a hint of unfilled promise in this video we’re going to delve into the highs and lows of t P’s career and ask ourselves how good was tibo Pino really The Story begins in 1990 in L France on the 29th of May where tiop Pino was born early on his passion for cycling began fostered by the picturesque landscape of the vog region peno’s Talent quickly became evident catching the eye of local coaches and mentors who recognized his potential as a climber especially when he won the J de valad DOA and in 2010 Pino made his professional debut with the Francis dujour team and it didn’t take long for him to make his Mark as he finished fifth in the tour to finestre and even won the mountain classification in his first tour of romendy and bear in mind he was only 20 years old and he even displayed his phenomenal climbing in the crer doof where he managed to finish 20th overall this early success hinted at the promise of Pino and he was held in high regard by Mark Mario the team manager in 2011 his second year with the team Peno was prevalent at the tour of turkey and he managed to secure his first Podium and later he was even strong in the doofan once again with three top 10 finishes and even second on the final stage just missing out the victory to Hakim Rodriguez clearly in good form Pino continued to impress by winning the tal overall and at the Talan that year he managed to win his first professional victory in a very elite selection on the mythical gr Columbia and he didn’t stop there as he managed to win once again on stage five this time out sprinting David moutier later that month Peno had more success as he sprinted to the opening stage victory at the ctim cisma lombardia and took over the race lead which he managed to hold all the way to the finish and thereby got his first overall stage win on the senior level for the 2012 season he had a slow buildup with some results in the Tor romedy where he finished eighth on the final time trial and 11th overall and in the torto Swiss he managed to finish fifth on stage two finishing off the verbi the following month he took part in his first tour to France to gain some experience and thereby tiop Pino became the youngest participant of that Year’s Tour of France but Pino was not just there for participating he was also there to prove himself and he came on stage eight where he managed to get away with Tony galloper before he went on to drop his fellow Frenchmen and solo to the finish winning the stage much to Mark Mario’s delight and and a French Superstar was born Pino even managed to come in second on stage 11 another mount in this stage managing to beat Chris room to the line and that year overall tiop Pino secured a 10th place in the GC and became the youngest Rider to finish in the top 10 since 1947 in 2013 Pino season began at the GP Mar before he went to the Walter Catalonia where he finished eighth role and and before the tour he went to the tour to Swiss once again and was third on the first Mountain Stage moving up to fifth in the general classification however on the final M stage he could not follow the wheel of Rue Costa Balon MMA and TJ vardan and ended up finishing fourth at the T of France with the grand AA in kaga Pino was the leader for the team however he did lose 42 seconds following fj’s fifth place in the team time trial and during his first panian Mountain Stage p was left behind on The Descent and Pino conceded 6 minutes to the leader Chris FR at the finish and the next day he was left behind and finished in the gretto 25 minutes down and Pino decided after the second rest day to withdraw from the race Pino thereafter went to the welti spia where he showed himself and finished seventh in a strong performance 2014 was a tough start for Pino as he had to amband the tour of Oman and even Tano adriatico due to tenton night and in the springtime he showed his form was coming back as he managed to finish ninth in the tour of bass country plus even fifth in the ban room fat where he was second on stage two only 8 seconds behind Mattias Frank for the Tour of France that year Pino was quietly confident and it was a tour that saw bad luck for many of the favorites including Chris F and Alberto contador who both had to abandon but on the 10th stage of the pl Dei a few kilometers from his native Village p P managed to battle his way to second on the stage behind the race winner venzo ni Pino throughout the tall Road consistently in the mountains and on the hot Toom stage he even managed to finish second once again to nibble and the individual time trial Pino was strong and managed to hold on to his third place this T of France really was a revelation for the youngster he showed that he was one of the best climbers in the world and he proved that he could compete with the very best he also won the hearts of many fans across the world for his attacking flare and racing mentality Pino returned to the Welter once again this time going for a stage win however Pino was adversely affected by the intense heat prevailing in the first few days unable to recover he decided to call it quits on stage 11 in 2015 Pino had a strong spring season with a fourth place in trainer Adriatic and at the Criterium International he managed to finish fourth in the time trial third on the final stage and thereby finishing second in the general classification behind Jean Kristoff pero once again Pino continued the good form and won a Mountain Stage in the Tor Romy and overall he was