Marseille has long held its unhappy reputation as one of Europe’s crime capitals.

But a record 49 drug-related murders last year, fuelled by a brutal turf-war between rival gangs, has taken the violence to a new level.

While French authorities struggle to get a grip – many of those caught up in it say acute social deprivation is to blame.

We were granted rare access to a gang in the city’s notorious northern quarters.

    1. They should never have allowed mass migration from Africans and middle easterners. Wherever they invade, everything goes to sht. Same here in Germany.

    2. I grew up in Inner city Manchester as a youth in the mid 90s but this looks far worse than where I grew up, in fact when I visited Marseille a few years ago, I got mugged on the waterfront by a group of lads. I have to say that the people were very welcoming and down to Earth in general, more so than the snootier Parisians. Marseille reminds me of Liverpool more than Manchester.

    3. Many believe that the system “ is Breeding the next world war 3 just to get rid of millions of ( what they called): USELESS EATERS! Now with the arrival of the AI,the companies are not going to need as many slaves as before! DISPOSABLE,we called them in Colombia 🇨🇴🇺🇸♟♟♟🇮🇱✡️🕎

    4. She called them migrants they are not they are all French people born in France btw in Sweden the journalist were attacked & chased out because of the racist reporting they were doing by claiming they were refugees who were doing crimes but it was not the young people who were born outside of Sweden but the young people who were born there Swedish citizens

    5. Migrants from North Africa and sheer neglect and decay go well in one sentence. The virus is spreading through all of Europe, starting at Marseille, going through Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam all the way up to Sweden. We know how it began, not how to stop it.

    6. And we wonder why Le Pen will become the next president? Europe is paying a heavy price for putting 'morality' before reality.

    7. Workin from 9to 5 sucks, they got the full right not to get a job, bro as a morocan i work at dealerships like bmw, audi, benz
, range and i dont even got my degrees or experience, yet i get accepted, they are just lazy scums

    8. If drugs are decriminalised like in some other developed countries, then gang activity will decrease significantly. Taxes from legal drug sales could then be used to address poverty. Funny how the presenter seems to place the blame on those in poverty, instead of those in power who can fix the problem…

    9. Bradford is apparently Europe's 2nd most dangerous city for crime after Marseille. Yet alot of people keep thinking London is the most dangerous in Europe just because they dislike London but most of London is developed but still has bad areas although london had 110 murders last year and northern uk citys had more then 110 murder

    10. Why on earth would the dealers give you a tour of the business?
The only reason I think is that is because you pay them a lot of money (at least 10 or 20K big minimum)
I'm French and I have been in the "trade". No one will give you a tour "just to be nice to UK TV".
02:10 They waiting for the boss to give the green light, in fact the Boss is checking if the transfer has been done. I'm not stupid!

    11. Psychedelics saved me from years of uncontrollable depression, anxiety, smoking, and illicit pills addiction. Imagine carving heavy chains for over a decade and then all of a sudden that burden is gone. Believe it or not, in a couple of years they'll be all over for treatment of mental health related issues.
