yeah hello and welcome back to talk n city ND City Welcome leads United this weekend of car Road the return of Daniel farker it’s a big game um to preview the action I’m joining alongside dear friend and leads United fan Ellis for away days you you you you’re you’re smiling you seem happy is is that leads United related or or or or other things there a few Collective things but um it’s this I’m good it’s how long has been since I’ve been on the channel nearly like eight years been a long while it’s a it’s a good comeback it’s like um Sam Barum at Le took a while well yeah there at least you’re you’re kind of fit and healthy unlike unlike poor Sam who seems to be um keeping the physio Department we we seem to have like just not been in the same division seemingly for for quite a long time um yeah so it’s nice to have you back on this look Le when you know for the neutrals just looking at the league table we’re fairly close those two point separates us you’re in the top six we’re just outside the moods around the place seem hugely different at the moment um just talk us through the kind of the sentiment at leads at the moment yeah it’s really interesting because obviously the sentiment is really good for the first time since be Elsa left it’s been really good and actually I think that was a lot of the issue was always losing BSA was like when your mom or dad leave and then the next step parent needs to be good and Jesse Marsh wasn’t good like it was never a good fit ever like it was just like the fan base was so sick of it last season they were sick of the board they were sick of marsh they were sick of everything like and the signings were were just not great and like it’s been really hard to navigate um and we had obviously Iola came in and allad like just it was just like a board that didn’t feel like it knew what it was doing um which really panicked me going into this season but I think as soon as we got the appointment we got it was was like okay I feel like that’s actually a logical appointment obviously I know it didn’t Mally go great at gladbach but like he’s a guy who’s got proven record in the league um and he’s actually had a really difficult job like a ridiculously difficult job you’ve got so many players that didn’t want to be at the club You could argue like I still don’t think like yonto particularly wants to be at the club as it is now so it’s very hard to navigate that um and the start of the Season wasn’t great because like the lineup we had to put out against West brah earlier in the season was like a fast like it was awful and the fact that far is just the whole time just sort of got on board with it and I think I think it was I forget which game it was it might have been the Watford game where he brings the ball out the sky and touches it down and battered them I think that was the moment it’s like okay this guy gets it and he gets it with his PO his interviews as well like he really does which surprised me because I thought I never really looked into his time at Norwich too much obviously we had like belel at the time um so like it didn’t really focus on on him but like the the sentiment I keep hearing Phil Haye talk about it is saying like that it’s feels like the natural it feels like a more natural successor to be Elsa than yeah anyone we ever appointed Afters was um and it’s just it’s a good vibe around the club as well like we’ve got a very exciting team like georgino R this season has just been ridiculous which is weird because I very openly was not a fan of him uh so he’s he just became like we’ll probably see you’ll probably see it on Saturday like everything will go through him everything and look so were you not a fan because of the kind of price you paid or did you just not think he was a great player I think both like it was it was annoying because we were very much in for joarez and that was a more readymade fit we needed a striker and we then took a punt on a player and I think the fan base still believes the price tag was mental because it was but like he is so ridiculously good for the league and obviously you couple that with like Somerville who was ridiculously good as well you jayen Anthony who went up with Bourn laston season Dan James on the bench like our attacking options are great alongside ampadu in the middle of the park who has been just maybe I think our best signing has been Edo like he’s just been phenomenal and then like Archie gray how good he is at 17 is just is is mental as well obviously Joe rhen and St at Center half partnership so it feels like we’ve actually got a pretty solid team bar the loss against Southampton I think we’ve looked every game we played this season essentially we’ve looked like we should win it so yeah you you touched on it a bit there Ellis I think the recent form has kind of almost made us all forget just how uncertain things were at leads o over the summer I mean even at the start of the season um I was you know watching some some leads creators and and there was real maybe not concern but I think uncertainty was the word and farers had as you say a lot on his plate for for him to to come through that is is is mightily impressive I mean the slow start might cost you but is automatic still the aim here I think so I think it’s I think the logically lead Southampton and Leicester and obviously Southampton are very similar to us on the league table every game we go into this season because of the way money Works in football look at how topheavy our squads are comparatively with the league like I think it’s actually a fast that Leicester can come into the league of Ricardo Perera and Andi in the team and VY and I at like is mental like that is like a mid it is a solid Prem side what they’ve got there um so like we should every game them three sides go into this season they’re the favorites they just are and obviously I think I switch will fade um obviously I’m sure you maybe agree correct correct response yeah I don’t see how it keep it up with their squad dep not being great with I think players who are over performing um and I think they’re obviously on a promotion high but then again it worked for you guys under Lambert so maybe they could feel the same effect but I feel like the top two I feel like that Leicester have won the league but I I could have told anyone that before a ball was kicked that that leer Squad would win the league even like like har winks and like that is just ridicul Conor Cody doesn’t get in their side and he was in the