fourth the last test before the Tour of France was the tour of Swiss and he really showed himself here with some great form winning on the only High Mountain Stage attacking 2 km from the finish taking over the race leaders jersey which he was able to hold until the final time trial where he lost out to seiman spiak and ultimately finished fourth at the Tour of France that year despite a good first time trial he lost a lot of time in the first part of the tour he suffered a puncture and a derailment on the Cobble stage and he finished more than 6 minutes down on Chris room at the laia S Maron subsequently Peno decided to go for breakaways and he came close into Mon but they had attack but decided to work together with Pino But ultimately Steve Cummings came back and in the final kilometer he managed to take the win Pino was not done with the tour France as he managed on the final Mountain Stage up the AL to get in a breakaway from the gun and the Breakaway lasted all the way to the finish and penino won the mythical stage itself penino finished the tour France in 16th Place and not where he would have want to later before his final objective he finished fourth in Milan Trin and in il Lombard of vendu nii attacked several times on the climb which Peno and several other writers responded to then neb managed to get a gap on The Descent and won by himself in Ko Pino despite the win going up the road did manage to finish third and obtained the first Podium for a Frenchman in the race since 1997 where lauran jalab took the win the next year in 2016 Pino began at the at deis s finishing third overall after an impressive second place in the time trial where he was only beaten by the French Champion Jerome copel and during tro adriatico Pino was once again up there finishing fifth overall and this race was even marked by the bizarre cancellation of the most favorable stage for the climbers a week later at the Criterium International was back for more as he won the time trial on the first day and on the next stage he won the mid Mountain Stage and thereby took the overall in the Tour of France he again lost a lot of time in the general classification by the end of the first week therefore he went on to dedicate himself to the mountains classification But ultimately he had to retire at the end of the 13th stage due to bronchitis in 2017 Pino announced during the winter season that for the first time in his career he would be targeting the Jiro Talia rather than the Toro France his buildup to the jiru was strong as that the welta and theia Pino managed to win a stage in front of Alberto Conor and Pino was also strong at sarani where he even managed to finish ninth and at the trainer racho he was very strong managing to place himself on the podium after riding consistently throughout the r race and the final test before the jro the tour of the Alps he managed to win on stage five and overall he finished second 7 seconds behind garon Thomas at peno’s first year retire he started the race well as on the first Big Mountain Stage the blockout stage Pino was very offensive throughout the stage but was not able to follow the eventual winner of Nido canana in the final week Pino was in the mix for most of the stages even finishing third on stage 18 behind TJ vangard and Lander but the magical moment came on stage 20 19 km from the Finish where Peno was instrumental to drive a GC group and then he managed to win from a select group and take a stage win in front of ILO sakarin remember him and ultimately Pino finished fourth overall in his first ever d t only 37 seconds of the podium Pino decided to go to the TR of France after this where unfortunately he was never really In Contention then after this notably during the Total Line Peno was strong and even helped his teammate David guo to take a stage on the queen stage leading into ons and thereby took the general classification thus marking his first stage race win of the year in his final race of the Season it was IL lombardia once again and Pino was in the race winning move but was left behind by Vincenzo nii and ultimately finished fifth 2018 Pino opted once again to go to the duralia citing that the pressure was far less on him than at the tour and his preparations were good and he was very strong at the tour of Alps once again winning the overall after riding very consistent on all the stages at the jro Pino showed his form early on finishing third up Mount etner and third on stage eight before missing out on the stage win on stage n Only to Simon Yates who was absolutely un fire that year Peno was strong in the final week even finishing third on the stage where FR exploded Ed the GC however during the 20th stage of the jro Peno seemed to implode and lost 45 minutes finishing in the gretto and he decided not to start the last stage suffering from the beginnings of pneumonia Pino made his return to professional racing at the tour of Poland where he managed once again to finish second to Simon Yates but overall he finished third at the Welter Pino showed his form was strong as he won the 15th stage up to Lagos konga from late attack and also he went on to win the 19th stage to andur with an even later attack 200 M from the finish beating out Simon Yates this time and ultimately finishing sixth for the world championships in inbook he was part of a formidable French team but despite their efforts on the last climb were not able to get rid of Alejandro Val who managed to win