Like the 'Busa, this all used to be relevant. It had a time and place. Unfortunately, the awe that this bike had is long gone. I still love it, but it's time has passed. I'm not trying to make it seem that this bike is nothing…….It's just had it's time in the limelight. We al have fifteen minutes of fame.
This bike is pure class… This was badest straight line and most bad a$$ straight line MCs since the 1980s for 20+ years approx without needing a total redesign.. Still looks Bad A$$ today… What a sound 🔊 Awesome 💪💪💪💪
Nice bike, i have a 95 V Max (Full Power Jap import with 20K on it), couple of points, you never hit the V Boost during the ride, it starts at 6K and goes to 8K, really is something else when it kicks in, what a rush, up to that point the Max is just like any other big old muscle bike. You are right about the weight 280KG wet, that's heavier than a Hayabusa (i have a Gen 1). Power on paper is 145bhp but that's at the crank, because of the shaft drive a healthy Max will have about 115 – 120 at the rear wheel but, as you say the low down grunt is immense (the noise is too). The side "air scoops" are fake, the right one houses the thermostat.and rad cap and the left modules and relays. The handling is no where near as bad as some say, it's a big old bike (designed in 1983, went into production in 1985) so ride it as such and it's absolutely fine. Up to 100mph a healthy Max will pretty much match a Hayabusa (shorter gearing on the Max), then things get sketchy on the Max, the Busa is just getting started at 100mph.
Had one just like that in 86 thought it was my dream bike but only kept it 3 months . It was a shopping trolley on handling too soft on front end caused wallowed like a lame heffer and kicked you up the arse when butterflies kicked in. Newer ones are better because they beefed up the front end made the bike a lot firmer. Oh mpg forget it, you'll spend all your ride looking for filling stations ridden soft 70- 85 a tank ridden hard down to 65 on a FULL TANK !!! 😲😲😲
