So, today we are out and about for some midday walking in the Forest of Dean which is located in the county of Gloucestershire, England (predominately the western side of Gloucestershire). The Forest of Dean covers a large area – approximately 42 miles (110 km) which is a triangular shaped plateau bounded by the River Wye to the west and northwest, Herefordshire to the north, the River Severn to the south, and the City of Gloucester to the east.

The goal of this walk was to find the Mierystock disused railway tunnel and take a brief look at it. Building of the tunnel commenced in the summer of 1872 and was completed 1874. The railway provided a link between the Great Western’s network and Gloucestershire’s Severn & Wye railway lines. The railway line was closed in 1956. The tunnel is 242 yards long.

For this walk. I did not use the usual camera – DJI Pocket 3, instead I used an action camera due to rain and 50 mph winds being forecast. As it transpired tho it did not rain and it was not as windy as I was hoping for! One good thing about using an action camera was there did not appear to be as much up and down vertical bounce…see what you think and please let me know in the comment section.

There is just one hidden OAAW logo within this video.

    Thanks for walking with me.

    2. Uh, ready for a wordy? Well, I be intrigued: 🚶be somewhere in the woods? Will he be monkey swinging from branch to branch? Or snorkeling in a puddle? Aha! He be leap-logging! Seems I've seen him do that before. Oh, delightful! We finally 👀 a piece of ya- ze boots! And at that exact moment, up pops a laundry detergent ad, most appropriate! Really Sir🕶️, soooo fun slopping it! Encore! Daring! Into the ditch we hitch, your poor sherpas, I know they let leakage in. Kind o'ya to clamour up to share the gurgling, 🤍24:56, I 📸'd for it's another good 🖌️🖼️. 🤔, a cutaway, did we slip, our britches abito muddy? Thank you for riding me on your shoulders in the ditch, so silly of me to where high heels during wood-walk. My my, even 🚴s… Cotswolders sure love the mud. Another 📸🖌️🖼️, 🤍35:52. And another 🤍40:46. Nooooo – too much, corner of me 👀s saw the yellow off road and there ya go for the closeup…thank you! 🤍📸🖌️🖼️ 48:35! You're so 😎! SQUIRREL! another 😎 moment. You know what SirSR, 53:3055:40 could've been a bonzer stand-alone ambient video, especially the trunk rub squeaks. 🎉 doesn't surprise me you have 30k+ subscriptions. Onward fair steed!

    7. Beautiful Woodland walk. So peaceful hearing the birds. The railway tunnel was creepy. I am new to this channel- enjoyed this walk while crocheting. Are we suppose to let you know we saw the OAAW Logo? And where?

    8. This must be your wettest walk yet- in terms of ground water, even if not precipitation. It seemed like the muddiest one, too; I do hope that your boots were waterproof! I don’t know if you are familiar with the works of the now deceased English children’s author and illustrator Shirley Hughes (we are, through having kids- and now grandkids), but one of her children’s picture books that we really loved was called “out and about” and had little poems about children experiencing the seasons of the year, accompanied by her lovely artwork. One poem in it was called “Mudlarks”, about the mud of spring- and I instantly thought of that page in her book when I saw you sloshing through vast quantities of it. Her book was actually the reason that your channel initially caught my attention and caused me to watch the first video, because I had such pleasant associations with Shirley’s book. I figured that the channel with that name might be good, too- and I was right!
I enjoyed this very unique and different sort of walk… a new adventure. My husband is having surgery today and I have many hours to wait at the hospital. The books that I brought and your walking videos are a pleasant and calming way to pass the long and stressful day. Thank you for sharing this forest walk with us, and the fun of finding the abandoned tunnel. The camera seemed fine, no bounce- but really, I always am amazed at the steadiness with which you can film and walk simultaneously. You must have very steady hands. : )

      P. S. I listened with earbuds at the end of the walk and could really hear the sound of wind in the trees! This is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world, I think!

    9. I was carrying the dishes to the kitchen after starting your latest video for my 91 year old Mom, and she called out, “He’s riding a bike!”
So glad you mentioned using another camera in your descriptive introduction, you seem to glide like drone, or I would have asked why the perception of going through the landscape was different this time! (You are educating us in the art of filming!)
Several places you captured – well, it seemed like scenes from Lord of the Rings. The boggy, open cleared tree cut zone with some left toppled trees- looked like The Marshes in the book. And it sure looked like Tree Beard and the Ents at the finale.

    10. Very swampy there and very desolate but of course there's clearly a bunch of bored teenagers doing graffiti all over ancient walls, they know there's nobody there to chase them away….

    11. Thank very much sharing your walk across this forest 🌳 when it finished your boots need to clean thank you again 👍🌷🌷🌷🇪🇸👨‍🌾

    12. Hello, finally got to sit & see this walk!! One thing that struck me were the colors, one brown muddy minute it looks desolate then you see a beautiful little brook & a gorgeous green forest!! It seemed you were in the middle of nowhere & I half expected to see something scary coming up over a hill…lol…It was a great walk, beautiful & so nature inspired!! I absolutely loved the tunnel & appreciated the close up's, brilliant!! What exactly were they?? I love people who dn't mind mud!! Lol.. thank you! So glad I saw it, hope you have a lovely week ahead. TY ❤

    13. We've been watching awhile from southern USA. We enjoy the views up into the trees, birds chirping, water flowing, all the feels. Keep up the good walks.

    15. Hey OAAW~ The reflections in the water and puddles were fun to see. I love those kinds of “views” of our world. Like looking up into the sky through trees (as you have in this walk video). Always there but not always seen. Here’s to a good week on both sides of the Pond….