the World Championships and Pino finished ninth Pino went back to the Italian one-day races at the end of the season here he finished fifth in the the geod de Alia second in trali and the next day he won from a solo attack the Milan toin classic and at that year IL lombardia Pino was in the leading Group Pino distanced menen the defending champion and he was the last Rider a longside Pino that meant that he was able to get clear and eventually won Solo in Kom a historic day for the French star it was his first monument and the biggest one in his career to date and showed he was even capable of winning the biggest One Day races in the world for the 2019 season Pino began the year with a fourth place in the Tour de la Province then theall at the odar and he took fifth place at tro ATO finishing fifth on the queen stage another strong performance from the Frenchman after taking a brief break he returned to competition at the end of May at the Talan where he took a solo Victory on the slopes of the grand colomb which allowed him to win the final General classification as well before the toural France he had a strong performance at the doofan where he managed to finish fifth overall and his form was good his grama team started the race with a good time trial in Brussel on the team time trial and during the eighth stage Pino looked strong as he followed an attack from Julian Philip they dropped all the favorites and both recovered precious seconds in the general classification finishing behind the stage Victor of the day Thomas again AL Philip regained the possession of the yellow jersey and Pino moved up to third place in the GC 2 Days Later Pino lost a bit of his lead by an attack initiated by Al phip and at the Finish he conceded 1 minute and 40 seconds on the first group where the favorites were moving down to 11th Place overall Before the Race tackled the panan stages Pino performed well in the time trial in Po and moving himself up into seventh the next day thanks to the collective work of his team and in particular David gudo tiop Pino managed to defeat all the favorites and take an incredible Victory on the C tumay beating out the likes of the yellow Jersey Julian pH and that returned him to sixth place in the general classification the following day in FAA Pino L imperious and dropped the defending Champion gon Thomas and distan the other Rivals one by one eventually getting rid of the young Colombian Egon benal as well who had briefly followed him and Pino continued this momentum and finished this stage in second place only being beaten out by Simon Yates once again Peno had moved himself up into fourth place only 3 seconds behind Steven kvick and 15 seconds behind Garen Thomas and 1 minute 50 down on Julian Philip Pino was in a prime position to try and win the Tour of France but his fortunes were about to change on stage 19 penino heartbreakingly was forced to abandon from a muscular injury contracted 2 days earlier and this was extremely emotional for Tio Pino and the dream was gone later Pino said it was the biggest slap in the face of his career and to forget that he would have to win the Tour of France Pino’s retirement from the tour was a massive disappointment not only for him but also for the fans who had been hoping to see the first Frenchman win since Bernardino back in 1985 sadly Pino never quite reached the same Heights as he did in this tour in the 2020 season Pino began with the French stage Racers I managed to finish fifth overall at parin unfortunately due to co 19 the season was paused and upon the return for competition Pino seemed to be one of the favorites for the tour to France leaning up to the tour at the route de oxy 10 Pino finished fourth overall behind Egon beral and in his buildup to the tour he was even at the Criterium of dof where he was second placed in GC behind Primos R glitch at the end of the second stage a few days later Pino hit the ground and tasted the tarmak and the same fate happened to Primos RIT who crashed out the day before Peno was the virtual leader on the road from the start as the attack started Peno got off to a good start but despite the efforts of his teammate riken back it was a more weakened Pinal from that earlier crash and thus a small group managed to slip up the road and eventually Danny Martinez took their overall and Pino finished second in the general classification and at the tour peno’s Ambitions were quickly evaporating as on the first rainy stage in N the weather conditions really hampered the whole Pelon and Peno was involved in a crash towards the finish and that really hampered the rest of his tour however he was spurred on by the final time trial which was in the BGE region and he wanted to be there by stage eight up to the port de balet it was quite clear that he was no longer in contention for the GC as the pain well and truly bothered him he did make it all the way to the LA PL the Bell Fe stage and finished 19th so not a bad run considering the circumstance in 2021 after Paul form in the early races as he had insufficiently recovered from back pain following his fall during the 2020 Tour of France he decided not to participate in the J or any other races wanting to focus on his recovery and later in that season he returned to competition in the tour to lamaan with the aim of preparing for his new Target the Italian classic at the end of of the year he was fifth in the coopa benoi however at Milan Trin he was so fatigued that he