World Cup squad 10 months ago yeah so that’s how far above they are um but I think second is between us and Southampton is what I would think yeah yeah in terms of farker Ellis I mean I think you know we obviously had two championship winning campaigns under him and and obviously the football we played was was stunning and we were kind of riding a w but I think the thing that you know really connected with a lot of fans was his seeming kind of relationship with with nor City fans and seemingly that’s transferred really well into leads and I guess having experienced be Elsa and what he brought you know you you almost needed that because he had a taste of what it could be like to have that Unity he’s obviously you know connected really well with with your fan base yeah I think it’s the B thing was really weird because like the the whole club and even still now like right I’m probably G to get like B’s bucket tattooed on me somewhere was like it was like so crazy like just I can’t it’s made Liverpool and Club is proba the clo the same thing right like it’s just is like we were our entire identity was him like World football we became we went from Dirty leagues to be in a club everyone enjoyed watching because of his one man so like it was always going to be weird after him but we’ve got someone now who like we’ve just had a very sensible window I think is way Le fans keep talking about it the sign of perau sensible best striker in the league last season you go out and sign him because he’s available to sign you get a sensible manager in um like Edo Joe Rhoden Jed Spence are just sensible signings maybe not so sensible we haven’t actually signed a left back although farker thinks s B’s the best left back in the league when he’s fit so he does love doesn’t he yeah he does love s um so we we’ll see I think it’s just yeah he he has everything he’s done so far and everything he’s managed so far has been positive and I think he’s maybe the only thing I would say is maybe we’ve gone from losing every game basically last season to now we win more games because we’re in a weaker league so the manager therefore probably gets a little bit more praise because of that would be if I’m being like reserved about it but I think just the way he navigated a very difficult window with a squad of players that like two players are threatening to take legal action if they weren’t allowed to leave that’s how bad the atmosphere must have been in that dressing room so like the fact that we’re now at this point now where I think people are actually quite scared of playing leads again is is good and I think we go into Saturday for example like I just look at it as a game we should win I just just how it is a game of about Squad I’ve um I’m slightly concerned because you throughout the kind of 10 minutes of’ been talking you’ve you’ve reeled off a whole list of players and I’m going oh yeah I’ve forgotten about him and he’s really decent but if you were to pick out one that you know us as fans should be concerned of when when they get the ball who is it see it’s either Somerville or R but I I just think because of it’s just R is because he’s really confident as well now so like like the thing someone like Somerville every time he gets the ball like he will beat his man I don’t think it’s very rare Somerville doesn’t beat his man it’s just what what he does with his end product and whatever but Ruta maybe finishing wise like admittedly the last game he played he did Miss from a yard out um a the band special for those in the know um but like jordo R like he’s the one he like everything will go through him any big chance we create will likely have been him involved somehow yeah yeah you’re obviously going to the game you’re in the away end I know we’ve been some leads n games together at Carro in the past you’ve said you’re expecting a win do you think it’s going to be comfortable I don’t know because we’re so confusing like I we’ve weirdly became very defensively strong so and also that’s obviously area where you guys haven’t like with hang and eer as the options I’m not overly panicked at the moment very polite way of putting it yeah like but the problem is you’ve got like a player in Sara who you could argue was in the conversation like the best five players in the league so like there’s always a potential in him that something can happen I’d like to think we also are quite topheavy though so it’s weird that we’ve been good defensively because we’re so forward thinking I think if we can score in the I I would think we’d win 2-0 but it’s rare you go away from home and have just a resounding solid performance so I a draw wouldn’t shock me but I am I’m sort of expecting to win if that makes sense I was gonna say I was just looking at you’ve conceded 11 goals this season I think only Leicester have conceded less and as we’ve said Leicester is so strong that’s kind of surprised me actually I haven’t looked at that I mean you associate farker football with being this free flowing we you know you score three we’ll score four type thing that is that not the case this season yeah I think it’s been like we obviously consider fre of them 11 against Southampton in one game as well so it’s been and obviously the other three were against ipswitch so that that ipswitch game was a huge definition of like end to end stuff but no we’ve been really defensively solid and actually there’s been points where because teams a lot of the time against us are just playing be this massive low block like H were a great example of it so Wednesday um and I think that is the issue has actually been unlock that it depends if you the teams that come out to attack us are the ones that will have more problems against us because the the forward is like like I said to have Dan James on the bench in the championship he’s just so quick is just crazy I just couldn’t imagine being a fallback and having him coming on 70 minutes in just you’re just you’re going to be on toast so I don’t know it’s weird because I actually think as I’ve sort of grown up and matured more I can sort of appreciate the cow road is a difficult place to go and it’s the home atmosphere is decent so we’ll see we’ll see what happens but either way I’m just excited to actually be in the away end and not not causing stress for people I’m thought accidentally well there we go um well I hope you I was going to say I hope you enjoy the game I hope you have a somewhat of a pleasurable day um it’s gonna be fascinating to see what