gave up 5 km from the Finish citing it was pure fatigue and at the E lombardia he wasn’t quite on form during the presentation of the 2022 season of the grama fdj team Pino announced that he would be the co-leader of the Toral France team that year with David gou Pino began the season with the GP Mar where he finished 37th and at the it de he managed to finish 11th after a difficult period Pino reassured himself by finishing eighth in trano adriatico and during the tour of the Alps he had a rough start but during the last stage Pino out kicked David de Cruz in a Sprint and took the stage win before the tour to France he even managed to take a stage win at the tour to Swiss as well but for the tour his goal was clear it was a stage Victory and help David goou and the Victory especially on laan deel Fe it possible he was up there in a few breakaways and on the ninth stage he finished fourth 40 seconds behind the winner of Bob jungles and was awarded the most competitive Rider on the day ultimately he finished in 15th overall in GC but David goodu did manage to finish in four in the 2023 season Pino announced that it would be his final year in professional cycling the season began for him at at De stage sealing a sixth place overall before he went to trainer adriatico showing good form by finishing 10th Pino almost won the Tour to Jura finishing first in the chasing group to Kevin VLAN and in the T dup Pino narrowly missed out to Jesus herada at the tour of romandy he was in the final selection on the queen stage but could not respond to Adam Yates who took the stage win and tiopo finished fifth overall during the jayre Pino lost time in the first two time trials but despite this Peno managed to finish second on the 13th AG behind AA Rubio however during the stage emotions got the better alpino as he raged against sea who had seemed to not be pulling his turns stage 18 presented another opportunity for him getting in the break and fighting for the mountains classification as well but unfortunately this time he lost out to filipo Zana who took the stage win by sprinting at the summit consequently of all these Breakaway moves Pino had found himself within the top 10 once once again and quietly on the final time trial up to Monte lazari Pino finished fifth and that meant that he would be sealing fifth overall in the GC picking up the mountains classification as well along with a host of top 10 places so not a bad final Jed Italia just a stage win eluding his grasp he also got a final selection at the Tor of France where he would ride in support of David goodoo while he had the possibility of being offensive on stage one he showed this already and he came very close to the victory as he was in the second group behind the Yates Brothers who won and finished in fourth place so this really got the fans excited he was in a few breakaways but it really didn’t come of anything and during stage 20 which was a special one for him as he was going along some of his training routes there were supporters that organized many of celebrations for Pino on the petite ballon and Pino said it was an incredible moment and he was really motivating and had had that in mind for several days his final race of the year was the E lombardia which yet again became a very emotional celebration of the man with many fans paying tribute to him in the final kilometers from the finish in berore and in a Bend nicknamed the cver Pino for the occasion Pino thereby retired at the end of the 2023 season he left the sport with a mixed record he was certainly not the most decorated writer of his generation but he certainly showed he had potential to win The toural Rance but had been plagued by injuries and bad luck throughout his career despite these setbacks POF still achieved a great deal in his career he won stages at all three grand Tours he won IL lombardia he finished third overall at the toal fance and he was a popular writer amongst the fans who appreciated his attacking style so how good was tiop Pino really it’s difficult to say definitively as he was never able to reach the full potential due to his injuries and bad luck and potentially he could have won that 2019 toor of France title however there is no doubt he was one of the most talented climbers of his generation and certainly a fan favorite that’s basically it for this video make sure to comment down below what you thought of Torino as well and if you’ve liked the video hit the like button subscribe to the channel here on 1. Well, then, let's get more direct instead of a passive assessment, and place him amongst the rest of the elite who didn't win a GT…. I'd say thanks to that 2019 Tour, which he would have won, not "potentially" would have won, and I understand your choice of words, choosing the safe route, explaining that Tour with a "safe word" such as "potentially" but no he would have won that race considering who won, Bernal, for he was the class of the field if Bernal won, he was minutes ahead of Bernal at the time he abandoned…. so, I'd say, he's Top 20 of All-Time amongst the best to have never won a GT. He blew it in 2014 as well, maybe a little raw with his problems descending. So, in fact he would have won 1 Tour, and could have "POTENTIALLY" won 2 Tours

    2. He should have left FDJ, might have made better tactical decisions and could have had more wins with a different manager and team. I loved his attacking style, just think he could have picked his moments more wisely.
